The Electricité du Laos (EDL) announced a four-day schedule of daytime power cuts affecting three districts in Vientiane Capital, from 20 to 23 March.
The notice, issued 19 March, stated that the interruptions are necessary to allow electrical crews to safely connect new power lines and clear trees that have been encroaching on existing infrastructure.
The outages will begin in Sisattanak district on 20 March, where residents of Saphanthong and Saphangmo villages will experience a six-hour power cut from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Following that, attention shifts to Xaysettha district, which will bear the heaviest disruption of the series. Spanning two consecutive days, 21 March and 22 March, residents of Somsanga and Nakhuay villages will face nine-hour outages each day, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The schedule concludes in Xaythany district on 23 March, where Nakhae village will experience a comparatively brief three-hour interruption from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, marking the shortest cut in the four-day period.
EDL emphasized that the power cuts are essential to guarantee the safety of technicians working on the lines during installation.
Residents across all three districts are encouraged to plan ahead and make necessary arrangements during the affected hours.
