The Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) has revealed plans to celebrate its upcoming 66th anniversary on August 13.
A news conference on Wednesday morning in the capital outlined preparations for the event presided over by Vice President of Lao Front for National Construction, Mr. Khambai Damlath, with media and officials in attendance.
Mr. Khambai urged the media to actively promote events and activities related to the LFNC’s history and work, as well as the upcoming celebration.
Mr. Khambai, who is part of the organising committee, informed assembled media about activities currently underway in preparation of the anniversary which include history seminars for community leaders in districts across the country, a photo exhibition, along with readying for LFNC’s main celebratory event next week to highlight the organisation’s achievements.
The LFNC also plans to publish a history of the organisation covering all of its 66 years which will be released in the near future.
He also explained the history of the LFNC, pointing out its important role in boosting solidarity and mobilising all Lao people to support the national liberation movement, national defence and development.
The LFNC was established on August 13, 1950, and was initially known as the Lao Front of Liberty and then Lao Front of Patriots. After Laos achieved liberation, the organisation was given the name it holds today.
The LFNC is the face of Lao national unity, social- political relations, and voluntary unionism. It was established to represent the political, social- political, and personal wishes of all Lao people, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, or age.
This year’s activities include a ceremonial meeting of former front leaders and the LFNC President’s Cup sporting competition.
Sporting activities will include football, badminton, petanque and cycling, along with performing arts and a community walk to commemorate the occasion.
Every year, the LFNC gives high priority to promoting and disseminating the results of its work to the public.
This year they will also focus on disseminating the success of the 10th national meeting of the LFNC, where strength and weaknesses were evaluated along with challenges and the lessons leant from past implementation.
Besides that, they outlined highlights of the 10th Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, which took place from January 18-22 to review the Party leadership, discuss and approve the next five-year roadmap, and review all-round national development and protection under the leadership of the Party over the past five years.
The Congress reviewed the implementation of the Resolution adopted by the 9th Party Congress, Draft Vision for 2030, draft of the 8th Five- Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan, the draft Socio-Economic Development Strategy for the next 10 years until 2025, and approved an amendment to the Party statute.
