Assurances General Laos Marks 35 Years, Reaffirms Leadership in Insurance Sector

On January 21, Assurances General Laos (AGL) celebrated its 35th anniversary at the Landmark Mekong Riverside Hotel. The event recognized the company’s achievements while unveiling a renewed vision to operate as a sustainable and customer-focused insurer.

Founded 35 years ago, AGL began with a mission to provide peace of mind to customers by helping manage risks to life and property.

Acting CEO Sengaloun Inmyxai said in her opening speech: “We are not just celebrating the success of the company; we are celebrating the moments of trust that every customer has given us throughout the past. We have stood by our customers through every era, becoming a vital pillar of the insurance sector in Laos. Our history has been built alongside the nation’s development, and that is a responsibility we take the highest pride in.”

In Products and Services

AGL offers a wide range of products to meet evolving customer needs. Motor insurance remains the core product, accounting for 45 percent of total sales, followed by life insurance, health insurance, and property insurance. The company operates an extensive nationwide network with more than 130 agents and over 50 strategic business partners. 

Customers also have access to 24-hour services through a dedicated service center and a network of standard hospitals and garages both domestically and abroad. In addition, the “Voice of Customer” system is used to gather feedback and continuously improve service quality.

Digital Transformation

AGL has moved from paper-based contracts to fully digital operations. The “My Insurance” application allows customers to purchase, renew, pay premiums, and report claims anytime, anywhere. Partnerships with leading banks including BCEL, LDB, and JDB also increase payment convenience through banking apps.

Financial Performance

The company’s 2024 operating results demonstrate financial stability and growth, while, claims paid amounted to LAK 57.7 billion (about USD 2.6 million). 

AGL reflects its capacity to meet customer obligations and invest in future development.

Social Responsibility and Sustainability

AGL is the first insurer in Laos to implement electronic contracts (e-Policy). The “One-e, One Tree” project has planted over 3,000 trees in protected forests. The company also promotes renewable energy and waste separation to strengthen sustainability and global responsibility.

The celebration included a cake-cutting ceremony to launch the 35th-anniversary logo, the Staff Long Service Award, and the Top Agent 2025 awards. Staff also performed the “AGL Song” for the first time.

As a government-owned company, AGL reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards, expanding its customer base, and continuously developing quality services.
