Police have seized a total of over seven thousand kilograms of illicit drugs in Bokeo Province this month.

According to a report by Public Security Magazine, over 55 million amphetamine tablets, and 1,537 packets of crystal methamphetamines were confiscated in Bokeo, with two drug traffickers arrested.

Police confiscated a massive quantity of amphetamines last week, totaling over 50 million tablets, which were being transported in a truck carrying crates of empty beer bottles.

The driver, who is now under investigation, claims he had no idea of the contents of the empty bottles and was simply hired to transport them from Bokeo Province.

Lao Brewery Co., Ltd, said in a statement yesterday that it had no involvement in the illicit drug smuggling case in Bokeo province.

Meanwhile, police in Ton Pheung District, Bokeo Province, seized over six million tablets of amphetamines in a massive drug haul on Monday.

The Lao government has declared drug prevention and control a national agenda, which calls for decisive action and the participation of multiple sectors to combat the narcotics threat.
