Xujialou Subdistrict in Taishan District, Tai’an City, Shandong Province Launches Nationwide Reading Campaign

This Week

JINAN, China, April 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A report from Qilu Yidian: Recently, Xujialou Subdistrict in Taishan District, Tai’an City, Shandong Province, joined forces with local bookstores to launch a nationwide reading campaign, aiming to enrich residents’ cultural lives and ignite their passion for reading. The event seeks to create a community atmosphere of “loving reading, choosing good books, and reading effectively” through the power of literature, contributing to the construction of a book-loving society.

During the campaign, bookstores delivered over 300 carefully selected books to communities via a “mobile” service, covering categories such as children’s literature, general literature, Party history, red-themed stories, social sciences, and education to meet the needs of residents of all ages. Residents stopped to browse the books and shared their reading experiences, filling the scene with a strong cultural ambiance. Volunteers from the bookstores also distributed book coupons and recommended excellent publications to guide residents in developing good reading habits.

Additionally, subdistrict communities have established convenient book corners and mobile bookshelves to create “reading spaces right at residents’ doorsteps.” Relying on New Era Civilization Practice Stations, they have organized reading sharing sessions, lectures, and other activities to build diverse reading platforms. Full-time workers, grid administrators, and Party member volunteers have been actively mobilized to join reading promotion teams, providing reading services to residents and fostering a love for books.

This nationwide reading campaign has not only enhanced residents’ interest in reading and improved their cultural literacy but also injected new vitality into community cultural construction. In the future, the subdistrict will continue to expand reading platforms and diversify reading formats, ensuring the fragrance of books permeates every corner, promoting the campaign to deepen and solidify, and making reading an integral part of residents’ lives.
