U.S. Exhibitors at 2025 CISCE Grow by 15%, Highlighting Strengthened Supply Chain Cooperation

BEIJING, July 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) was held from July 16 through 20 in Beijing, providing a premier platform for global communication and cooperation in supply chain development, and witnessed a 15% increase on the number of U.S. exhibitors compared to last year, reaffirming the position as the largest group of international participants.

Michael Hart, President of AmCham China, praised CISCE for fostering collaboration and innovation across borders. “The Supply Chain Expo has provided a fantastic platform for communication and cooperation,” Hart said. “I’m pleased to share that U.S. exhibitors have grown significantly this year, with 60% of them being Fortune Global 500 companies. Additionally, we are excited to welcome NVIDIA, a leader in American technology, making its debut at CISCE.”

Yu Jianlong, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), highlighted the importance of the event in advancing bilateral economic ties. “The foundation of China-U.S. relations lies in people-to-people ties,” Yu said. “At this critical juncture, Chinese and American businesses are taking concrete actions to strengthen supply chain cooperation, ensuring stable and unimpeded global supply chains.”

This year also marks AmCham China’s first participation at CISCE with its own exhibition booth, working alongside member companies to showcase innovative solutions and foster partnerships. Hart emphasized AmCham China’s 2025 Navigator Program, launched during last year’s expo, which focuses on cultivating supply chain leadership and collaboration with Chinese hubs.

Shandong’s Role in Supply Chain Resilience
Hart also highlighted Shandong Province as a key player in global supply chain resilience. Since the first U.S. investment in Shandong in 1986, nearly 1,000 American companies have invested in the province, establishing it as a major partner in bilateral trade.

Shandong is one of China’s most dynamic provinces, excelling in manufacturing, agriculture, port logistics, and new energy,” Hart said. Its strong industrial ecosystem, efficient infrastructure, and skilled workforce have attracted many AmCham China member companies to establish production bases and regional hubs.

CISCE continues to serve as a vital platform for global supply chain cooperation, providing opportunities for enterprises to explore new collaborations and drive economic growth. The expo showcases breakthroughs in supply chain innovation and fostering stronger partnerships across borders.

How grassroots governance fuels development of one of China’s top 100 districts

BEIJING, July 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A group of experts and scholars in fields of economic development and social governance recently gathered in Beijing to explore how Yuhang District in Hangzhou City of east China’s Zhejiang Province advanced common prosperity through grassroots democratic consultation piloted in Xiaogucheng Village over 20 years, and try to draw inspiration from its success.

Over the past two decades, Xiaogucheng Village has evolved from “village affairs decided by collective discussion” to a model of “public matters resolved by public deliberation”, refining its approach through continuous practice.

The Xiaogucheng Village Party Committee has consistently championed democratic consultation, tackling issues from livability improvements to village development. This increasingly clearer development path has spurred social harmony and stability, rapid economic development, rising living standards, and enhanced urban and rural environment. In 2024, the village’s collective income reached 12.18 million yuan, with per capita disposable income hitting 58,414 yuan, representing a 38-fold and 9.16-fold increase, respectively, compared to 2005.

“The principle of ‘public matters resolved by public deliberation’ is deeply rooted and flourishing in Yuhang,” noted a district official. For 20 years, Yuhang District has honed its “village matters decided by collective discussion” approach, fostering a new pattern of grassroots governance featuring co-creation, joint management, and shared benefits. This foundation has become a driving force for high-quality regional economic development.

In 2024, Yuhang District’s GDP grew six percent year on year to 335.567 billion yuan, retaining its position as Zhejiang’s largest economy by output and leading Hangzhou in growth rate. Rural per capita disposable income rose 6.2 percent year on year to exceed 58,000 yuan, marking the district’s eighth consecutive year at the top of Hangzhou’s comprehensive evaluations.

From Xiaogucheng Village’s local success to Yuhang’s district-wide achievements, the “public matters resolved by public deliberation” model has demonstrated the dynamic power of grassroots democratic practices with Chinese characteristics in fueling high-quality social and economic development.

Informal caregivers in Singapore seen as undertrained and overwhelmed

  • Despite nearly all professional caregivers agreeing that informal caregivers can help bridge the demand of caregiving in Singapore to a certain extent (30% large, 45% moderate, 23% small extent), only a quarter of professionals (25%) say that informal caregivers today are “somewhat capable” of providing necessary care, with none believing they are “very capable”.

  • Around four in five (79%) professional caregivers say that informal caregivers are either “minimally trained” or not “trained at all” in caregiving; with all professionals agreeing (47% strongly agree, 53% agree) that informal caregivers should receive formal training, especially in skills such as basic emergency response (92%), proper lifting and transfer techniques (90%), recognising condition-specific warning signs and symptoms (88%).

  • Nearly half of professional caregivers (47%) perceive that informal caregivers feel undervalued by society, employers, or even their own families, with a lack of respite care (92%), sleep deprivation (90%), and financial strain (85%) among the top personal challenges faced by informal caregivers.

Singapore, July 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Amidst the growing pressures of a super-aged society, Singapore’s healthcare sector is experiencing a surge in caregiving demand. While all professional caregivers agree that informal caregivers, such as family members, foreign domestic workers, and volunteers, can help alleviate the demand of caregiving to a certain extent (30% large, 45% moderate, 23% small extent), there are concerns about their capability to provide effective care. Notably, a quarter of respondents (25%) consider informal caregivers only “somewhat capable”, with none believing that they are “very capable”.

This is further compounded by the widespread belief among professional caregivers that informal caregivers are undertrained (77% minimally trained, 2% not trained at all). Consequently, all of them agree (47% strongly agree, 53% agree) that informal caregivers should receive formal training. Essential skills identified by the professionals include basic emergency response (92%), proper lifting and transfer techniques (90%), recognising condition-specific warning signs and symptoms (88%), while important soft skills include decision-making (92%), adaptability (84%), and communication (83%).

These are some of the key findings from NTUC LearningHub’s Industry Insights Report 2025 on Caregiving, which investigates how professional caregivers, such as those working in the healthcare and social service sectors, perceive informal caregivers who provide support to individuals in need of care at home. Based on a survey of 200 professional caregivers, the report also explores the potential gaps in the caregiving landscape and the implications of evolving healthcare needs on informal caregivers.

Additionally, the majority of professional caregivers (77%) also reveal that informal caregivers have little to no awareness of available resources and support services. The most common obstacles to providing effective care include a lack of medical and nursing knowledge (90%), time management (85%), and lack of access to proper equipment or assistive devices (81%).

All professional caregivers agree (59% strongly agree, 41% agree) that there is an increasing demand for trained caregivers in Singapore, primarily driven by the ageing population and rising prevalence of chronic illnesses.

In response to this growing need, all professional caregivers agree (30% large extent, 49% moderate extent, 22% small extent) that the adoption of assistive technologies has also helped to reduce the burden on informal caregivers, with the most helpful tools identified being mobility aids (97%), emergency response devices (92%) and smart home monitoring systems (82%). However, key barriers to adoption include a lack of training or guidance in effectively using assistive technology (91%), high cost of assistive technologies (91%), and technical complexity of using/setting up assistive tools (89%).

At the same time, nearly half of professional caregivers (47%) believe that informal caregivers feel undervalued by society, employers, or even their families as they face personal challenges such as a lack of respite care (92%), sleep deprivation (90%) and financial strain (85%).

Commenting on the report’s findings, Mr Tay Ee Learn, Assistant Chief Executive Officer and Chief Sector Skills Officer, NTUC LearningHub, says, “Demand for caregiving support is rising as Singapore’s ageing population and the growing prevalence of chronic illnesses lead to longer-term and more complex care needs. Beyond professional caregivers, informal caregivers are quietly but surely cementing their role as key contributors in the care economy, providing invaluable day-to-day care. It is therefore important that they are given access to formal training and relevant resources as they often take on complex caregiving responsibilities without prior experience or professional guidance. With proper training and support, informal caregivers can be empowered to deliver safer, more effective and quality care for their loved ones without compromising their personal well-being. Ultimately, formal training also leads to certifications, providing opportunities for informal caregivers to become professionals in the healthcare sector.”

Jinchang Power Grid’s “Zero-Power-Outage” Operation Reshapes Power Pulse

JINCHANG, China, July 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — When the characters “No fluctuation in telemetry data, zero abnormal alarm signals” appeared on the background monitoring screen of the Longkou Substation control room, the tense atmosphere at the scene finally relaxed. Recently, Jinchang Power Grid completed an unprecedented “live-line operation” on a 10 kV line, achieving the first “zero-power-outage” replacement of protection devices. This silent technological revolution has set a new benchmark for intelligent distribution network transformation.

Traditional protection device replacement is like a heart surgery, requiring a two-day power outage, which would halt production in enterprises and daily life of residents along the line. The breakthrough of Jinchang Power Grid this time lies in two core innovations: “full-process imperceptibility” and “full-protection parallel operation”. Zhao Jixian, the person in charge of the relevant work, defined it precisely: “This is a key leap from ‘power-outage transformation’ to ‘live-line operation’.”

To achieve this leap, the Secondary Maintenance Team (Substation Secondary Team) of the Substation Operation and Inspection Center of State Grid Jinchang Power Supply Company traveled to Qitai in Xinjiang and Ordos in Inner Mongolia to “learn from experience”. They drew on local experience in non-power-outage protection transformation and combined it with local actual working conditions to develop the “sand table rehearsal + platform transfer” plan. They rehearsed key actions such as device configuration and channel switching during short power outage maintenance intervals, and conducted three rounds of sand table drills for risks of protection refusal and misoperation—each simulation added a layer of security for actual operations.

The team surveyed and formulated the plan, locking details such as “devices placed 0.5 meters away from old cabinets” and “cables avoiding fire-fighting passages”. Facing the challenge of parallel compatibility between old and new devices, the team modified communication protocols and isolated control circuits to enable “seamless dialogue” between the two generations of equipment.

Before the transformation, a “1:1” operation simulation and 12 special briefings on risk points covered every link, and “measure one core and cover one core when removing wires” became an iron rule. Zhang Wenfei, deputy monitor of the Substation Operation Team (Substation Secondary Team) of Jinchang Power Supply Company, rechecked the wiring of the temporary protection platform one by one, and the “zero error” of 16 secondary circuits provided a “double insurance” for the operation.

Through this project, Jinchang Power Supply Company has also mastered cutting-edge skills such as “hot swapping” of protection devices and imperceptible channel switching, forming mature and promotable experience. As a key step towards a “high-reliability distribution network”, the Longkou Substation transformation technology will be promoted to old lines across the city, and is expected to reduce power outages by more than 500 hours annually.

Cainiao Hong Kong Smart Freight Center Earns TAPA’s Highest Security Certification

HONG KONG, July 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Cainiao’s Hong Kong Smart Freight Center has officially passed the Transported Asset Protection Association’s (TAPA) Facility Security Requirements (FSR) audit with an A-level rating—the association’s highest tier—making it one of the few smart freight center in the Asia–Pacific region to obtain this accolade. Located inside Cainiao’s Hong Kong eHub, it is also the first freight center in Hong Kong to achieve full RFID coverage across all operations.

TAPA is the world’s leading authority on warehouse and freight security, and its FSR program is considered one of the most stringent certifications in global logistics. The standard helps companies identify and manage security risks, particularly for high-value goods such as electronics, luxury items, and pharmaceuticals. FSR certification is divided into three levels—A, B, and C—of which A is the highest, covering more than 250 checkpoints spanning physical security, information security, and process controls.

Achieving FSR Level A demonstrates that the Hong Kong Smart Freight Center’s warehousing and transport security now meets top international benchmarks. Cainiao has put in place “bank-grade” protection through enhanced physical safeguards, data encryption and firewalls, and a multi-tier risk-assessment system.

This June, the hub completed end-to-end RFID deployment, boosting cargo-handling efficiency by 30% compared with traditional facilities. Alongside RFID, the center features AGVs, an automated air-cargo handling system (MHS), self-service check-in kiosks, and a “Ground Handling” WeChat mini-program—ensuring every cross-border parcel is trackable, visible, and traceable.

Situated in the South Cargo Precinct of Hong Kong International Airport, the Hong Kong eHub is only a five-minute drive from the runway. Its four-hour flight radius covers the Asia–Pacific’s core markets, enabling 72-hour delivery for time-sensitive goods. Real-time synchronization with Cainiao’s Liege eHub in Europe allows the full process—from arrival in Liege to release from an overseas warehouse—to be completed in as little as six hours, creating seamless global connectivity.

Cainiao’s cross-border parcel network now reaches more than 200 countries and regions, with 18 overseas sorting centers either built or underway, over three million square meters of cross-border warehouse space, and an annual handling capacity of more than 1.5 billion parcels—supporting upwards of 100,000 merchants and brands worldwide.
