Laos, China Signed Agreement on Exchange, Cooperation in field of Law and Justice

On 21 November, the ministries of justice of Laos and China took a significant step toward strengthening their legal ties by signing an agreement aimed at deepening cooperation in the field of law and justice in Vientiane Capital. 

The signing ceremony was held between the two parties, and an MoU was signed to deepen and expand cooperation in law and justice. 

The event was jointly signed by Ketsana Phommachanh, Deputy Minister of Justice of Laos, and Wang Zhenjiang, Vice Minister of Justice of China. 

According to Lao National Radio, the areas of bilateral cooperation between Laos and China in justice work include, drafting and amending laws and regulations, enforcement of court judgments, professional regulation of lawyers and court registrars, legal aid, alternative dispute resolution including arbitration, mediation and administrative resolution, institutional operational management and professional development and capacity building for justice administration personnel, provision of legal services to the public, among others.

By working together on legal reforms, professional development, and dispute resolution, both countries are committed to improving their justice systems and providing better services to their citizens.
