BEIJING, Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A report from China Daily

Belt and Road countries a new addition to event planned in Ningxia Hui autonomous region
Belt and Road countries a new addition to event planned in Ningxia Hui autonomous region

The Ningxia Hui autonomous region is ready for the seventh China-Arab States Expo, to be held in its capital city Yinchuan from Thursday to Sunday. The event now promotes not only cooperation between Ningxia and Arab countries but partnership with those involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

With the theme of “Innovation, Green Development and Prosperity”, this year’s expo will feature BRI-related trade and investment promotion activities, two institutional events, six major exhibition zones, eight subevents and other economic and trade networking activities.

Among BRI-related activities will be the Promotion Event on Overseas Industrial Parks and Infrastructure Investment and Construction in BRI Countries, the Multinational Economic and Trade Cooperation Meeting in Ningxia, and the China-Arab States Green and Low-Carbon Products Matchmaking and Exchange Event.

The United Arab Emirates is the guest country of honor, which features a UAE national pavilion and is set to host a promotion conference on China-UAE economic and trade cooperation along with some visits. The Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region is invited as the theme province, with Xinjiang pavilion exhibition and display activities, a Xinjiang-Ningxia investment promotion and industrial cooperation matchmaking meeting, and inspection and observation tours.

The six major exhibition zones are for BRI-related countries, regional economic cooperation, central State-owned enterprises, clean energy, the digital economy and specialty commodities.

The digital economy exhibition zone comprises displays of artificial intelligence, gaming industries, smart meteorology and cross-border e-commerce, with the AI and gaming sector exhibition areas being new.

In the clean energy display area, the “green electricity application zone” is to be set up for the first time and many leading companies will bring cutting-edge technologies and solutions. State Grid Ningxia Electric Power will showcase a model for the local consumption of new energy power.

The cross-border e-commerce exhibition has invited four leading platforms in the field — Amazon, Alibaba.com, Wayfair and Noon — and 56 other companies. It will focus on public experience and offer online and offline participation channels.

The eight subevents will focus on matchmaking and exchange of China-Arab states business community, technology transfer and innovation cooperation, modern agriculture, water resources, health, China-Arab tour operators, high-quality meteorological development, and China-Arab standardization and intellectual property exchange.

Among other activities at the expo are the “Silk Road E-commerce” Cooperation and Innovation Development Conference, BRI gourmet culture display and sale, exhibition cooperation and resource matchmaking, and new product launch events.

The China-Arab States Expo is jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Ningxia government. Its predecessor was the China (Ningxia) International Investment and Trade Fair and the China-Arab States Economic and Trade Forum, which was held annually from 2010 to 2012. Approved by the State Council, the forum was renamed the China-Arab States Expo in 2012.Since 2013, it has been held biennially.

The six sessions of the expo have attracted the participation of 112 countries and regions, more than 400 important Chinese and foreign political figures, and over 7,500 domestic and foreign enterprises.

In terms of mechanism building, the expo adheres to a distinctive model of organization and the mechanism of guest countries and theme provinces. It has invited six Arab countries — the UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco and Saudi Arabia — as national guests of honor, and six Chinese provincial-level regions as theme provinces.

The expo focuses on practical economic and trade cooperation, aligning with the development strategies of China and Arab countries, and sets up diverse activities mainly based on trade in goods, services and technology. It has continuously fostered cooperation in trade and investment, modern agriculture, science and technology, green energy, digital economy, and healthcare. It also showcased high-quality products and the latest technologies needed by China and Arab countries.

In terms of outcomes, a total of 1,616 trade and investment cooperation projects have been signed, covering key China-Arab cooperation in areas such as infrastructure construction, capacity cooperation, high technology, healthcare and modern agriculture.

Several China-Arab partnership results have been released, including a report on the development process of China-Arab economic and trade relations. Some China-Arab bilateral and multilateral cooperation institutions — such as the China-Arab States Technology Transfer Center, a China-Arab commercial mediation center and a China-Arab agricultural technology transfer center — have been established in Ningxia.

In recent years, China-Arab economic and trade cooperation has made significant achievements. In terms of bilateral trade, China has signed BRI cooperation documents with 22 Arab countries and the League of Arab States. China has maintained its position as the largest trading partner of Arab countries for several years. Products such as Saudi shrimp, Tunisian olive oil, Sudanese sesame and Egyptian oranges are increasingly being favored by Chinese consumers.

For two-way investment, Chinese enterprises have established several industry parks in countries like Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, implementing a range of productive projects in metal smelting, building materials manufacturing, cotton spinning and aquaculture, thus aiding in the economic diversification of Arab countries.

Meanwhile, Arab sovereign wealth funds and enterprises have invested in China’s petrochemical, new energy and technology sectors, achieving mutual benefits.

Regarding infrastructure cooperation, Chinese companies have participated in engineering projects in Arab countries, expanding from traditional housing and road and bridge construction to broader fields such as high-speed rail, power stations, oil pipelines, communications and ports, with higher technological and equipment levels. Bilateral cooperation projects included the construction of an important highway in Algeria, a large stadium in Qatar and a photovoltaic power station in Saudi Arabia.

In emerging fields, China and Arab countries are exploring cooperation potential in cutting-edge areas such as e-commerce, cloud computing, AI, low-carbon development and financial technology. Chinese companies have established 5G commercial networks in Arab countries, enhancing local informatization levels. At the same time, Chinese e-commerce platforms are gradually entering markets in countries like Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, supporting the daily lives of Arab people.

Thailand unveils “Trusted Thailand” Stamp to boost global confidence

New safety initiative strengthens Thailands position as a trusted and welcoming destination for international visitors

BANGKOK, Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, today officially launched the “Trusted Thailand” Stamp to reinforce international confidence and enhance the kingdom’s image as a safe, reliable and welcoming destination. The initiative assures travellers of peace of mind when choosing Thailand, while recognising operators that meet the highest safety standards.

Mr. Jakkaphon Tangsutthitham, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports (fourth from left), and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (fifth from right), preside over the official launch of the “Trusted Thailand” safety stamp, joined by representatives from key government agencies and partners at the event in Bangkok.

Mr. Jakkaphon Tangsutthitham, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, said the Thai Government recognises that safety is the foundation of sustainable tourism and remains the first priority in policy. “China is a key source market, and it is crucial that we preserve trust among Chinese visitors. This launch reflects an invitation to all tourism operators, partnered agencies and stakeholders to work together in advancing Thailand’s tourism towards safe, secure and sustainable growth, ensuring Thailand remains one of the world’s top destinations of choice.

“The government has continuously paired safety measures with tourism promotion, including upgrading the standards of attractions, coordinating with security agencies, delivering accurate communication, and facilitating visitors in all dimensions. These efforts signal steady recovery and are the result of collective cooperation in building trust,” Mr. Jakkaphon added.

Thailand continues to attract travellers worldwide with its diverse tourism assets, warm hospitality and unique cultural identity. Yet, in today’s travel environment, safety has become a decisive factor, especially among families, female travellers, independent tourists, and quality visitors from key markets such as China, South Korea, Japan, the US, the UK, and Europe.

Online platforms and social media significantly shape a destination’s image, and negative reports can impact confidence on a wide scale. Recognising this, TAT has prioritised the development of a robust initiative that demonstrates Thailand’s readiness to be a safe, trustworthy, and friendly destination in both systemic and symbolic ways.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “The Trusted Thailand stamp is a practical mechanism to restore traveller confidence while laying the foundation for Thailand’s tourism industry to meet international safety standards. More than a symbol, it represents our commitment to making Thailand a destination where every visitor feels secure and truly welcome.”

Under this initiative, tourism operators will be assessed to receive the Trusted Thailand stamp, serving as a practical symbol of assurance to help visitors make informed decisions. The assessment covers four key areas: general safety measures at tourism sites such as CCTV installation, emergency response systems, controlled access and disaster preparedness; secure financial transactions with recognised global platforms and transparent practices (such as Alipay and WeChat Pay); foreign language communication and professional visitor care, particularly in emergencies; and safe access and mobility, including clear signposting, transport connections and information points.

Beyond certification, the project also features supporting activities to strengthen confidence across the sector. These include a public forum with agencies such as the Department of Provincial Administration, Department of Tourism, Tourist Police Bureau and Department of Land Transport to discuss integrated safety management; workshops on passenger transport safety with demonstrations of emergency procedures; and targeted campaigns to rebuild trust ahead of the high season in both short-haul markets like China and long-haul markets in Europe and the Americas.

The project targets a strong focus on accommodations, restaurants, attractions, recreational venues and shopping centres, which are key points of interest for Chinese travellers.

A dedicated minisite will be launched in September 2025, providing a self-assessment platform for operators and a directory of certified businesses accessible to visitors.

Initially, the Thailand Safe Travel Stamp project is scheduled to launch nationwide in October 2025, with implementation across the country. It will place strong emphasis on international publicity through multilingual content, targeted digital campaigns, and collaborations with key opinion leaders and influencers from priority markets. These efforts aim to project a refreshed image of Thailand as a modern, stable, and safe destination, under the concept “Travel Thailand with Confidence Every Step of the Way.”

Finding Stillness in a Chaotic World: “Peace in Solitude” a solo exhibition by Bongkojthip Bhirombhakdi

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Media OutReach Newswire – 27 August 2025 – Artist Bongkojthip Bhirombhakdi (Bua) invites audiences to step into a sanctuary of calm with her latest solo exhibition, Peace in Solitude, on view at Mini Xspace Gallery from August 2 – September 27, 2025.

image-1.jpeg

Following her previous series Journey to Tranquility, which explored a personal quest for inner peace through imagined natural landscapes from seas, skies and mountains to trees and various ecosystems, Bongkojthip now turns inward, focusing on the profound experience of arriving at a place of stillness – a state where the mind becomes quiet, calm and receptive. Through her new works, she captures the quiet clarity that emerges when solitude is embraced, and peace arises naturally from within.

In this series, Bongkojthip continues her use of the wet-on-wet technique but shifts her approach by working directly with her own hands rather than brushes. This tactile method allows pigments and water to flow more organically, mirroring the spontaneity and unpredictability of nature while embodying an act of mindfulness. The result is a body of work that feels both intimate and expansive, inviting viewers into the artist’s meditative process.

“For me, solitude is not emptiness. It is fullness. It is where the noise quiets down. You, then, begin to embrace the present moment and that’s when peace is no longer something to seek. It begins to gently surface. My hope is that viewers can feel this stillness through the work and carry a little of it with them,” says Bongkojthip Bhirombhakdi.

Cost of ‘bad hires’ impacting US industrial sector productivity and profitability, says new Talogy research

  • One in five (21%) organizations have experienced an increase in safety incidents as a result of a poor hire
  • 73% say they feel under pressure to hire quickly, resulting in rushed recruitment decisions
  • Hirers increasingly demanding transferable skills such as attention to detail, problem-solving and communication, as well as technical skills
  • Talogy launches I-Grade suite of solutions to help industrial organizations screen and select good candidates based on job-specific and transferable skills

GLENDALE, Calif., Aug. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — New research has found that decreased productivity, poor work quality and an increase in safety incidents are some of the costly consequences of hiring the wrong people for entry-level roles in the industrial sector.

The study – ‘Quality hires, quality output: Smart talent strategies for industrial hiring’ – from talent management solution provider, Talogy, investigated the challenges of hiring employees with the right mix of both technical and transferable skills to fulfil entry-level roles.

It surveyed 855 industrial hiring professionals in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, logistics, distribution, transportation, energy, warehousing, utilities, automotive and engineering.

With a skills shortage impacting many of these industries, the report found that a significant proportion of hirers – 73% – felt under pressure to hire quickly, but were seeing the consequences of rushed recruitment decisions.

More than half (51%) of respondents reported increased costs due to rehiring or training, particularly where transferable skills were lacking, while nearly two thirds (63%) saw decreased productivity and 56% reported poor work quality.

Most concerningly, one in five (21%) said their organization had experienced an increase in safety incidents as a result of a poor hire.

As a result, 85% of survey respondents believe that hiring for quality and skill readiness is becoming increasingly critical, particularly with advancements in technology impacting multiple industrial sectors.

Trevor McGlochlin, Managing R&D Consultant from Talogy, commented:

“In the industrial labor market, competition for entry-level talent remains high, and finding the right people to fulfil frontline roles is increasingly challenging. It is therefore not surprising that many employers rush to make quick hiring decisions, without potentially going through the right process.”

“However, this research reveals that prioritizing speed of hire over quality can be hugely detrimental. These are often sectors where employee performance directly impacts safety, productivity, and efficiency, and the fact that many of our respondents could directly link safety incidents to a poor hire is very worrying.”

“This is why quality is so important. A strong hire brings the right technical and transferable skills, as well as mindset, which reduces errors, minimizes downtime, and supports continuous improvement. This research shows the bottom-line impact of poor hires, which can significantly hurt output and profitability.”

The top four missing skills

Of the skills most commonly lacking in new hires, the research revealed that the top four were:

  • attention to detail
  • problem-solving
  • communication
  • advanced technical skills.

This showcases that transferable skills, as well as job-specific skills, are becoming an increasingly important factor in recruitment success.

Trevor McGlochlin continues:

“Industrial jobs are often shift-based, physically demanding, and require consistency, teamwork, and safety-mindedness. So, while a candidate may meet the basic technical requirements, if they don’t have qualities such as reliability, resilience, and attention to detail, candidates will be ABLE to do the job but are less likely to actually DO the job.”

“With technology changing so rapidly, recruiting people who have both technical and transferable skills is clearly a priority. These are skills that not only serve them well in their specific role but demonstrate future capabilities and agility.”

To support employers in the industrial sector to make informed hiring decisions, Talogy’s I-Grade (Industrial-Grade) suite of solutions are proven to help the sector hire more efficiently and effectively.

It includes screening and selection solutions that assess job-specific and transferable skills, providing data backed insights to ensure organizations are getting the right person for the role and their company. Using highly interactive simulations that keep candidates engaged from start to finish – from production simulations and hands-on assessments, to SJTs, and interactive safety modules – Talogy I-Grade is designed specifically to reduce drop-out rates and increase quality of hire.
