Hot Weather Forecast for Central and Southern Laos

Hot weather is in store for central and southern Laos this week, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

A notice issued by the department says temperatures will be higher during the day for central and southern areas, including Vientiane Capital, while high-pressure systems will keep cooler temperatures for northern parts of Laos and at the Bolaven plateau.

The report says there will is rain and windy weather forecast for some parts of northern and central Laos, with cool weather at night.

During the day, the heat will be more extreme in central and southern Laos, with
temperatures ranging from 19 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Vientiane Capital will see lows of 19 and highs of up to 35 degrees this week.

Northern and eastern areas have experienced the coolest weather this year, down to as low as -1.2 degrees early last month, while Vientiane Capital experienced lows of between 8 to 10 degrees.

Water levels in some sections of the Mekong River have increased slightly over the last month.

According to the Mekong River Commission, in the Lower Mekong River Basin, the increase was more apparent from Chiang Saen in Thailand to Vientiane, but less discernible in stretches of the river between Nakhon Phanom in Thailand and Savannakhet, and Kompong Cham in
Cambodia and the Mekong Delta in Vietnam.
