A Chinese national was found dead floating in the river in Pak Tha district, Bokeo province.
The body was identified as a 23-year-old Chinese woman from Sichuan province, China, who worked in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone.
When the Bokeo rescue team arrived on the scene they discovered her body, along with other tragedy-related evidence, close to the river’s edge.
Authorities are investigating the incident and interviewing witnesses for more information. They will announce the causes of the young woman’s death later on.
Earlier this month, police apprehended 13 individuals in connection with the ransom, kidnapping, and murdering of two men in a forested area on the outskirts of Vientiane.
Those victims—a Laotian man and a Chinese man—appear to have been attacked, according to the police, who discovered slash wounds on their bodies.
