Laos can expect both hotter and wetter weather in some parts of the country this week, according to the weather department.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts that parts of the country will see rain over the next few days, while some northern provinces will see cool weather due to high pressure systems moving down from China.
Oudomxay, Luang Namtha, Bokeo, Luang Prabang, and Xayaboruy provinces will be hot in the afternoon with some light rain in some areas, seeing lows of 21 to 23 degrees and highs of 33 to 36 degrees.
The central province of Xaysomboun will see some rain in the morning while other central provinces will also be hot in the afternoon with the highest temperatures ranging from 33 to 36 degrees.
According to the forecast, Vientiane Capital and the southern provinces will have strong winds and heat, and storms may be possible.
A report issued by the Ministry Of Natural Resources and Environment earlier today stated that the Air Quality Index in Bokeo province reached the unhealthy level of 163, while Luang Prabang measured an AQI of 152.
