Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Prof. Dr Bosengkham Vongdara led a delegation in attending the UNWTO International Conference on Tourism and Sports in Da Nang, Vietnam last week.
Ministry of Culture and Sports of Vietnam, who was also host of the 5th Asian Beach Games, co-organised the event with the UNWTO from September 23-26.
At the conference, officials and experts shared views through lectures Tourism and Sports for Sustainable Economic Development, Tourism and Sports Product and Activity Development, and Tourism and Sports Marketing and Promotion.
They also learned about the integration of tourism products and sports activities, including sporting competitions being an option for international tourist attraction in achieving the goal of sustainable socio-economic development.
Participants also learned about advertising and marketing a diversity of tourism products through organising adventure, popular and recreational sporting activities using various media such as TV and other global electronic marketing channels.
During the visit in Vietnam, a bilateral meeting between the Lao delegation and Vietnamese officials from the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism led by Prof. Dr Bosengkham and Vietnamese Minister of Culture and Sports Dr Nguyen Ngoc Thien took place.
The two sides agreed on cultural and tourism exchange programmes in preparation to celebrate the upcoming 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the 40 anniversary of the Treaty on Friendship and Comprehensive Cooperation between the two nations next year.
