The recently opened That Luang Lake Market, also known as Beung That Luang Market, has become a shopping hotspot overnight after the closure of other markets around Vientiane Capital.
The market’s management stated on its Facebook page that it will not be charging any parking fees for shoppers, while vendors will not be charged rent for the time being.
Furthermore, the market says that its products are brought in fresh from slaughterhouses and farms, rather than being purchased at a larger market and onsold.
This means the prices remain competitive when compared to other markets.
Residents have raised concerns about the number of cars parked along the roadside near the market, particularly with lockdown being extended in Vientiane Capital.
Director of the That Luang Lake market, Mr. Phonepaseuth Inthasone, says there is adequate parking for a large number of vehicles and that parking remains free of charge for all types of vehicles, according to a report by Lao Economic Daily.
Customers can report any market regulatory infractions, particularly any unfair product pricing, to That Luang Lake Market management at 020 9212 7371.
That Luang Lake Market officially opened on 4 April 2021, in Phonthan Village, Saysettha District, Vientiane Capital, inside the That Luang Marsh Specific Economic Zone.
