Road tax payments in Laos for 2023 are now payable via a range of different methods, including a new mobile application from Joint Development Bank (JDB).
According to the Bank of Lao PDR Facebook page, vehicle owners can pay 2023 road tax via “various mobile applications,” at bank branches, at the tax department directly, or at their local village office.
Meanwhile, JDB customers can now pay their road tax through the JDB Yes Mobile Banking app or at one of 64 branches across the country from Wednesday, according to an announcement by the bank.
Customers on JDB Yes Mobile Banking app can show the payment barcode to redeem the toll sticker at any branch of the Joint Development Bank.
It is unclear whether Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao Public (BCEL) will continue to provide the road tax payment service via its special electronic kiosks around Vientiane.
Motorists who missed the deadline to pay taxes in 2022 faced fines of up to 40 percent of their unpaid road taxes for each offense.
