An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck central Laos yesterday at 5:10am, according to a report by the Lao Post. The earthquake hit close to Hongsa, in Xayabouly Province, affecting nearby townships and villages including Ban Thasuang, Ban Kieusala, Ban Thanoune, and Ban Huaylai.
There have been no reports of damage or injury caused by the earthquake, although tremors were felt by some residents.
