LONDON, April 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ —  Elwood Technologies (“Elwood”), a provider of institutional-grade digital asset trading infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Michael Abib as Chief Executive Officer. Michael joined Elwood in 2023 as Chief Product Officer and has been at the heart of building the end-to-end platform. He succeeds Chris Lawn, who guided the business through a critical period of strategic transformation.

The appointment marks a significant milestone for Elwood. As CPO, he has overseen the continued development and integration of Elwood’s full product suite. His appointment as CEO represents a deliberate shift to product-led leadership at the top of the company.

Michael Abib, incoming CEO of Elwood said: “I joined Elwood because I believe we are building something the institutional market genuinely needs and I am proud to lead this company into its next chapter. As digital and traditional markets converge, institutions are looking to increase their digital asset capabilities and our goal is to support them with trading, portfolio & risk management infrastructure. I want to thank Chris for the leadership and rigour he brought to this business. He has provided us with a strong foundation to continue building on.”

Chris Lawn, outgoing CEO of Elwood, said: “When I joined Elwood in 2023, the opportunity was clear, and so was the challenge: to complete an end-to-end platform, focus the business on SaaS, and build the right foundations. I’m proud of what the team has built. Elwood now has a modular, front-to-back product for institutions. Michael has been central to that journey and has a deep understanding of both the product and the business. He’s the right person to lead Elwood, and I look forward to supporting him through a smooth transition.”

Earendil Labs Announces First Patient Dosed in a Phase IIa Trial of a Half-life Extended Anti-TL1A Antibody (HXN-1001) in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis

WILMINGTON, Del., April 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Earendil Labs, an AI-driven biotechnology company advancing next-generation biologics, today announced the first patient has been dosed in a Phase IIa clinical trial of HXN-1001, a half-life extended anti-TL1A antibody, in patients with ulcerative colitis, as well as enrollment completion in the Phase I trial of the antibody in healthy volunteers carried out in Australia. The Phase IIa trial is a randomized, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and preliminary efficacy of HXN-1001 in ulcerative colitis patients.

HXN-1001 is a half-life extended, next generation anti-TL1A antibody with great potential for the treatment of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. In preclinical studies, HXN-1001 has demonstrated more potent efficacies in multiple in vitro assays and animal models than several benchmark products currently under clinical development. Besides the extended in vivo half-life, HXN-1001 is formulated at a high protein concentration for subcutaneous injection. Taken together, HXN-1001 represents a potentially more efficacious and more convenient treatment option for IBD patients.

“In the Phase I study in healthy volunteers, HXN-1001 in single doses up to 1200 mg and multiple doses of 450 mg was well tolerated with a favorable safety profile. The antibody showed a half-life of about 8 weeks when dosed in the projected therapeutic dose range, with low incidence of anti-drug antibody response.” Zhenping Zhu, MD, PhD, President & Co-CEO of Earendil Labs, commented, “We are working diligently to advance HXN-1001 clinical programs in a hope to bring a new and efficacious therapeutic option for IBD patients expeditiously.”

Jian Peng, PhD, CEO of Earendil Labs, stated, “The progression of HXN-1001 clinical development is a significant step on our pursuit of developing next-generation best-in-class biologic therapeutics in the treatment of patients suffering from IBD. We look forward to working closely with the clinical investigators and the IBD community to advance our development programs globally and to fully realize the great potential of HXN-1001.”

Laos has kicked off a new chapter in sports with its first Baseball5 Friendly Cup in Vientiane, introducing a simpler and faster version of baseball for young players.

The event, organised by the Lao Baseball Softball Federation (LBSF) and Lao Youth Baseball (LYB), brought together nearly 100 participants, including players, volunteers, and spectators. It marked the country’s first official step into Baseball5.

Four teams, featuring mixed-gender squads, competed in the one-day tournament.

The event showed strong interest from young people aged between 15 to 25 years old, with organisers saying the energy and turnout point to real potential for the sport in Laos.

Baseball5 is played without bats or gloves, using only a rubber ball and a small space. This makes it easy to set up in schools and local communities, especially where full baseball fields are not available.

The game also helps players build basic skills like throwing, catching, and running.

Supporting Future Talent

The launch comes as Laos looks to grow its baseball talent. The men’s national team is currently ranked 47th in the world, and building a larger player base, especially young players, is a key goal.

Following the event, LBSF and LYB plan to bring Baseball5 into schools across Vientiane. There are also plans to create a school league to give students more chances to compete and help identify future players.

With strong early interest, organisers plan to make the tournament an annual event and expand it in the coming years. They also hope to build a national Baseball5 team to compete at regional and international level.

Wear Green. Act Green. Join Dress Green Day This Earth Day

An open call for schools, companies and communities across Hong Kong to participate

HONG KONG, April 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Earth Day, on 22 April, is recognised globally as a day for environmental awareness and action. It is a moment to reflect on our relationship with nature and the climate, and to turn concern into practical steps at home, at school, and at work. It also serves as a reminder to care for our shared home—and that when many people take small actions together, the collective impact can be significant.

Join Dress Green Day This Earth Day
Join Dress Green Day This Earth Day

To mark Earth Day, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is launching Dress Green Day 2026, inviting schools, organisations, corporates and the wider community across Hong Kong to join Dress Green Day – a simple, inclusive participation initiative designed to make Earth Day visible in everyday life, and to encourage practical actions that can continue beyond a single day.

Why Dress Green: A Visible Reminder to Act

Dress Green Day uses a simple signal – wearing green – to create a visible, shared moment across the city. TNC emphasises that wearing green alone does not solve the environmental crisis; it is intentionally symbolic — serving as a signal and reminder that environmental responsibility starts with awareness and daily choices.

In a dense, fast‑paced city like Hong Kong, small, visible cues can be powerful—whether it is a green T‑shirt, a reusable bottle, a green accessory or even a simple pin—prompting reflection, conversation and action, both individually and collectively.

To move beyond symbolism, participants are encouraged to complete “One Green Act” on Earth Day. Examples include bringing a reusable bottle, cup or lunchbox; reducing waste and refusing single‑use plastics; choosing public transport or walking shorter distances; saving energy by switching off lights or setting air‑conditioning responsibly; recycling properly; taking a nature walk to reconnect with the environment; choosing greener meals; reusing items at home and in the workplace. These everyday actions, multiplied across a city, can contribute meaningfully to resource conservation, emissions reduction and long‑term behaviour change.

Kay Tse partners with TNC to Amplify Dress Green Day 2026

TNC is honoured to have the support of Hong Kong artist Ms. Kay Tse (謝安琪), who joins Dress Green Day 2026 as an Earth Day Supporter, helping bring the message to a wider audience.

“Caring for the Earth can begin with something simple. One thought, one choice, one small act — even the colour we wear can express what we value. I’m happy to support Dress Green Day, and I hope everyone will join me on 22 April to wear green, act green, and show our love for the planet we share.”

— Kay Tse, Earth Day Star Supporter

A Simple Way to Join Bigger Conservation Solutions

While Dress Green Day is intentionally simple, it reflects a belief central to TNC’s science‑based conservation approach: long‑term environmental solutions require both ecological action and public engagement.

In Hong Kong, TNC is advancing conservation work ranging from endangered oyster reefs restoration to nature‑based solutions for coastal resilience, marine ecosystem recovery, and expanded environmental education and community engagement. Across the Asia Pacific, TNC works to protect coral reefs, forests and coastal ecosystems, support sustainable fisheries, and help communities adapt to climate change.

Dress Green Day offers an accessible entry point for the public to connect everyday choices with these broader conservation efforts — because meaningful change often begins with small actions, taken together.

How to Participate

Individuals are invited to wear something green on 22 April, take one small green action, and share a green moment using #DressGreenHK and tagging @tnc_hk.

Schools and corporates who would like to participate or learn more can register or enquire by emailing hkmkt@tnc.org. More information is available at www.tnc.org.hk.

Through one colour, one action and one shared day, Hong Kong can come together for the planet — and show how small steps, taken together, add up.

Share Your Green Moment

Individuals, schools and organisations are invited to submit Earth Day photos of themselves wearing green to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) via WhatsApp, direct message to TNC on Instagram or Facebook, or by email to hkmkt@tnc.org.

Selected photos may be featured, on a random basis, as part of the Dress Green Day montage across TNC’s social media platforms and on MTR Urban Line digital panels at various stations on Earth Day. (Feature opportunities are subject to availability and final arrangements.)

Optional Support for Conservation

Participation in Dress Green Day is free and open to all. For those who wish to further support The Nature Conservancy’s science‑based conservation work in Hong Kong and across Asia Pacific, voluntary donations are welcome. Contributions will help advance long‑term efforts— from marine ecosystem restoration and nature‑based climate solutions to environmental education and community engagement.

Sekong Breaks Ground on New Hospital Funded by Vietnam’s Da Nang

New Da Nang-Sekong Friedship Hospital in Sekong Province, Laos (phototype).

Sekong Province in southern Laos began construction of a new hospital on 1 April, funded by the authorities of Da Nang City, Vietnam, in a move that further deepens ties between the two neighboring nations.

The new Da Nang-Sekong Friendship Hospital, located in Thataeng district, carries an investment value of USD 6.7 million and a construction period of three years.

Groundbreaking ceremony for the new Da Nang-Sekong Friendship Hospital in Thataeng District, Sekong Province, southern Laos, held between Sekong and Da Nang authorities. 1 April 2026.

The project will deliver a two-story hospital building, staff dormitory, cafeteria, laundry room, mortuary, waste treatment facility, generator house, and full technical infrastructure.

Lao company Chaleunsok has been appointed as the construction contractor.

Once operational, the hospital is expected to play a vital role in improving the quality of healthcare, examinations, and treatment for ethnic communities in Thataeng district and surrounding areas.

In particular, the facility aims to ease the longstanding challenges posed by geographic remoteness and limited economic resources that have long affected local residents’ access to medical care.

Beyond its healthcare impact, Sekong authorities described the project as a gift from Da Nang authorities and called it a symbol of the close and brotherly friendship between Laos and Vietnam, one built on the “spirit of being of one mind” and “sharing joys and sorrows.”
