JAKARTA, INDONESIA – Media OutReach – 28 December 2022 – PT Gunung Raja Paksi (GRP), a member of Gunung Steel Group and one of the largest private steelmakers in Indonesia, has secured a USD 32 million sustainability-linked loan from the national bank of Indonesia, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), making them the first steelmaker within the country to do so. The five-year bilateral credit would be used to fund GRP’s sustainability initiatives, which include the recently commissioned Light Section Mill (LSM).

The collaboration is marked with the visit to GRP site by the Director of Enterprise & Commercial Banking BNI, Muhammad Iqbal and General Manager of Enterprise Banking, Rangga Bhirawa was welcomed by Chief Financial Officer GRP, Roymond Wong and Head of Sustainability, Sheren Omega which located in West Cikarang, Bekasi on Wednesday, 28th December 2022.

Key to one of GRP’s commitments which is to meet domestic steel needs within the country, the LSM is expected to increase operational efficiency through lowering energy consumption and thereby reducing carbon emissions. This project is also part of GRP’s mission towards decarbonisation which follows their recent partnership with Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN), where the company pledged its support towards helping Indonesia achieve its goal of Net Zero by 2060.

As steel is an essential material needed in construction and industrial projects, GRP believes that the usage of steel produced via sustainable means will be an important pathway towards building an eco-friendly nation. “With the conclusion of COP27, the question now is, how do we help the private sector and industry players transition to sustainable business models? Green finance is a key area of discussion when it comes to advancing the sustainability agenda as it gives industry players the needed capabilities to implement sustainable technologies and processes in their businesses. Having the support of BNI will not only encourage sustainable methods of production, but also allow us to accelerate the rate of decarbonisation in the region,” said Roymond Wong, Chief Financial Officer at GRP.

“As one of the leaders in the private steelmaking space within Indonesia, we are conscious of the need to produce steel in a sustainable manner. Combined with this growing discernment around ESG strategies, customers and regulators are becoming more aware and educated on the need for sustainable steel. The combination of this newly secured loan and our existing ESG strategy, is aimed at ensuring that the produces steel meets green requirements towards regional development projects for Indonesia’s goals to become a greener nation,” said Sheren Omega, Head of Sustainability at GRP.

Director of Enterprise & Commercial Banking of BNI, Muhammad Iqbal said, GRP is an industry player who is at the forefront of implementing sustainable production methods in the business.

Furthermore, Iqbal explained that BNI as a pioneer of green banking in Indonesia hopes to continue to encourage changes towards the future of sustainable business activities and comprehensive business collaboration with GRP.

“We are very grateful for the opportunity to contribute together in realizing a green economy. In the future, BNI and GRP will also optimize the potential for financing the company’s value chain, cash management, payment channels, supply chain financing, financing for partners and employee consumer products, both funds and loans, along with providing solid digital solutions for GRP”, he added.

More schools take part in Back to School with Dad initiative post-pandemic

Incarcerated fathers take part in the Back to School with Dad initiative for the first time

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 28 December 2022 – Fathers from 200 pre-schools, primary and secondary schools as well as institutes of higher learning will be participating in the Back to School with Dad initiative for the next academic year in 2023. The dates for Back to School with Dad 2023 are 3 and 4 January 2023.

This represents an increase of nearly 67 percent increase from this year – boosted by the relaxed social distancing measures as Singapore entered the endemic phase. Fathers who have become more involved in their children’s schooling journey during the pandemic also continue to do so.

The Singapore Prison Service (SPS) is helping incarcerated fathers strengthen their bonds with their children. For the first time, over 200 incarcerated fathers took part in this initiative. These fathers wrote notes of encouragement on Back to School with Dad cards which were then passed to their families so that their children can be surprised and motivated when school re-opens.

“Children of incarcerated fathers are unable to be present for them physically at the beginning of the new school year. Encouraging their children through these handwritten notes serves to strengthen father-child bonds despite their absence. This benefits not only the children, but the incarcerated fathers too, as it helps keep them motivated and focused on their rehabilitation journey,” said Ms Charlene Chia, Senior Correctional Rehabilitation Specialist from SPS.

Back to School with Dad cards

In the years before COVID-19, only hard copy Back to School with Dad cards were disseminated to schools for fathers to pen notes for their children. Due to COVID-19 restrictions affecting logistics of cards distribution, Back to School with Dad 2022 went virtual.

For the 2023 academic year, due to the opening up post-pandemic, hard copy cards were provided to some schools. For fathers who do not have access to the hard copies, virtual cards are also available for download from the Back to School with Dad web page. This allows more fathers (and mothers) to access the card templates and share them with other parents in their community.

Using these templates, the parents can personalise a note of encouragement to be printed out and placed into lunchboxes or school bags so that their children can be pleasantly surprised during recess or sent to their children’s mobile phones for the older children. Parents will also be provided with a Back to School with Dad toolkit with ideas on how they can prepare their children for the new school year.

“Being there for my children during times of transition such as a new school year helps them understand that Dad will always have their backs. It is also my way of forming precious memories with them in their growing up years – memories which we will always have even as they move on to other stages of life beyond school and into adulthood,” said Mr Bryan Tan, CEO, Centre for Fathering, DADs for Life and MUMs for Life. “We hope that many more fathers and schools will appreciate the importance of a father’s involvement in his child’s schooling journey and pledge their support towards the Back to School with Dad initiative.”

Families for Life Council Chairman Mr Ishak Ismail said, “‘Back to School with Dad’ is a meaningful initiative for fathers (and mothers) to put their love and commitment in action. As fathers become more involved in the key milestones of their children’s lives, it will help them to navigate these transitions and approach the new school year positively. We hope more fathers will make time to accompany their children to school on their first day and create memories that will be cherished for many years to come.”

About Back to School with Dad

Research* shows that when fathers are engaged in children’s education, their children perform better academically and are better able to adapt to their schooling journey emotionally and socially. They are also less likely to drop out and exhibit undesirable behaviour in school.

Underpinned by evidence of the importance a father’s role in his children’s academic journey, Centre for Fathering mooted the initiative in 2006 to encourage fathers to take time out from work to accompany their children to school at the start of the school year and send them notes of encouragement to ease them in.

Organised by Centre for Fathering, DADs for Life and MUMs for Life, in partnership with Families for Life and in support of Made For Families and Celebrating SG Families, Back to School with Dad aims to encourage fathers to play a more active role in their children’s schooling journey.

“We are now expanding our portfolio that we have created with Porsche Design with a new model. Sharing the same functional and artistic design platform as the PD32M launched earlier this year, the PD27S offers mainstream gaming features in a stylish package,” says Kevin Wu, General Manager of MMD Singapore.

“Building on the successful partnership with the premium monitor brand AGON by AOC, Porsche Design is once again bringing sportscar inspired design to the gaming industry. Having received the 2022 “iF Design Award” and the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022″, the Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD27S received high critical acclaim, and the performance and level of technological innovation are equally as impressive as the design,” says Roland Heiler, Chief Design Officer at Porsche Design.

Award-wining Design

The PD27S shares the impeccable functional design of the 32-inch PD32M introduced in April. The PD27S received the “iF Design Award 2022” and the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022”. To perform at intense, long-lasting gaming sessions gamers must be able to rely on their solid and robust gaming gear. The main attraction of the PD27S is the sandblasted aluminum cast stand with its sturdy, functional build and unique shape, reminiscent of the steering wheel and wheel spokes of a sportscar. The clean, streamlined design of the PD27S features tapered surfaces on its housing at its rear and sides, following the functional layout of the internal components. The metal mesh inlays – similar to air-cooling intakes on a car – house the speakers on the left and right side of the device. These sections are indirectly backlit with customizable RGB lighting (Light FX) to increase dynamism and enhance immersion. Thanks to the ergonomic stand, the PD27S offers pivot orientation, 150 mm height, as well as tilt and swivel adjustments.

State-of-the-art technology

The exclusive design of the PD27S is coupled with the outstanding display expertise of AGON by AOC to deliver impressive features for ambitious gamers. The Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD27S features a flat IPS (AAS) panel for high color accuracy and wide color gamut. Thanks to the 10-bit IPS panel’s punchy and vivid colors reproduction, the PD27S covers 95 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut and 99 percent of sRGB gamut, enabling it to excel at all color-critical tasks. The explosion of color on the DisplayHDR 400 certified PD27S is further enhanced by the display’s ability to decode and reproduce high dynamic range content in movies, videos and games to display true-to-life images. Thanks to its crisp QHD resolution (2560×1440) on its 27-inch expanse, the PD27S has a high pixel density of 109 ppi, perfectly-suited for daily business-related use. A QHD resolution is also the primary choice of ambitious gamers to easily achieve high framerates and sharpness at the same time. The 165Hz / 170 Hz refresh rate and 1 ms GtG response time ensure fluid motion in fast-paced games with practically zero ghosting. Thanks to the Adaptive-Sync technology, the PD27S supports variable refresh rate, eliminating artefacts such as tearing and stuttering.

Advanced daily driver

The PD27S is not only a gaming monitor, but a high-end all-rounder. Equipped with a 4-port USB 3.2 hub, external devices such as keyboards, mice or external drives can be connected quickly and easily, reducing cable clutter and giving every desk a clean and functional layout. To complete the audio-visual experience, the PD27S features dual 5W speakers enhanced with DTS to deliver clear and rich sound. To remind users of its heritage, the monitor will greet users with an animated start-up logo. To adjust various settings including color modes or game modes, the onscreen-display menu is laid out with a unique design, too. The monitor arrives with a USB stick that includes user manuals and related software.

Helping traders achieve their goals: OctaFX’s milestones in 2022

Moving into the next year, the international broker OctaFX analysed its most important milestones of 2022 and their meaning for the company and its clients.

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – Media OutReach – 28 December 2022 – 2022 was a year of unprecedented changes and struggles in the financial markets. For the international broker OctaFX, it was a year full of hard work that helped achieve several significant milestones and make investing more accessible for many people around the world. Here’s what 2022 was all about for the broker.

Caption

Crypto trading seven days a week

Early in the year, OctaFX made cryptocurrency trading available on the weekends. While most banks and platforms work only from Monday to Friday, non-stop trading was welcomed by traders who sought to open orders on Saturday and Sunday or could not trade during weekdays.

25 new crypto instruments

OctaFX added 25 new cryptocurrency instruments to provide its clients with more opportunities to diversify their portfolios and profit from the highly volatile nature of the crypto market.

Best Mobile Trading Platform award

One of the major awards this year, the Best Mobile Trading Platform from the international Forex news portal fxdailyinfo.com deserved a special place in OctaFX’s trophy case. The winners in 27 nominations of the Forex Brokers Award 2022 were determined by public voting that reflected the views of the global trading community.

Swaps removed

Swaps (fees traders pay for leaving their orders overnight) are charged every day and tend to accumulate, making trading less profitable. OctaFX lifted this financial burden off of its clients by optimising its work processes.

Rebranding and 11th anniversary

Eleven years of providing brokerage services marked an important milestone for OctaFX. For the first time in its history, the broker decided to hold a visual rebranding, adopting a fresh new look with elegant colours, space-inspired elements, and a new logo.

Best Global Broker Asia 2022

Another essential accolade of 2022 was the title of Best Global Broker Asia from International Business Magazine, a Dubai-based financial publication. The editorial decided to honour OctaFX with the award for ‘delivering the top of the line services to investing clients and partners, the most promising investment products, and its impressive figures of 12 million trading accounts throughout 150 countries—all of which are a testament to its reliability.’

150 stocks added

In November 2022, to its existing 80 CFD instruments OctaFX added 150 stocks listed on 16 exchanges. The list of stocks included some of the most notable names, such as Airbus, Amazon, Apple, BMW, and Tesla, as well as other major companies from Australia, Europe, Japan, Singapore, the U.K., and the U.S.

OctaTrader released

Towards the end of the year, OctaFX its own trading platform—OctaTrader. The platform aims to provide OctaFX’s clients with a clearer view of the market, help them decrease possible risks, and streamline decision-making. Apart from that, OctaTrader is seamlessly integrated with the broker’s other apps and web services.

Commitment to education

Throughout 2022, OctaFX’s financial experts held over 700 webinars and workshops in 6 languages, while the broker’s YouTube channel grew to more than 980,000 subscribers. For OctaFX, commitment to education means a commitment to its clients’ goals, which is essential to building long-term, robust relationships with them.

Helping local communities overcome global challenges

Corporate social responsibility always remains among the broker’s most cherished values. In 2022, the company’s seventeen charitable initiatives included emergency response projects that helped almost 2,000 people overcome the devastating effects of the flood in Pakistan and the earthquake in Indonesia. Other projects were mostly centred around education, aiding 50 schools and organisations and more than 4,000 students of all ages in India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, and Pakistan.

OctaFX 2023 outlook

2022 was a year full of efficient work and impressive achievements. Some of its brightest developments are set to continue in the upcoming year. OctaFX will resume work on OctaTrader, launch in several new regions, and help more people achieve their investment goals.
