The Lao Responsible Business Awards (RBA) 2026 brought together business leaders, development partners, and government representatives to recognize companies demonstrating ethical and sustainable practices across Laos.
Launched in 2021, the annual awards promote responsible business conduct and highlight the private sector’s role in environmental stewardship and social development. This year’s edition focused on two themes: Natural Resource Management and Diversity and Inclusion, with awards presented to both Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Large Enterprises.
The 2026 award ceremony was held at Holiday Inn & Suites Vientiane, welcoming more than 200 participants. Organizers introduced live sign language interpretation throughout the event to promote accessibility and inclusion. A trade fair featuring 50 exhibitors showcased sustainable products, services, and initiatives, including organizations promoting disability rights and social inclusion.
Vanthong Sithikoun, Vice President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), delivered the opening remarks. Four winners were selected from 13 shortlisted candidates based on impact, innovation, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability.
Under the Natural Resource Management theme, the SME award was presented to Lao Chaluen Recycling for its waste sorting and Refuse-Derived Fuel production systems, which convert non-recyclable waste into energy for industrial use. The award was presented by Cashel Gleeson, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Vientiane.
In the Large Enterprise category, Laos Buffalo Dairy received recognition for its business model that rents lactating buffalo from local farmers, creating an additional income stream while maintaining farmer ownership of livestock. The award was presented by Caitlin Sievert, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Canada to Laos.
For Diversity and Inclusion, the SME award went to Vanmai Coffee Cooperative, a community-owned enterprise supporting rural families to transition away from opium cultivation while promoting women’s participation in leadership roles. The prize was presented by Mark Gallagher, EU Ambassador to Lao PDR.
In the Large Enterprise category, Panyathip British International School was recognized for its diverse school community and student-led Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives supporting local children. The award was presented by Benita Sommerville, Australia’s Deputy Head of Mission.
