Fifth Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge Four Percent Complete

This Week

The 5th Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge, which links Beung Kan Province in northeastern Thailand to Paksan, Bolikhamxay Province in Laos, is now four percent complete.

According to a report by KPL, the fifth Lao-Thai friendship bridge, which will be built in two phases, is now 4.08 percent complete.

The Lao and Thai governments agreed to construct the bridge in May 2018.

Construction of the project began in August 2019 funded by a loan from Thailand’s Economic Cooperation Program and the Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) totaling THB 1,380,067,000 (USD 41.4 million).

The bridge, located in Kouay Oudom Village, Paksan District, Bolikhamxay Province, is 2.8 kilometers from the 13 South road.

Once completed, the bridge will serve as a significant transportation corridor connecting Thailand and many Vietnamese cities via Laos.

Vehicles traveling from Beung Kan Province to Nge An Province in Vietnam via Lao National Highway No. 8 through Bolikhamxay would only need to travel 150 kilometers. The highway then connects with roads leading to Hanoi, Danang, and other Vietnamese cities in Nge An.
