Laos, South Korea Sign USD 1.1 Million in Agriculture Deals

Laos and South Korea signed two agriculture cooperation agreements worth more than USD 1.1 million to strengthen green agriculture, smart farming, and agricultural exports.

Laos and South Korea have sealed two new agriculture deals worth more than USD 1.1 million.

The two countries signed the memorandums of understanding (MOUs) at the 2nd K-Green Agro Partnering Forum 2026, held on 18 June in Vientiane, with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, South Korea’s trade representative agency in Laos.

The first MOU establishes a pilot project to export Lao-grown chili peppers and cabbage to the South Korean market, covering cultivation support, quality management, and export verification.

Another agreement focuses on cooperation in tissue culture technology, building on Korea’s growing role in transferring smart agriculture know-how to Laos.

According to reports by Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Chanthakhone Boualaphanh, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Environment, said the forum is not merely a technical or business-matching platform but a venue reflecting the “shared vision” of both countries in building a modern, green, sustainable, and climate-resilient agricultural future.

She added that “Green Agriculture” stands as a key strategy for transforming Laos’ agricultural sector.

Officials and agricultural experts highlighted Laos’s strong potential to expand exports of high-value crops, noting that South Korean expertise in smart farming and data-driven planning could help Lao farmers address productivity and climate-related challenges.

According to the World Bank, about 70 percent of Laos’ workforce works in agriculture, and the government aims to raise the sector’s share of GDP to over 20 percent in 2026.

Beyond the two signed MOUs, the forum’s business matching session connected 12 Korean companies with more than 25 Lao partners. These talks generated broader cooperation agreements and follow-up discussions worth an estimated USD 14 million, separate from the USD 1.1 million tied to the signed MOUs.

The forum also reviewed progress on a 2025 agreement between Laos’s National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute and a Korean smart agriculture firm, now advancing toward an AI-driven pilot project covering livestock management and disease-free seedling cultivation.

Participants also discussed how regional infrastructure projects, including the Laos-Vietnam Railway and expanding logistics parks and dry ports, are expected to improve Laos’ connectivity to international markets and lower transport costs for agricultural exports.

EirGenix Showcases Dual-Track Biosimilars and CDMO Strategy in U.S. Market Push at BIO 2026

SAN DIEGO, June 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — At BIO 2026, EirGenix presented its comprehensive HER2-positive breast cancer biosimilar portfolio and highlighted its integrated one-stop contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) service platform. The company actively pursued U.S. market opportunities through business matchmaking and global partnership discussions. While antibody-drug conjugates, other oncology and immunology biologics, and biosimilars continue to drive growth, CDMOs are gaining strategic importance amid ongoing global supply chain restructuring.

In an industry shifting from single-product competition toward platform-based and combination-therapy strategies amid geopolitical uncertainty, EirGenix addresses the challenge of finding new growth engines in mature markets through its dual-track approach. By combining targeted biosimilar development with a flexible CDMO model, the company captures high-potential oncology opportunities while helping partners accelerate global commercialization.

Breast Cancer Remains a Core Battlefield in Oncology Innovation

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, making it the second most commonly diagnosed cancer worldwide. The large patient population and steadily rising treatment demand continue to drive sustained pharmaceutical investment in the field.

Market research from Grand View Research projects that the global breast cancer drug market will expand from USD 36.6 billion in 2024 to USD 69.7 billion by 2033, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.1%.

HER2-positive breast cancer accounts for approximately 15% to 20% of all breast cancer cases. Historically, this subtype was associated with aggressive tumor biology and poor prognosis. However, the introduction of trastuzumab validated HER2 as a therapeutic target and reshaped the treatment paradigm.

Since then, innovation in HER2-positive therapy has accelerated. Dual-target regimens, subcutaneous formulations, and antibody-drug conjugate (ADC)-based approaches have reshaped the competitive landscape. Today, differentiation extends beyond efficacy, increasingly focusing on treatment convenience and patient experience.

Biosimilars for HER2-Positive Breast Cancer Drive EirGenix’s Next Growth Phase

The global biopharmaceutical industry is entering a major patent cliff, as approximately $300 billion of biologics are expected to lose patent protection over the next decade. This transition is creating significant opportunities for biosimilar developers across major therapeutic areas, especially in oncology and immunology. This is unlocking a vast market potential for biosimilars. While 118 biologics are set to lose exclusivity by 2034, a striking 106 of them currently have no biosimilars in development.

At the same time, global regulatory frameworks are becoming increasingly harmonized. Agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) are aligning expectations for biosimilar approval pathways. Development requirements are increasingly focused on in vitro comparability and on pharmacokinetic bioequivalence data, reflecting a more streamlined regulatory approach. This shift is reducing reliance on large-scale Phase III clinical trials, ultimately shortening development timelines while lowering costs and clinical risk.

Against this backdrop, EirGenix has strategically prioritized HER2-positive breast cancer within its biosimilar portfolio. The company’s pipeline spans multiple modalities, including trastuzumab and pertuzumab, as well as subcutaneous combination formulations designed to improve treatment convenience and administration efficiency. In parallel, EirGenix is advancing development efforts in next-generation ADC biosimilars.

Beyond single-agent development, EirGenix is also exploring combination therapy strategies to address mechanisms of resistance in oncology treatment. These include potential co-development approaches involving ADC biosimilars alongside immune checkpoint inhibitors such as atezolizumab, as well as other targeted therapies including daratumumab.

As additional oncology biologics approach patent expiration, the company continues to evaluate and prioritize future targets across its development pipeline. This proactive portfolio strategy is designed to strengthen its positioning in the rapidly evolving immuno-oncology biosimilar landscape.

Supply Chain Restructuring Elevates the Strategic Role of CDMO Partners

Beyond biosimilars, CDMO services represent a second core pillar of EirGenix’s business strategy.

Global supply chain restructuring, the rapid rise of biotech startups, and increasing demand for biologics are reshaping outsourcing models across the pharmaceutical industry. In the United States, companies of all sizes are increasingly relying on external partners to support both development and manufacturing activities. This shift is driven by the need to reduce capital expenditure while improving R&D efficiency and operational flexibility.

With demonstrated leadership in commercial-scale GMP biologics manufacturing, EirGenix provides integrated CDMO services across the full product lifecycle. Unlike development-focused CDMOs with limited scale and late-stage capabilities, EirGenix operates a fully integrated, commercially scaled platform spanning cell line engineering, process and analytical development, technology transfer, and GMP manufacturing. This delivers strong performance across the entire value chain from early-stage development through commercialization.

Its service scope covers monoclonal antibodies, bispecific antibodies (BsAbs), and other complex biologics. By integrating these capabilities, EirGenix expands cross-border collaboration opportunities and reinforces its positioning in the global biologics outsourcing market.

EirGenix Advances Dual-Track Growth in Biosimilars and CDMO Services at BIO Convention

The United States remains the largest pharmaceutical market globally. At BIO 2026, EirGenix strengthened its international visibility by showcasing its R&D capabilities and engaging in active partnering discussions and industry networking.

The company reiterated its commitment to expanding its global footprint, with a strategic focus on capturing opportunities from biosimilar patent expirations and increasing global demand for CDMO partnerships.

EirGenix highlighted its long-term dual-track growth strategy: advancing high-value biosimilar assets while leveraging its commercial-scale development and manufacturing platform to support global clients across the entire product lifecycle.

This integrated approach is designed to accelerate development timelines for partners while improving commercialization efficiency. Ultimately, it positions EirGenix as an integrated enabler within the rapidly growing global biologics ecosystem.

Sungrow PowerKeeper Unlocks Greater Solar Value for Australian Medical Wholesaler

SYDNEY, June 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Sungrow, the globally leading PV inverter and energy storage system provider, has partnered with Smart Commercial Energy to deploy its PowerKeeper commercial energy storage solution for Team Medical Supplies, one of Australia’s largest medical wholesalers.

PowerKeeper Unlocks Greater Value from Existing Solar Infrastructure
PowerKeeper Unlocks Greater Value from Existing Solar Infrastructure

The project enables Team Medical Supplies to reduce electricity costs, increase solar self-consumption and strengthen energy resilience for temperature-sensitive medical products. With heavy reliance on cold rooms, freezers and air-conditioning to maintain critical storage conditions, the business sought a solution that could maximise the value of its existing solar investment while reducing exposure to rising energy costs.

PowerKeeper Unlocks Greater Value from Existing Solar Infrastructure

At the heart of the installation is Sungrow’s SH110CX commercial hybrid inverter paired with two 50 kWh PowerKeeper battery stacks (ST100CF), seamlessly integrated with the site’s existing 200 kW solar system.

The project presented a significant challenge from the start, in that the site’s existing switchboard constraints limited conventional battery integration options. Sungrow’s hybrid inverter SH110CX and PowerKeeper battery can be easily integrated with the site’s existing solar infrastructure, helping minimise installation complexity, reduce disruption and preserve the value of the customer’s previous solar investment.

“From an engineer’s perspective, there was this gap in the commercial market where we didn’t have any dedicated commercial hybrid inverters and battery systems. The PowerKeeper series serves as a perfect, elegant solution to commercial use cases where there is a single 110-kilowatt hybrid inverter that can take up to 250 kilowatt hours of battery, as well as 150kW of solar,” Liam Emmett, Project Engineer of Smart Commercial Energy.

“PowerKeeper is a game changer for commercial energy storage,” said Young Zhao, Service Manager of Sungrow Australia. “Its flexible design helps businesses overcome common site constraints while supporting multiple operating modes, including on-grid, off-grid and microgrid applications. This gives customers greater control over their energy usage while maximising the value of their solar investment.”

The solution also enables excess solar energy generated during the day to be stored and discharged when energy demand and electricity prices are higher, maximising self-consumption and improving overall energy efficiency.

“By storing excess solar energy generated during the day and using it when our cooling systems are running into the evening, we’ve reduced our reliance on the grid while improving the sustainability of our largest facility. The installation was straightforward, with no disruption to our operations, and the projected payback made it a compelling investment for the business, said Tom Vriens, Co-CEO of Team Medical Supplies.

Today, the battery system supplies approximately 18% of the site’s post-solar energy consumption, reduces annual carbon emissions by an estimated 19 tonnes, and delivers a strong return on investment.

Delivering Long-Term Value Through Partnership

The collaboration between Sungrow and Smart Commercial Energy – Australia’s leading commercial battery installer in 2025 reflects a shared commitment to delivering practical, future-ready energy solutions. Through a staged approach, beginning with two stages of rooftop solar, followed by the hybrid inverter and battery, Smart Commercial Energy ensured Team Medical Supplies could adopt new technology at the right time and with strong commercial viability.

Building a Scalable Energy Future

With the system already delivering strong results, Team Medical Supplies is well positioned to expand its energy storage capacity as future needs evolve. Sungrow will continue working with partners across Australia to help businesses maximise the value of solar and storage through flexible, scalable energy solutions.

Competition, Workplace Safety and Financial Pressures Shape Risk Agenda for Korean Businesses, Aon Survey

  • Competition rises as the top risk, reflecting intensifying markets, while workplace safety accountability remains high amid a stricter regulatory environment
  • Liquidity and natural catastrophe risks point to growing pressure on financial resilience

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – Media OutReach Newswire – 30 June 2026 – Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, today released the findings from South Korea for its 2025 Global Risk Management Survey, revealing that competition, workplace safety accountability and financial pressures are shaping the country’s risk agenda.

The survey, which gathered responses from nearly 3,000 organisations across 63 countries and 16 industries, highlights a risk environment shaped by digital transformation, economic uncertainty, geopolitical pressures and climate exposure.

Competition Tops the Risk Agenda in Korea

According to the survey, “Increasing competition” is the number one risk for organisations in Korea, compared with fifth globally. It also ranks as the top future risk over the next three years. The findings point to pressures in Korea’s market environment, where a relatively concentrated domestic market and high industry density are driving sustained competition.

Half of Korean respondents report financial losses linked to competition, above both the Asia Pacific (APAC) benchmark of 44.1 percent across APAC and global benchmark of 42.8 percent. Despite this impact, only 17.4 percent of Korean organisations report having a formal plan or review in place for competition risk, highlighting an opportunity to strengthen preparedness relative to exposure.

For Korean businesses, competition is no longer just a commercial issue – it is becoming a material driver of financial outcomes, with implications for margin pressure, investment capacity and long-term growth. This dynamic is closely linked to financial resilience, with sustained competition increasing the importance of liquidity and capital allocation decisions as businesses invest to maintain market position.

“Korea’s risk profile shows how structural market pressures are translating into tangible business impact,” said, Terence Williams, head of Commercial Risk for Aon in APAC. “Competition, regulation and financial volatility are converging, increasing the need for more connected risk strategies that link resilience with capital and growth decisions.”

Workplace Safety Accountability Remains a Major Concern

“Workplace accidents” remain among the top risks for Korean organisations, driven by stronger regulatory enforcement and increased accountability for organisations and senior management under the expanded Serious Accidents Punishment Act. Survey responses show that 64.3 percent of Korean organisations have a plan or formal review in place for work injuries, while over half (57.1 percent) are evaluating insurance or risk transfer solutions for this exposure. This suggests that workplace safety is being treated not only as a compliance requirement, but as a material governance and financial priority.

Financial Resilience Is Increasing in Importance

Natural catastrophe and liquidity risks are increasing in importance within Korea’s risk profile. “Weather and natural disasters” rank sixth among current risks, while “cash flow and liquidity risk” returns to the top 10 for the first time since 2019.While Korea is less exposed to large-scale catastrophe events than some APAC markets, recent extreme weather has still resulted in significant economic losses, including wildfires and flooding in 2025.

At the same time, cash flow and liquidity pressures are intensifying amid macroeconomic volatility, trade uncertainty and sustained competitive pressure. Survey data show that 78.6 percent of Korean organisations have a plan or formal review in place for liquidity risk – the highest level of preparedness among all top risks. The findings indicate that liquidity is closely linked to competitiveness, with sustained investment in talent, expansion and technology critical to maintaining market position.

2025 Top Ten Business Risks for Korea

The breadth of risks shaping Korea’s business environment is reflected in the current top ten rankings:

  1. Increasing Competition
  2. Economic Slowdown/Slow Recovery
  3. Business Interruption
  4. Work Injuries
  5. Property Damage
  6. Weather/Natural Disasters
  7. Regulatory/Legislative Changes
  8. Exchange Rate Fluctuation
  9. Cash Flow/Liquidity Risk
  10. Cyber Attacks/Data Breach

Future Risks Outlook

The findings suggest that Korean businesses are navigating an increasingly complex risk landscape shaped by both domestic pressures and global disruptions. “Increasing competition” remains the top future risk, while “cyber attacks and data breaches” continue to rise as organisations adapt to evolving operating environments.

Looking ahead, the survey highlights how these risks are expected to evolve as businesses position for growth:

  1. Increasing Competition
  2. Economic Slowdown/Slow Recovery
  3. Work Injuries
  4. Regulatory/Legislative Changes
  5. Cyber Attacks/Data Breach

A Greater Need for Structured, Data-Led Risk Management

The findings highlight a clear opportunity for Korean organisations to strengthen how risk is measured, managed and linked to strategic decision making. Compared with global peers, adoption of enterprise-wide risk management frameworks and quantitative analysis remains relatively limited. For example, only 22.2 percent of Korean organisations report that they have assessed increasing competition risk, and the same proportion report having developed continuity or risk management plans for it.

Cyber risk appears more mature, with 33.3 percent of organisations having developed continuity plans for cyber exposures.

More broadly, only 25 percent of Korean organisations report using a structured, enterprise-wide process to identify major risks, and just 2.9 percent use quantitative analytics tools to model risk scenarios and insurance strategies.

“The survey highlights a clear opportunity for Korean organisations to strengthen enterprise risk management and analytics capabilities,” said Kevin Kim, CEO of Korea for Aon. “By building stronger internal data, processes and expertise, businesses can move from reacting to risk toward making more confident, forward-looking decisions that support growth and capital efficiency.”

  • Tetra Pak has launched its 27th Sustainability Report, detailing progress on GHG emissions reductions across its value chain and its own operations
  • The company developed and launched an integrated climate and nature risk and opportunity assessment in 2025 to guide its actions in strengthening food system resilience

SINGAPORE, June 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Tetra Pak has launched its full-year 2025 (FY25) Sustainability Report, outlining how its continued emissions reductions are supporting greater resilience across the global food system.

Tetra Pak Sustainability Report
Tetra Pak Sustainability Report

In 2025, the company achieved a 34% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its value chain since 2019,[1] representing an improvement of almost 12 percentage points compared with the previous year,[2] while also reducing emissions across its own operations by 56%[3] and reaching 97% renewable energy consumption.

This progress reflects Tetra Pak’s growing focus on translating emissions reductions into long-term food system resilience. By directing efforts and investment towards areas where it can deliver the greatest long-term value, the company aims to support more efficient, robust food production while continuing to reduce its environmental impact.

Adolfo Orive, President & CEO at Tetra Pak, comments: “Feeding a growing global population is becoming ever more complex as environmental risks intensify. This is why we remain firmly committed to strengthening the resilience of the world’s food systems. With clear, measurable targets in place, 2025 marked a year of tangible progress, including passing the milestone of a onethird reduction in greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain. Achieving lasting change depends on collaboration, and we look forward to continuing to work closely with our customers and partners to turn shared ambition into enduring progress.”

To guide its actions and investment decisions, and to support more efficient, resilient food systems, Tetra Pak developed and launched an integrated climate and nature risk and opportunity assessment in 2025. The assessment identified priority risks and opportunities to build resilience across the company’s operations and value chain, supported by plans to address each priority area. Tetra Pak also revised its Approach to Nature framework, reflecting learnings to ensure it remains relevant in a rapidly evolving industry landscape. As part of this, the company introduced new or updated targets in response to developments in specific action areas.

Several initiatives and innovations were introduced or developed in 2025 to help customers significantly reduce utility, material and energy use by embedding a total cost of ownership (TCO) mindset that assesses the overall lifecycle cost of equipment. This was reinforced by the launch of Tetra Pak® Factory OS™, a next-generation automation and digital ecosystem that combines modular, scalable and smart technologies with deep industry and equipment expertise to help customers better understand and mitigate losses in their operations.

Overall, 2025’s progress sees Tetra Pak on track to meet its long-term climate targets. These include achieving a 46% reduction in value chain GHG emissions by 2030, increasing renewable electricity consumption across operations to 100% by 2030, and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

Other notable achievements shared in the FY25 Sustainability Report include:

  • Investing approximately €100 million in packaging research and development to address the sustainability of Tetra Pak packages. This investment led to a world-first paper barrier for juice packages, delivering a 43% lower carbon footprint than an aseptic package with an aluminium foil layer and a fossil-based polymer.
  • Renewing its focus on decarbonising food systems by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) at COP30, to scale innovation in this area.
  • Providing 68 million children across 52 countries with milk or other beverages in its packages through school feeding programmes, an increase of two million children and three additional countries from 2024.
  • Conducting an in-depth review of priority human rights impacts along the full value chain.
  • Expanding restoration efforts through the Araucaria Conservation Project, with over 1,600 hectares added in 2025 alone, more than doubling the total area of land under restoration in a single year.

The FY25 Sustainability Report is available online now.
