Opening Remarks

Mr. Jiang Wei, Deputy Director General of International Cooperation Department in Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, stressed that green jobs and sustainable entrepreneurship are critical levers for high-quality employment and economy-wide green transition. He outlined China’s three-pronged approach: (1) embedding “dual-carbon” goals in national strategy and green-growth frameworks; (2) reskilling and redeploying workers in traditional sectors such as coal through retraining grants, severance top-ups and green-industry funds; and (3) integrating 134 green occupations into the national occupational classification—more than 8 % of the total—while scaling up green-skills training nationwide.

Mr. KIM Minkyu, representative of 2025 APEC presidency of Korea,Labor Attaché Counsellor in Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China, highlighted sustainable entrepreneurship as essential for inclusive and resilient growth and the effort of Korea as 2025 presidency to deepen APEC collaboration on green-job creation amid geopolitical uncertainties.

Mr. Wang Jiwu, Chairman of TusHoldings Co., Ltd. reiterated the company’s commitment to leveraging Tsinghua Science Park as a global innovation hub and to sharing resources and experience with APEC members to accelerate technological upgrading worldwide.

Prof. GAO Jian, Director of National Entrepreneurship Research Center, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, noted that this was the first APEC meeting dedicated to capacity building of sustainable entrepreneurs. He emphasized youth as the primary entrepreneurial force and called for continued improvement of inclusive, resilient entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Keynote Speech

Prof. Donna Kelley, Frederic C. Hamilton Chair of Free Enterprise in Babson College, and head of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor team in USA, demonstrated through cross-economies indices that GDP level does not automatically translate into superior social and environmental performance. GEM data reveal that more than three quarters of entrepreneurs in China and Thailand already take SDG-oriented actions. This figure stands in a contrast with several high-income economies, which reflects the difference of regional incentives mechanism and culture background.

Mr. Chen Hongbo, Executive Senior Vice President of TusHoldings Co., Ltd., President of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), introduced Tus-Holdings'”Four Step Theory” for building sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystems, which is resource gathering, integration and cooperation, prioritizing target areas, and generating innovative outcome.

Mr. Mou Rui, on behalf of National Entrepreneurship Research Center, launched the report “The Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Capacity Building of Sustainable Entrepreneurship in APEC Economies”. Based on surveys and policy reviews across 16 APEC economies, four recommendations are proposed in the report as: (1) an APEC Sustainable Entrepreneurship Platform for policy learning and industry cooperation; (2) dedicated financing facilities; (3) an APEC Sustainable Entrepreneurship Academy for scaled-up, quality training; and (4) enhanced policy coordination, evaluation and data sharing.

Panel discussions

The Seminar includes four session with following topics:
1. Creating More Green Jobs – Policies and Scaling Strategies for Green Tech Startups
2. Skills Upgrading for Entrepreneurship and Employment in the Context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
3. Enhancing the Resilience of Startups through Digital and Green Transition
4. Challenges and Opportunities for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities in the Digital and Green Transition

Characterized by broad representation and a diverse range of participants, the seminar set up a multi-level, cross-sector platform for international cooperation and exchange. China’s innovative practices in green entrepreneurship and green employment, together with Chinese entrepreneurs’ proactive efforts to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, offered all APEC economies the valuable insights on how to turning sustainable development from vision into action.

Wynn Inaugurates Special Exhibition “The Odyssey of Jingdezhen Porcelain: A Heritage Voyage from Macao to the World”

MACAU, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — In July’s high summer season, the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025” has kicked off and the Special Exhibition “Hello China, Hello Macao – The Odyssey of Jingdezhen Porcelain: A Heritage Voyage from Macao to the World” presented by Wynn was unveiled at Wynn Palace on July 18. It is the first flagship project under “Wynn Culture” and has been included in the program of the “Culture City of East Asia 2025 – Macao, China.” It also marks the world’s first large-scale immersive art exhibition featuring porcelains from Jingdezhen.

Guests officiating at the opening ceremony included: Vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Ho Hau Wah; Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Mr. Wan Sucheng; Director of the Department of Information and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR, Mr. Gao Yuan; President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Ms. Leong Wai Man;  President of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Foundation, Mr. Wu Zhiliang; Deputy Consul for Education and Culture at the Consulate General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong, Dra. Patricia Quaresma; Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), Mr. António Lei; Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Mr. Cheng Wai Tong; General Manager of Jiangxi Media Group, Mr. Han Xingwen; President of Macau Chinese Cultural Friendship Association, Mr. Leong Wa; Head of the Department of Students of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Mr. Chan Iok Wai; President, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau, Limited, Ms. Linda Chen; and Deputy Director of Jingdezhen Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Publication and Tourism, Mr. Zhan Xinghua. In the presence of all the guests, the officiating dignitaries held porcelain pieces and aligned them together perfectly during the countdown, symbolizing that “porcelain pieces reunite, civilization revives!” and inaugurating exhibition ‘Hello China, Hello Macao – The Odyssey of Jingdezhen Porcelain: A Heritage Voyage from Macao to the World.”

Ms. Leong Wai Man stated in her speech that this exhibition is not only a cultural feast presented by Wynn Macau but also a pioneering initiative under the SAR Government’s “government-enterprise collaboration” model to promote Chinese culture innovatively. It responds to the nomination of Jingdezhen’s handmade porcelain heritage sites for the UNESCO World Heritage List and leaves a vibrant mark on Macao, “a base for exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist.” By recreating the blue-and-white and ink wash painting styles of ceramics with digital art and reinvigorating historical narratives with projection technology, the exhibition realizes the “creative transformation and innovative development of outstanding Chinese traditional culture.” Moreover, this collaboration has also built a bridge for cultural and tourism cooperation between Jiangxi and Macao, allowing porcelain, a carrier of Chinese civilization, to continue its mission as a cultural messenger in the new era.

Wynn Macau’s meticulous efforts demonstrate the company’s outstanding vision in fulfilling cultural responsibility. Every artwork featured in the exhibition reflects the curatorial team’s dedication, particularly their reverence for the roots of civilization. We hope to take today’s exhibition as a starting point to continue working together on the broad platform of “Art Macao,” collaboratively exploring pathways for Chinese culture to reach the world and co-creating an artistic stage where diverse cultures coexist harmoniously.

Ms. Linda Chen said that Wynn is joining hands with Jingdezhen of Jiangxi Province to present the world’s first large-scale immersive art exhibition featuring porcelain from Jingdezhen. Reinvigorating traditional aesthetics with modern technology, this exhibition offers residents and tourists a brand-new perspective featuring a 360-degree immersive experience of the beauty of imperial kiln treasures from the Qing Dynasty. Moreover, the exhibition unprecedentedly integrates the artworks of state-level masters, showcasing a feast of blossoming contemporary Chinese ceramic art to the world.

Wynn launched the new cultural brand “Wynn Culture” this year with the goal of “promoting outstanding Chinese traditional culture and fostering mutual exchange and appreciation between diverse civilizations” and to further deepen Macao’s strategic position as a “base for exchange and cooperation where Chinese culture is the mainstream and diverse cultures coexist.” Wynn Culture is not an isolated brand, but an important organic component of “Art Macao” as a grand narrative. Wynn Culture adheres to three core principles: upholding integrity and innovation, engaging in dialogue with the world, and passing on traditions, and taking its root in Macao, a link for Chinese and Western cultural exchange. The brand is dedicated to telling China’s stories well, constantly strengthening Macao’s unique role as a hub for domestic and foreign connections, and showcasing the cultural confidence of the Chinese nation to the world.

Mr. Han Xingwen stated that this exhibition is not only a cultural showcase but also an effectual initiative for Jiangxi and Macao to further the practice of “One Country, Two Systems” and promote cultural exchange and industrial cooperation. He reflected on the historical fact that in 1603, a Portuguese ship loaded with Clark porcelain set sail from Macao, which went on to become a cultural symbol for Europe’s understanding of China. He stated that the digital representation of the history reveals the eternal theme of mutual appreciation among civilizations, perfectly aligning with the collaborative philosophy of “complementary advantages and equal cooperation” between Jiangxi and Macao. It deeply integrates Jiangxi’s “advantages in cultural resources” with Macao’s role as an “international communication hub,” marking a new starting point and significant milestone for digital cultural cooperation between the two regions.

Renowned Chinese artist, designer and educator Master Chang Shana is invited to serve as the chief aesthetic advisor for the exhibition. Master Chang has been a leading designer for the Great Hall of the People, the former president of the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts, and a member of the Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and named among the Artists with Lifelong Achievements by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles. At the opening ceremony, Master Chang gifted her work Peace Dove to Wynn, making Wynn another organization which boasts her masterpiece as part of its permanent collection in addition to other major cultural institutions in China. She recorded a special video to wish this Special Exhibition of Wynn a great success.

The exhibition “Hello China, Hello Macao – The Odyssey of Jingdezhen Porcelain: A Heritage Voyage from Macao to the World” comprises a digital exhibition and an art exhibition. The digital exhibition recreates elements such as the history of ceramics, Maritime Silk Road in Macao, and imperial kiln masterpieces from Qing Dynasty with newly crafted, 360-degree immersive projections, comprehensively showcasing the history of how Jingdezhen has played a leading role in ceramic crafting techniques worldwide. The art exhibition features the first overseas debut of Peace Dove, an inaugural national gift designed by Master Chang Shana for the People’s Republic of China, as well as artworks by over 30 national and contemporary craft masters, including Lu Ru, Ning Gang, Liu Wei, Huang Jingzang, and Liu Wenbin. The exhibition also presents the four renowned porcelain varieties from Jingdezhen and their exquisite craftsmanship; Clark porcelain, which reflects traits of Sino-Portuguese cultural exchange; and the Buccleuch Vases from the exceptional art collection at Wynn, an epic masterpiece set that embodies the fusion of Eastern and Western art.

A welcome banquet was also held for the “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025” at the Grand Theater Ballroom at Wynn Palace on the same evening. The banquet for this cultural extravaganza pushed creativity to its peak, artfully constructing a platform to promote the culture of Jiangxi. Each dish carried profound connotations, echoing the artistic conception of one of the ceramic masters’ works featured in Wynn’s special exhibition. The integrated design of “one dish, one local specialty, one exquisite vessel” transformed every flavor into a vivid ambassador of Jiangxi Province. The tangible, perceivable, and palatable cultural experiences artfully transformed Jiangxi’s abundant resources and the millennial craftsmanship of its porcelain capital into distinct cultural symbols. As such, Wynn has built a bridge connecting Jiangxi’s treasures to the world, allowing guests from around the globe to appreciate Jiangxi’s unique natural and cultural riches through an immersive feast of taste and vision, successfully propelling the province’s cultural and industrial best onto a wider global stage.

In addition to the exhibition, a seminar titled “Silk Road Ceramic Journey • Macau’s New Chapter” will also be held on July 19 to intensify cooperation in cultural tourism between Jingdezhen, Macao and the international community. Together, Bird and Segway are redefining what’s possible in shared mobility—empowering cities and riders alike with smarter, safer, and more sustainable ways to move. This launch marks just the beginning of their continued collaboration to build the future of micromobility.

Precision Era to Redefine Treatment, Drive $450B Economic Investment and Change Lives Across Asia Pacific

SINGAPORE, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Precision Era of medicine is arriving in Asia Pacific, driven by the arrival of a critical mass of innovative therapies that will redefine treatment, attract investment and improve lives, a new expert-driven report finds.

Released today, ‘On the Cusp of a Cure’ White Paper examines Asia Pacific’s readiness for the Precision Era – the current, transformative period where generically prescribed and regularly administered treatments are increasingly giving way to potentially curative therapies tailored to individuals and their disease. Treatments called precision therapies

Across the four markets over the next 10 years, the new research by L.E.K. Consulting and an advisory committee of 16 Asia Pacific experts using a proprietary ‘whole system benefits modelling’ approach found that the Precision Era has the potential to:

  • Drive direct economic investment of approximately USD 450 billion.[i]
  • Create almost 1.2 million highly skilled jobs[i] in R&D, advanced manufacturing and biotechnology.
  • Drive USD1.615 trillion in broader[i], indirect economic benefit via a multiplier effect across adjacent industries.
  • Save healthcare systems across the four markets USD 39 billion[i], alleviating intense pressure on resources.
  • Increase workforce participation for 24 million patients and caregivers by improving their ability to return or stay in work.[i]

“The Precision Era is being driven by the arrival of a critical mass of some 4,000 innovative cell and gene therapies that will redefine treatment, attract investment and improve lives. Never before have we had such a clear view of the huge potential that this new era holds for Asia-Pacific. Healthcare systems stand to save billions, and patients could potentially live healthier for longer. The broader economic impact of this new era medicine is equivalent to South Korea’s annual GDP, and the potential for new jobs greater than the entire population of Adelaide,” said Stephanie Newey, Managing Partner, Head of L.E.K. Consulting Australia.

Precision therapies put us on the cusp of a cure

The ‘On the Cusp of a Cure’ research assessed data from more than 1,000 clinical trials across four novel technologies – gene therapies, targeted antibody therapies, drug-device combination therapies, and diagnostic technologies. These precision therapies are considered part of the Precision Era because they provide enhanced health benefits through a more tailored approach, represent a paradigm shift to how care has been provided previously and are the focus of significant research and investment.

Critically, some experts suggest we may be on the cusp of a cure for diseases that have previously been considered incurable and represent Asia-Pacific’s most pressing health challenges, such as many cancers and genetic disorders.

Asia disproportionately carries the largest cancer and rare disease burden in the world. It shoulders nearly half of all global cancer incidence[ii] and is home to 258 million people who are living with rare diseases[iii]. Worse still, these numbers are only expected to grow, fuelling calls for sustainable, scalable and effective solutions. Precision therapies are stepping forward to meet this critical need and represent a new standard of care for many of Asia-Pacific’s health challenges,” said Professor Baorong Yu, from the University of International Business and Economics in China.

One of the most groundbreaking examples of these treatments is chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy that modifies the body’s own T cells (a type of white blood cell) to target and destroy cancer cells[iv]. It is commonly used in the treatment of blood cancers, which has a 50% survival rate for over a third of patients. Currently, these patients are mostly treated through chemotherapy and radiotherapy, but many do not respond or will relapse.

“With increased access to innovative treatments such as CAR-T therapy, particularly earlier in treatment regimes, patients could live longer with a better quality of life,” said Naomi Sakurai, Advisory Committee member and Founder and CEO, Cancer Solutions. “Rather than going through multiple rounds of chemo, they would have a therapy tailored specifically to their condition. These precision treatments are now offering hope by potentially curing once-incurable diseases and giving people the priceless gift of more time with their loved ones.”

What’s holding back the adoption of precision therapies?

The Precision Era brings fundamental change to the way disease is approached and how patients are treated, and requires an equivalent rethink from regulators and policymakers.

While each market has its own, unique policy environment, ‘On the Cusp of a Cure’ series found that Australia, China, Japan, and South Korea all exhibit similar barriers to precision therapy adoption. Rules remain unclear for evaluating the reimbursement of new precision therapies, there is limited awareness among patients and doctors about these treatments, and better healthcare infrastructure is needed to support access.

The ‘On the Cusp of a Cure’ research presents a number of regional solutions to unlock the potential benefits of precision therapies:

Establish streamlined regulatory and reimbursement pathways specifically tailored for these treatments

Increase education for providers, patients, and the community to enhance understanding of the Precision Era

Enhance public-private collaboration to foster innovation and equitable access to precision therapies.

Improve access and affordability through pricing strategies, reimbursement frameworks, and insurance initiatives for treatments and diagnostics alike.

Through clinical guidelines and knowledge sharing, empower HCPs to make informed decisions about precision therapies, and assist patients in complex treatment paths.

By backing local industry investments in therapies and diagnostics, and nurturing expertise, joint efforts can drive sustainable progress towards transformative innovations.

“With this new era of precision therapies, we stand at the threshold of transforming healthcare across Asia-Pacific,” said Sakurai. “But for the full potential of these medicines to materialise, regulatory systems as well as knowledge and infrastructure must keep up. The goal of precision therapies is to ensure the right patient, right timing, right treatment and right dose. We all have a role to play, including policymakers, healthcare professionals, and healthcare industry leaders, to remove barriers for patients to these potentially life-changing therapies.”

“On the Cusp of a Cure White Paper Asia Pacific Series is made up of four local market white papers evaluating barriers to precision therapy adoption, providing recommendations for improvement, and assessing the value of widespread adoption in Australia, China, Japan, and Korea.

Notes to Editor: On the Cusp of a Cure White Paper Series and Advisory Committee Members

The On the Cusp of a Cure whitepaper series was supported by an advisory committee of 16 pre-eminent regional experts in precision medicine, economic and health policy, and patient experience across Australia, China, Japan and Korea. It was also sponsored by Johnson & Johnson.
