SHANGHAI, June 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Everest Medicines (HKEX 1952.HK, “Everest”, or the “Company”), a biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, clinical development, manufacturing and commercialization of innovative therapeutics, today announced that it has entered into a commercialization license agreement with Beijing Mabworks Biotech Co., Ltd. (“Mabworks”), under which the Company has obtained exclusive rights for the clinical development and commercialization of Bejescin® (MIL62, Obinutuzumab beta Injection) across the Asia-Pacific region, including Southeast Asia, India, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan region, China.

This collaboration will strengthen Everest Medicines’ presence in nephrology and autoimmune diseases across the Asia-Pacific region, creating synergies with its nephrology portfolio. Leveraging its established and proven clinical development and commercialization capabilities, the company aims to advance the development of Bejescin® and support its launch in the Asia-Pacific region, while furthering its long-term strategy in the global innovative medicines market.

Under the terms of the agreement, Everest Medicines will pay Mabworks an upfront payment of RMB 23 million and sales milestone payments of up to RMB 186 million. Mabworks will also be eligible to receive a share of gross profit in the region.

Bejescin® (MIL62, Obinutuzumab beta Injection) is a novel third-generation anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody. It was approved in China in February 2026 for the treatment of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), becoming the first CD20 antibody approved for this indication globally and the first domestically developed therapy in China. The New Drug Application (NDA) for primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) is currently under Priority Review by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), with the potential to become the first approved targeted therapy for PMN worldwide. Bejescin® is also in Phase III trials for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and follicular lymphoma (FL), with potential for further expansion into other autoimmune indications.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Mabworks on Bejescin®. As the first CD20 antibody approved globally for NMOSD, Bejescin® has demonstrated strong clinical potential and significant opportunities in nephrology and autoimmune diseases,” said Mr. Yifang Wu, Chairman of the Board of Everest Medicines. “This collaboration strengthens Everest’s portfolio in these therapeutic areas and complements our existing pipeline. With our expertise in clinical development and commercialization, we are confident in advancing Bejescin® across the Asia-Pacific region, bringing this innovative therapy to more patients and improving access. At the same time, we are committed to further strengthening Everest Medicines’ presence in the Asia-Pacific and global innovative medicines market.”

“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Everest Medicines on Bejescin® across the Asia-Pacific region. As the first approved CD20-targeted therapy for NMOSD worldwide and the potential global first targeted therapy for PMN, Bejescin® possesses exceptional product competitiveness and market potential.” said Mr. Luning Chen, President of Mabworks. “Since its launch in Mainland China, Bejescin® has achieved outstanding commercial performance. This collaboration will further strengthen Bejescin®‘s commercial network and brand influence across the Asia-Pacific region, bringing ‘New Hope’ to more patients with renal and autoimmune diseases.”

Bejescin® has shown meaningful clinical and therapeutic benefits across nephrology and multiple autoimmune disease areas, with potential for further indication expansion. Its development in NMOSD, PMN, and SLE is expected to provide more innovative treatment options for patients.

NMOSD is a debilitating autoimmune disorder targeting the central nervous system characterized by high recurrence and disability rates, predominantly affecting young and middle-aged women. The disease typically presents acute or subacute onset and can progress rapidly, with approximately 90% of patients relapsing within three years. Severe cases may result in blindness or paralysis. Bejescin® has demonstrated a significant reduction in relapse risk as a monotherapy, with strong efficacy data underscoring both its clinical value and the convenience.

PMN is one of the most common pathological types of adult nephropathy, with approximately 30%-40% of patients progressing to end-stage renal disease (ESRD) within 5 to 15 years. Globally, there are no approved targeted therapies for PMN. Phase III clinical data demonstrated that Bejescin® monotherapy provides significant advantages across multiple efficacy endpoints including complete clinical remission, complete immunological remission and overall clinical remission. Furthermore, Bejescin® showed a favorable safety and tolerability profile, together with a convenient dosing regimen. Following initial treatment, patients require only one intravenous infusion every six months, reducing treatment burden and supporting long-term treatment adherence.

SLE is a chronic, systemic autoimmune disease that primarily affects young women. For this indication, Bejescin® is in Phase III clinical trial and offers the potential for administration every 24 to 28 weeks, addressing the need for long-acting therapies and providing an improved treatment option for patients with SLE.

About Bejescin® (MIL62)

Bejescin® (MIL62, Obinutuzumab beta Injection) is a novel 3rd-generation anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody with a unique competitive position in the market, and has been approved by NMPA for marketing in China for the treatment of Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders (NMOSD), becoming the world’s first CD20-targeted antibody therapy approved for NMOSD and the first approved domestically-developed therapy for this indication in China.

In October 2025, Bejescin® was granted Breakthrough Therapy Designation (BTD) by NMPA, becoming the first domestically developed therapy for the kidney disease to receive this designation in China. Bejescin®‘s New Drug Application (NDA) for this indication is currently under the NMPA’s Priority Review, positioning it to potentially become the first approved targeted therapy for PMN worldwide.

ARMONK, N.Y. and SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 4, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — IBM (NYSE: IBM) and Google Cloud today announced the launch of a new Google Cloud Practice, designed to help organizations more quickly scale AI into production and modernize core systems. The new practice combines IBM’s deep industry expertise and IBM Consulting Advantage – the company’s AI-powered platform that helps IBM teams design, build and deploy AI solutions faster using agents and industry workflows – now with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, cybersecurity and data capabilities.

With thousands of Google Cloud-certified IBM consultants and forward-deployed engineers, the practice will help enterprises deploy AI solutions, modernize legacy environments, and manage technology across complex hybrid landscapes. This represents a multi-billion-dollar opportunity for IBM and Google Cloud, with each bringing unique strengths that matter to clients.

IBM is creating a portfolio of industry‑specific AI agents built on IBM Consulting Advantage and optimized for Gemini Enterprise. These agents support use cases for banking, government, retail, telecommunications, energy, security, insurance, and life sciences, helping organizations automate workflows, improve decision-making, and accelerate autonomous operations powered by Gemini models.

With the new partnership, IBM consultants can now design, build, and govern enterprise‑grade AI agents directly on Google Cloud. Pre‑built assets, reusable agents, and proven transformation methods from IBM can be combined with Google Cloud’s agent runtime, governance controls, and enterprise safety features, helping organizations move from design to deployment with enhanced speed and consistency.

IBM and Google Cloud have already partnered on major migration and modernization efforts, including work with Airbus, where IBM consultants and Google Cloud helped transition two aerospace businesses into fully independent operations in under 18 months by updating more than 100 critical systems across engineering, manufacturing, customer service, and other regulated functions.

“Enterprises are facing one of the most complex modernization cycles in decades,” said Mohamad Ali, Senior Vice President and Head of IBM Consulting. “By expanding our work with Google Cloud, we’re giving clients a clearer and more reliable path to scale AI across their business, combining deep industry expertise, hybrid‑cloud modernization, and an AI‑first delivery platform.”

“This partnership significantly expands the pool of expert Google Cloud consultants in the market to meet surging demand for AI,” said Kevin Ichhpurani, President, Global Partner Ecosystem at Google Cloud. “By combining Google’s agentic infrastructure with IBM’s deep industry expertise and proven delivery frameworks, we are ensuring joint customers can move beyond pilots to deploy and govern production-grade AI agents across their entire cloud environment.”

IBM Consulting will help develop common interface patterns and solutions that connect enterprise data into Gemini using an open and flexible approach by integrating technology from IBM and its ecosystem. These interfaces can be tailored for each client’s architecture, helping organizations unify their data while more easily scaling Gemini‑based AI capabilities.

The practice focuses on several priority areas:

  • Production-ready AI and data: Helping clients build foundations that support real, skilled AI systems, rather than pilots, by combining IBM’s industry knowledge and AI assets with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and BigQuery.
  • Industryspecific solutions: Delivering AI and data capabilities for sectors such as aerospace, financial services, government, healthcare, and telecommunications. This includes Confluent to stream and govern real‑time data so AI systems can optimize operations, anticipate risk, and deliver outcomes tailored to each industry’s regulatory demands.
  • Modernizing cybersecurity operations: Providing AI‑driven defense and security capabilities intended to strengthen readiness and accelerate response.
  • Hybrid cloud modernization: Updating critical workloads across on‑premises and cloud environments, including for highly regulated industries. Red Hat OpenShift is now available directly in the Google Cloud Console.
  • Enhanced AIpowered workflows: Integrating Gemini with watsonx Orchestrate to improve decision automation and agent intelligence, and into watsonx.data to give clients more flexible ways to generate insights to support smarter applications.
  • Operational resilience and governance: Using IBM automation, supported by HashiCorp and Apptio, with Google Cloud AI to support improved monitoring, compliance, and performance.

Statements regarding IBM’s and Google Cloud’s future direction and intent are subject to change or withdrawal without notice, and represent goals and objectives only.

Vientiane Moves Forward on Compensation for Thongmang Sinkhole Victims

Vientiane authorities are moving forward with plans to compensate residents affected by sinkholes and ground subsidence linked to potash mining in Thongmang village, Xaythany district

According to the authorities, a 3-June discussion focused on establishing compensation rates for affected land, agricultural assets, crops, and structures damaged by ground collapse from mining activities.

Officials have not yet announced final compensation figures, but the discussions on a formal compensation framework is still ongoing.

Government Previous Responses

Thongmang village has seen five sinkhole collapses between May 2025 and January 2026, drawing nationwide attention. The most severe event occurred on 2 January, when a large sinkhole opened, leaving four villagers missing.

In response, authorities evacuated 38 households from high-risk areas as a precaution against further ground subsidence. Local officials continue to monitor the situation closely, aiming to ensure residents’ safety while assessing the stability of the surrounding terrain.

Following the incident, on 9 January, Vice Minister of Industry and Commerce Chansaweng Bounyong visited the affected area to meet residents, assess damage, and coordinate response efforts.

In July 2025, the authorities also responded to growing safety concerns by ordering mining operations to be halted, while ground stabilization measures have since been implemented under government supervision to help reduce the risk of further subsidence.

In the latest meeting, authorities said monitoring and risk assessment efforts remain ongoing as they seek long-term solutions for residents living in affected zones.

Several Areas in Vientiane to Face Power Outages from 5 to 9 June

This photo is used for representational purpose only.

Electricité du Laos (EDL) announced that several areas in Vientiane are set to face power outages lasting several hours during daytime from 5 to 9 June.

According to a notice issued on 3 June, the outages are necessary to carry out maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, equipment installation, and electricity pole relocation, affecting areas across three districts,  Xaysettha, Sikhottabong, and Chanthabouly.

Residents in Soknoy village of Xaysettha district, mostly along the 450-Year Road, will be the hardest hit, facing eight hours of outage daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for three straight days from 5 to 7 June, and again on 9 June during the same hours.

On 5 June and again on 9 June, Nahai village and parts of Chomsi village, also in Xaysettha district, will lose power for five hours from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. On 8 June, Doung village in the same district will face eight hours of outage from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

In Sikhottabong district on 7 June, many villages including Nahae, Nonsawang, Viengsavanh, Sisomsuen, Donsingsou, Dankham, and Kaoliew will face a nine-hour outage from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, while Nongbuathong, Hongkha, and Phonsavard Tai villages in the same district will face a shorter two-hour cut from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.

Meanwhile, on 7 June, residents near Patuxay Monument in Sisawat village, Chanthabouly district, will face four hours of outage from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Laos, China Set Four Strategies to Hit USD 20 Billion Trade Target by 2030

This photo is used for representational purpose only.

Laos and China have agreed on four strategic pillars to boost bilateral trade and investment, with projections suggesting the figure could reach up to USD 20 billion by 2030.

The agreement came after Malaythong Kommasith, Minister of Industry and Commerce, led a delegation to Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, on 21 May for a bilateral meeting with Wang Wentao, Chinese Minister of Commerce, the first official meeting between the two ministers to discuss directions for strengthening economic and trade cooperation.

Among the agreements, both sides committed to expediting the review and upgrade of the 1998 Laos-China Trade Agreement, targeting market access, e-commerce, trade facilitation, and payment settlement mechanisms.

On energy, both sides agreed to increase fuel supplies from China to Laos following a fuel crisis in March triggered by the Middle East crisis, which disrupted global supply chains. They also agreed to promote new energy sources and electric vehicles, a sector where China holds global expertise.

On agriculture, they agreed to develop the NPK compound fertilizer industry,  a plant nutrient blend of Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium,  by leveraging Laos’ potash reserves and importing phosphorus and nitrogen compounds from China to establish local production facilities, aiming to secure agricultural productivity and food security.

On mining, both sides agreed to focus on mineral extraction and processing to create value-added products, generate employment, and train Lao technical personnel.

Beyond the four pillars, both sides agreed to explore future cooperation in production and supply chains, green minerals, and international obligations.

Bilateral trade has already doubled, rising from USD 4.34 billion in 2021 to USD 8.80 billion in 2025.

Laos exports mixed gold, potash, paper, iron ore, rubber, cassava flour, and fruits to China, while importing machinery, chemical products, vehicles, steel, electrical appliances, and fertilizers.

The meeting comes as the Lao President is currently in China for an official state visit at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, traveling to Zhejiang Province from 2 to 6 June for high-level talks aimed at deepening bilateral ties between the two nations.
