Tiger Beer Proves Its Global Credentials in Bold Blind Tasting Experiment

77% of participants rated Tiger Beer as “excellent” or “very good” before knowing it was Tiger, reinforcing the beer’s world-class quality on taste alone.

SINGAPORE, June 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Tiger Beer invited Singaporeans to a one-day blind tasting experiment for discerning beer drinkers, demonstrating that a shared appreciation for great beer goes beyond labels.

Born in Singapore, Chosen Worldwide

Born in Singapore in 1932, Tiger Beer has grown into one of the world’s most recognised beer brands and is today enjoyed in more than 60 markets worldwide. Over the years, the brand has earned 49 international quality awards, including recognition from the World Beer Awards and six golds achieved at the 2026 Monde Selection Quality Awards.

Yet, while Tiger remains one of Singapore’s most iconic brands, many may not fully realise the extent of its global success, having put Singapore on the world stage and earning recognition that is a source of national pride.

Putting Taste to the Test

Tiger removed all brand cues and invited Singaporeans to judge the beer purely on its taste. At Guoco Tower, more than 250 participants stepped into a tasting experience where labels and branding were stripped away. Instead of beer names, participants were presented only with award credentials associated with the beers they were tasting:

  • “World Beer Awards Winner”
  • “Monde Quality Awards Winner”
  • “49x International Awards Winner”.

Unbeknownst to them, every pour served was Tiger Beer, and every accolade on display belonged to the homegrown brand.

The Verdict

The blind taste test results revealed a resounding appreciation for the liquid’s quality: 77% of participants rated the unbranded beer as “excellent” or “very good”, while 72% said they would order it again based on taste alone.

Only after sharing their verdicts were participants let in on the secret: they had been drinking Tiger Beer all along.

For many, the experience prompted a renewed appreciation of the Singapore-born brand and the international recognition it has earned over the decades.

“I’ve always known Tiger as a Singapore brand, but I didn’t realise how recognised it is globally,” shared one participant. “It’s something Singaporeans can be proud of.”

The experience also had a lasting impact on perceptions of the brand. Following the tasting, 86% of the participants said they felt proud that a beer born in Singapore is recognised and enjoyed around the world, and 74% said they would actively choose Tiger Beer in future.

“Tiger has always been Singapore’s beer, one many of us grew up with,” said Tanya Lubis, Marketing Manager, Tiger Beer. “What was most rewarding was seeing that, when judged purely on taste, it continues to be preferred and loved by beer drinkers here. Today, it stands as one of Asia’s most awarded beers, and that journey from a local icon to a global success is something we believe Singaporeans should be incredibly proud of.”

As Tiger continues to grow internationally, the brand remains proudly rooted in Singapore. Today, while enjoyed globally in more than 60 markets worldwide, Tiger’s brand leadership, innovation and creative direction continue to be shaped from Singapore.

Vietnam Airlines has officially inaugurated its nonstop service between Hanoi and Amsterdam, becoming the first Vietnamese carrier to operate a direct route connecting Vietnam and the Netherlands.

The inaugural flight, VN83, departed Noi Bai International Airport at 3:50 AM on June 16, carrying nearly 300 passengers aboard an Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft. After a flight time of more than 12 hours, the aircraft landed at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. In the opposite direction, flight VN82 departed Amsterdam for Hanoi at 2:00 PM (local time) on the same day.

Vietnam Airlines will operate three round-trip flights per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Airbus A350 aircraft. The new route provides a direct air link between the two capitals, while offering passengers greater convenience and seamless onward connectivity across Europe and beyond.

Nguyen Quang Trung, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines, said: “The inauguration of the Hanoi–Amsterdam service reflects Vietnam Airlines’ continued commitment to expanding its international network and strengthening Vietnam’s connectivity with key global markets. This new route not only offers Vietnamese travellers more convenient access to Europe, but also facilitates greater travel to Vietnam for international visitors. As the national flag carrier, we will continue investing in service excellence and network development to meet evolving customer demand and further reinforce our role as an air bridge linking Vietnam with the world.”

Amsterdam serves as a major hub for finance, trade, logistics and commerce in Europe. Through Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, passengers can conveniently access hundreds of destinations across Europe and beyond, further enhancing Vietnam’s connectivity with international markets.

The new route also strengthens Vietnam Airlines’ presence in Europe. With the addition of Amsterdam, Vietnam Airlines now operates 12 nonstop routes linking Vietnam with eight major European destinations: Paris, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow and Amsterdam.

Beyond expanding the airline’s network, the new service is expected to support growing trade, investment and tourism flows between Vietnam and the Netherlands, while creating new opportunities for business, cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

From 1 July 2026, Vietnam Airlines will increase the frequency of its Hanoi–Moscow service from three to four round-trip flights per week to accommodate growing travel demand between Vietnam and Russia. Together, the launch of the Amsterdam route and the expanded Moscow schedule reflect the airline’s ongoing efforts to align capacity with market demand and support Vietnam’s increasing integration with the global economy.

Geely Preface TCR Secures Historic Triple Victory in Valencia, Showcasing CMA Engineering Excellence

VALENSIA, SPAIN – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 June 2026 – Geely Cyan Racing delivered a landmark result at the second round of the 2026 Kumho FIA TCR World Tour in Valencia, Spain, where Santiago Urrutia claimed victory in all three races with the Geely Preface TCR. The achievement marked the first time a driver has won all three races in a single FIA TCR World Tour weekend, highlighting both Urrutia’s performance and the competitiveness of Geely’s latest touring car program.

Held at Spain’s Ricardo Tormo Circuit, the event challenged teams with a revised track layout and high summer temperatures, placing significant demands on vehicle performance, thermal management, durability, and tyre consistency. Under these conditions, the Geely Preface TCR delivered consistent performance and reliability throughout the weekend, further demonstrating the engineering strengths of Geely’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA).

Developed through collaboration between engineering teams in China and Sweden, CMA serves as a cornerstone of Geely’s global vehicle strategy. Designed to meet international standards while supporting multiple powertrain technologies, the platform combines safety, performance, intelligence, and scalability across a wide range of production vehicles.

Motorsport provides one of the industry’s most demanding validation environments. Competing under extreme loads and rapidly changing conditions generates valuable data that supports continuous improvements in chassis tuning, steering response, thermal management, durability, and overall vehicle performance.

These lessons extend directly to the production Geely Preface. Built on the same CMA foundation as the race car, the sedan combines dynamic driving characteristics with technologies designed for everyday mobility. At its core is a 2.0TD turbocharged engine delivering 147 kW and 325 N·m of torque, paired with a body structure featuring 29,000 N·m/deg torsional rigidity for enhanced stability and handling.

Inside, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 cockpit platform powers a responsive interface, complemented by a 13.2-inch 2K central display for intuitive control. A 540-degree surround-view camera system enhances visibility, while a suite of safety technologies, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), reinforces driver confidence in everyday conditions.

For Geely, motorsport is more than competition. Every race weekend strengthens the link between motorsport development and production vehicles, helping transform race-proven engineering into enhanced safety, reliability, and driving confidence for customers worldwide.

As the FIA TCR World Tour progresses across Europe and Asia, Geely Cyan Racing continues to push boundaries on track while advancing technologies for the road. The Geely Preface stands as a compelling example of how global motorsport success can be transformed into tangible performance and value for drivers worldwide.

On 11 June, police in Vientiane Capital arrested seven members of a youth gang following an armed robbery that left a victim injured and his motorbike stolen with the gang member claiming to have around 200 members.

According to authorities, the arrests followed an investigation into a robbery that took place on 8 June in Nongpanai village, Sikhottabong district.

State security media side victims Xuen, 18, and Bin, 23, were approached by a group of youths while parked outside a roadside shop in Nongpanai village. Police said one suspect, armed with a traditional Lao sword, struck one of the victims on the arm before the group stole their motorcycle and fled the scene.

Following the incident, police arrested seven suspects aged between 14 and 17 on 11 June. Authorities identified the suspects as members of a youth gang known as “Soi Jone”

During questioning, police said the suspects admitted involvement in the robbery and claimed the gang has approximately 200 members. According to their statements, members typically gather in groups of eight to ten motorcycles and ride around Vientiane at night.

Police also said every day, the group targeted pedestrians and motorists using Ngao, knives, and imitation firearms to steal motorcycles, mobile phones, money and other valuables near Mekong River and Patuxay. The suspects reportedly told investigators that proceeds from the robberies were used to purchase kratom drinks and other items.

According to police, the gang had attempted to attack two people near Chao Anouvong Park, but the victims managed to escape. The suspects later encountered and targeted the two construction workers in Nongpanai village.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing as officers work to identify and arrest additional suspects believed to be connected to the gang.

Doing Good Index 2026: Asia’s US$753 Billion Philanthropic Potential Remains Unrealized

In the 2026 edition of its flagship policy report the Doing Good Index, the Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society (CAPS) finds that Asia’s capacity to deploy private capital for social good is not keeping pace with its potential.

  • Asia’s social sector is under strain: 78% of the 2,166 social delivery organizations (SDOs) surveyed report insufficient domestic funding.
  • Asia is one of the fastest-growing regions for wealth creation, yet the policies and incentives needed to channel it toward social good are not keeping pace.
  • Singapore has become the first economy to enter the “Doing Excellent” category, demonstrating what alignment across regulations, tax incentives, government partnerships and efforts to create a culture of giving can achieve.
  • 84% of Asian SDOs surveyed apply the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their operations, pointing to their enduring value as a shared framework for coordination and collective action beyond 2030.

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 June 2026 – Asia’s social needs are intensifying, and official development assistance is declining. Yet, while the region’s wealth is growing dramatically, the policies, incentives and partnerships needed to channel private capital toward social good are not keeping pace. That is a key finding of the Doing Good Index 2026, the fifth edition of CAPS’s flagship policy report, which assesses the enabling environment for private social investment across 17 Asian economies.

DGI 2026 Press Release Cover

The report finds that while the enabling environment for private social investment is in place across much of the region, its effectiveness remains uneven. Improvements in registration processes and accountability mechanisms have been accompanied by persistent barriers, including restrictions on foreign funding, regulatory complexity, and inconsistent government engagement. In many cases, policies exist on paper but are not fully implemented in practice, limiting their impact.

At the same time, although trust in SDOs remains high across the region, broader ecosystem conditions, such as media sentiment, talent pipelines, and institutional support, are showing signs of strain. 81% of SDOs struggle to secure unrestricted funds for their work, while 73% report difficulty recruiting staff, constraining the sector’s ability to turn trust into impact.

“Asia has the wealth, the will, and in many economies, the foundations of a strong enabling environment. What is needed now is concerted, aligned effort to bring them together. The potential is enormous,” said Ruth Shapiro, Co-Founder and CEO, Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society.

Unlocking Asia’s US$753 Billion Philanthropic Potential

Even as Asia’s wealth continues to grow, the region faces significant and intensifying challenges across climate, education and health. Official development assistance is declining, and there is increasing pressure on domestic resources at precisely the moment demand for social services is rising.

If Asian economies were to contribute just 2% of GDP to philanthropy, as the United States does, it could generate an estimated US$753 billion annually for social good. That represents 15 times the official development assistance flowing into the region, and almost half the financing needed to hit the UN’s SDGs in Asia. But realizing that potential depends on strengthening the policies, incentives and partnerships that enable private capital to flow toward social good. The Doing Good Index 2026 finds that across much of Asia, those conditions are not yet in place.

“The world has changed dramatically, and Asia can no longer rely on others to address its social challenges. The Doing Good Index 2026 shows the region has the potential to meet this moment, but only if governments and philanthropists act together to build the conditions that make it possible,” said Ronnie Chan, Chairman, Centre for Asian Philanthropy and Society.

Singapore Shows What Alignment Can Achieve
Singapore has, for the first time, entered the top “Doing Excellent” category in the Doing Good Index 2026, reflecting years of deliberate effort to build a strong culture of philanthropy and civic engagement. Clear regulations, generous tax incentives, openness to foreign funding, and close collaboration between government and the social sector have created a strong enabling environment.

Singapore’s achievement demonstrates that when regulations, fiscal policy, ecosystem conditions and procurement work in concert, the outcomes are stronger. While no two economies will follow the same path, Singapore’s experience highlights the conditions that matter, such as the active promotion and alignment of philanthropy and giving across the whole of society.

The SDGs: Falling Short but Still Relevant in Asia
In the run-up to 2030, global progress toward the SDGs has fallen short of ambition, and Asia is no exception. Yet the Doing Good Index 2026 finds that 84% of SDOs continue to apply the SDGs in their work. Further, the rise of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) reporting has not displaced them, because most SDOs see the two frameworks as complementary rather than competing.

As the deadline approaches, the Index points to their enduring value not as a target but as a shared framework for strategy, coordination and collective action in the years ahead.

Other Findings from the Report

  • Talent shortages persist for Asia’s social sector: more than 70% of SDOs face difficulty recruiting and retaining staff across Asia.
  • AI adoption is happening, but usage remains limited: only 13% of surveyed SDOs report using AI regularly.
  • 39% of SDOs say claiming tax benefits is difficult, suggesting administrative barriers may be limiting the impact of existing incentives for giving.

About the Doing Good Index

Released biennially and now in its fifth edition, the Doing Good Index is CAPS’s flagship policy research that assesses the enabling environment for doing good in Asia: the systems, policies and practices that facilitate or constrain philanthropic giving and the deployment of this capital.

CAPS’s research team surveyed 2,166 social delivery organizations (SDOs) and conducted 132 interviews with sector experts across 17 Asian economies to provide a comparative, evidence-based view of where environments are supportive, where gaps persist, and how systems can be strengthened to better mobilize private resources for public good.

The Index looks at indicators under four sub-indexes: regulations, tax and fiscal policy, ecosystem, and government procurement, which provide an understanding of the specific measures economies have taken to catalyze philanthropic giving and promote social sector development.

Since its inception, the Index has been an essential resource for policymakers, philanthropists, and nonprofit leaders seeking to understand and improve the conditions for giving across the region.

NLCS (Singapore) Honoured at the Employee Experience Awards 2026 for its HR Digital Transformation Strategy

Recognising a Shared Commitment to Employee Experience

NLCS (Singapore) HR team receiving the Bronze award for Best HR Digital Transformation Strategy at the Employee Experience Awards 2026

NLCS (Singapore), an international school in Singapore, has been awarded Bronze in the Best HR Digital Transformation Strategy category at the Employee Experience Awards (EXA) 2026, one of Asia’s most prestigious pan-regional HR accolades.

Held at Shangri-La Singapore, the awards brought together leading organisations from across a range of industries to celebrate progress and recognise initiatives that support people in the workplace. Guided by an esteemed panel of judges, the Employee Experience Awards focus on four key areas – leadership, learning, engagement and talent acquisition.

What the EXA 2026 Award Recognises

NLCS (Singapore)’s bronze win in the Best HR Digital Transformation Strategy category reflects the school’s ongoing work in modernising its HR processes through digitisation and digitalisation, with the goal of streamlining operations, improving the employee experience, and better supporting the needs of the wider school community.

This recognition speaks to the work taking place behind the scenes to improve the staff experience, ensuring colleagues are supported by systems and processes that free them to focus on what matters most – supporting students and delivering an outstanding education.

Elvin Goh, Senior HR Manager at NLCS (Singapore), shared that receiving this recognition is meaningful for the team, not because of the award itself, but because of what it reflects.

“This is a shared achievement, and one that speaks to the consistent work that has gone into ensuring our people feel supported. Our vision has always been to put staff experience first, and this is an encouraging sign that we are heading in the right direction.”

A Better Staff Experience Across the School

Danielle Lim, Personal Assistant to the Senior School Principal added, “Having clearer systems and easier access to support has freed us up to focus on what we are here to do. It is encouraging to see continued efforts to simplify processes and make it easier for staff to access the support and information they need.”

Experiences like these reflect the broader impact of the work on employee experience. When the right systems and processes are in place, the difference is felt across the whole school community.

A Reflection of Collective Effort

While the award was received by the Human Resources team, it reflects the contributions of many colleagues across the school who have embraced new ways of working and supported ongoing improvements.

For NLCS (Singapore), this recognition represents a continued commitment to putting people first, fostering a workplace where staff feel supported and where the conditions are in place for great teaching and learning to thrive.
