Held on 5 August 2022, the Oasys-run game pitch gathered up and coming web3 gaming developers in Korea, where participants were given the opportunity to present their titles and themes to the event organizers, and vied for prizes to develop their games.

A wide variety of games were pitched at the event, running the whole gamut of gaming – while some teams focused on the quality of traditional games using existing IPs and graphic techniques, others explored newer forms of games using blockchain technology. Following rounds of intense pitching, a total of four winners were selected, with Catze Labs coming in first place for its game titled “TROUBLE PUNK: Cyber Galz” – a battle royale-style action game hosted on the Catze Labs platform.

The Catze Labs team were granted 600,000 of Oasys’ native tokens, OAS, as well as first negotiation rights with Arriba, BNE 021 Fund, and DJT Ventures. Three other teams – Pomerium, Epic League and Tanuki Squad – tied for second place, and won 200,000 OAS tokens each.

Leveraging Oasys’ innovative solutions to solve the existing challenges of slow transaction speeds, high gas fees and unoptimised interfaces inherent in Web3 gaming, the prizes will allow the Korean game developers to contribute to the building of a scalable global crypto-native ecosystem for game developers, Web3 experts and blockchain gaming guilds.

Daiki Moriyama, Director, Oasys, said: “Congratulations to all our winners! We were heartened by the active participation from Korea’s blockchain gaming community – from the speed to the quality of the blockchain games pitched, we were impressed by the caliber of the game developers present at our game pitch event. We’re excited by the immense potential for blockchain gaming development in Korea, and look forward to spearheading its growth and direction through collaborative efforts with key industry stakeholders.”

Muss, Project Lead, Catze Labs, added: “People in our generation grew up playing Pac-Man, Sonic and Tekken in the arcades as children, and it is a great honor to be recognized by Oasys, which is backed by companies that created these legendary games. We want to do our best to make TROUBLE PUNK successful. Please keep watching us!”

In July 2022, Oasys successfully completed a private token sale round of USD20 million led by blockchain financing and investment platform, Republic Capital, with participation from Jump Crypto, Crypto.com, Huobi, Kucoin, Gate.io, bitbank and Mirana Ventures. The funds will be used to strengthen partnerships with new and established game developers, digital asset exchanges and other companies within the gaming and crypto ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Oasys will continue to focus on improving user experiences, in collaboration with key domestic and international partners, and contribute to the global expansion of blockchain games, helping to bridge the gap for game developers in entering the Web3 gaming world.

Teledyne e2v: Advanced optical digital harness (ODH) set to unleash novel multi-element microwave antennas

Links to transfer data, clock, configuration, and even system-wide synchronization signalling marks the arrival of practical multi-element smart digital antennas

Newsworthy pointers

  • Streaming sample, control & configuration data, as well as reference clock and synchronization signals via optical fibers simplifies signal distribution and reduces cable mass in complex digital radio designs
  • Eliminates all copper signal wiring in future radios offering increased architectural flexibility whilst reducing crosstalk and inter-channel interference
  • Concept substantiates a separation of front-end analog design from back-end digital signal processing heralding the arrival of fully digital antennas

Prototype set to demonstrate revolutionary approach to high-speed data interfacing

GRENOBLE, FRANCE – Media OutReach – 18 August 2022 – as part of its advance towards enabling software defined microwave systems, Teledyne e2v is previewing a prototype optical link technology which might soon obsolete legacy copper data links in digital radio system design.

Highlighting the advantages of this initiative, Nicolas Chantier, Strategic Marketing Director stated:

“Our optical data link research marks a moment in time when the radio’s front-end can finally be decoupled from the advanced backend digital data processing of software defined radios (SDRs). In so doing, designers gain implementation flexibility, enhanced digital beam forming capabilities and several extra design freedoms.”

About modern high-speed data interfacing

Two copper-based serial interfaces predominate. They are the industry standard JESD204 link and the alternative, license free ESIstream from Teledyne e2v.

Data interfacing in sampled systems requires considered implementation. Perhaps the largest challenge, particularly in highly parallelized, multi-channel (i.e., electronically steered beam) systems, is ensuring that data samples are accurately time aligned. Time alignment ensures signal phase information and thus, the critical spatial information embedded within the received signals is preserved.

Cross-channel synchronization is further complicated by metastability – an inherent, pseudo-random behavior of digital systems. It can be mitigated through careful design.

Despite optical data links powering the modern global broadband backbone, to date there have been few efforts to replace traditional copper in radio front-end design.

ODH Benefits

The move to optical data link technology provides multiple system benefits including:

  • Lossless, long-range transmission
  • Freedom of separation between front-end receive and signal processing systems
  • Zero EMI lowers crosstalk and signal interferers
  • Weight reduction

Technology availability

The ODH system is at the proof-of-concept stage. Teledyne e2v have extensively simulated the digital design of the control methods and is currently finalizing the first hardware implementation. The company plans several updates throughout this and next year as the project progresses.
