LSBF Secures UTAP Funding for SCAQ Programmes, Renews Three-Year Partnership with ISCA Academy to Strengthen Singapore’s Accountancy Talent Pipeline
SINGAPORE, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The London School of Business and Finance (LSBF) Singapore Campus has announced that its Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification (SCAQ) preparatory programmes are now approved under the Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP), making professional accounting education more accessible and affordable for eligible union members.
The milestone comes alongside the renewal of LSBF’s partnership with ISCA Academy, the professional learning arm of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), for another three years, reaffirming both organisations’ shared commitment towards developing a strong pipeline of accounting and finance professionals in Singapore.
With UTAP funding, eligible NTUC members can now enjoy additional financial support when enrolling in LSBF’s SCAQ preparatory programmes, lowering the barriers to professional qualification while encouraging continuous upskilling in line with Singapore’s national workforce development agenda.
The dual milestone reinforces LSBF’s growing role as a trusted education partner for aspiring Chartered Accountants and finance professionals seeking industry-recognised qualifications.
Expanding Opportunities for Future Chartered Accountants
As demand for highly skilled finance professionals continues to grow amid evolving regulatory requirements and digital transformation, the SCAQ remains one of the country’s most respected professional credentials.
“This partnership renewal reflects a long-term commitment to developing the capabilities Singapore’s economy will need from its future accounting and finance professionals. By combining the strength of the SCAQ pathway with high-quality and industry-relevant preparation, we can help more candidates progress with confidence and support employers in building stronger finance teams. This will help sustain a resilient and future-ready profession“, said Ms Zoey Xie, Chief Operating Officer, ISCA Academy.
Through its renewed collaboration, LSBF and ISCA Academy will continue to deliver SCAQ preparatory programmes designed to equip candidates with the technical knowledge, practical competencies, and examination readiness required to achieve the Chartered Accountant of Singapore designation.
The renewed partnership also paves the way for deeper collaboration in programme delivery, student engagement initiatives, and efforts to strengthen Singapore’s accountancy talent pipeline.
“The approval of UTAP funding, together with our partnership with ISCA Academy, represents a significant milestone for LSBF and, more importantly, for aspiring accounting professionals.”
“Professional education should be accessible, relevant, and closely aligned with industry needs. These developments enable more working professionals to pursue the SCAQ while receiving quality preparation and meaningful financial support“, said Miko Chng, Director, Sales & Marketing at LSBF Singapore Campus.
Supporting Singapore’s SkillsFuture and Workforce Transformation
The introduction of UTAP funding complements Singapore’s broader national focus on lifelong learning and professional upskilling.
By reducing the cost of professional education and strengthening collaboration with industry bodies, LSBF continues to support finance professionals in remaining competitive within an increasingly complex and technology-driven business landscape. Since becoming an approved SCAQ preparatory course provider, LSBF has supported numerous aspiring Chartered Accountants through comprehensive examination preparation and personalised academic support.
The institution has continued to invest in practitioner-led teaching, exam-focused preparation, flexible learning options, and employer engagement, ensuring students receive an education that combines academic excellence with real-world application.
BERLIN, GERMANY – Media OutReach Newswire – 17 September 2026 – At IFA 2026, Midea’s Fabric and Floor Care division presented its latest innovations in laundry and floor-cleaning technologies themed at “Zoned Care, Omni Clean”.
With the Omni Trio washing machine and AT8 Ultra wet-and-dry floor cleaner as key highlights, the showcase addressed a wide range of everyday home-care challenges, including separate laundry care, noise and vibration reduction, stubborn stain removal and the cleaning of tangled hair from floors.
During the exhibition, the products drew attention from German technology and smart-home media and also received recognition from industry bodies. The showcase innovations were honoured with the YD Best Design Award, while the Omni Trio received VDE A-10% low-noise certification, highlighting Midea’s continued strengths in both industrial design and product engineering.
Two Products, One Home-Care Direction
The Omni Trio brings a different approach to laundry separation. Its three independently operated drums—a 10 kg main drum and two 0.5 kg smaller drums—allow different loads to be washed separately at the same time. Everyday clothing, baby garments, socks and underwear can be handled without waiting for one cycle to finish before starting another.
Independent water inlets and Auto Dose systems, Foam & Flow DualSpray technology and low-noise performance support the same objective: making categorized laundry care easier to integrate into daily routines.
For floor care, the AT8 Ultra addresses another set of frequent cleaning tasks. Its technologies include Easy Foam cleaning, 60°C hot water on demand, a mechanical arm for improved water pickup, anti-tangle technology, and automated roller cleaning and drying. Each targets a practical issue, whether it is a stubborn stain, residual water or hair wrapped around the roller.
Together, Omni Trio and AT8 Ultra demonstrate how “Zoned Care, Omni Clean” extends beyond individual product features. Different cleaning tasks call for different solutions, and Midea FFC is applying its experience across laundry care and floor cleaning to address these needs with greater precision.
From European Needs to Global Development
IFA 2026 also provided Midea with an opportunity to observe how these innovations respond to expectations in the European market, where quieter operation, efficiency, flexibility and ease of use remain key considerations for home appliances.
These local insights also contribute into Midea FFC’s global product development. Learnings from different markets help shape technologies that can be adapted to diverse homes, daily routines and cleaning habits.
For the home-care category, the next stage of innovation is not simply adding more functions. It is about enabling appliances to better understand and handling specific household tasks, with greater automation and less effort from the user. For Midea FFC, the response at IFA 2026 offers a valuable reference point as the company continues to develop home-care technologies for markets around the world.

Supporting Enterprises to Go Global, Strengthening Talent Nurturing, Promoting Design Mega Events, and Reinforcing Hong Kong’s Positioning as an East-meets-West Centre for International Cultural Exchange
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 17 September 2026 – Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) welcomes the initiatives outlined in The First Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (2026–2030) (The First Five-Year Plan) and the Chief Executive’s 2026 Policy Address, in particular to strengthen support for local design enterprises to go global, nurture design talent, promote design mega events in Hong Kong, and further reinforce Hong Kong’s pivotal role as an ‘East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange’.
Mr Steve Leung, Chairman of Hong Kong Design Centre, stated, ‘The current-term Government has achieved encouraging results in promoting the development of the design industry. One notable example is the Hong Kong Fashion Fest, an annual mega event launched in response to the Chief Executive’s 2023 Policy Address, which has gained increasing recognition from both the industry and the public, positioning Hong Kong as Asia’s leading fashion design hub. The First Five-Year Plan further enumerates a blueprint and vision for the city’s overall development. The 2026 Policy Address also aligns with and supports the objectives of The First Five-Year Plan by outlining concrete measures to drive development.’
Mr Steve Leung continued, ‘In response to the recommendations set out in the 2024 Policy Address, Hong Kong Design Centre has completed the restructuring of its organisation and functions, and has been progressively implementing a new development roadmap and direction. The Centre will fully align with The First Five-Year Plan and the Government’s initiatives, while actively integrating into and serving the overall national development. Through our various flagship programmes, we will continue to focus on helping design enterprises enhance their products and brand design capabilities and services, strengthening collaboration and interface between start-ups and Chinese Mainland enterprises, and driving Hong Kong’s design industry to go global for more business opportunities.’
To align with the Government’s efforts in implementing the ‘Bringing in and Going Global’ strategy, and to leverage its role as a platform for overseas expansion, HKDC launched its Outreach Programme last year, leading Hong Kong’s emerging designers to participate for the first time in Shanghai Fashion Week and the ‘Think Business, Think Hong Kong’ programme in Milan. This year, the programme will continue across Chinese Mainland and overseas cities, assisting Hong Kong’s design and creative talents to explore new markets, while leveraging Hong Kong’s role as a ‘super connector’ and ‘super value-adder’ in driving global design industry exchange.
Regarding nurturing of talents, HKDC continues to refine its incubation function. A new design incubation programme will be launched this year, assisting potential design enterprises in achieving high-quality development. The programme aims to incubate design start-ups established for one to three years, and provides in-depth support to enterprises established for three to 15 years. Together, these help design businesses across different disciplines and stages of development build a solid business foundation, drive brand upgrading and market expansion, thereby achieving sustainable growth and generating fresh momentum for Hong Kong’s creative economy.
In recent years, the Government has been vigorously promoting the hosting of world-class design mega events in Hong Kong. HKDC is honoured to expand its annual flagship event, Business of Design Week (BODW) in 2026/27, and re-brand BODW in the City as DESIGN@HKG. From November onwards, HKDC will collaborate with venue partners, international and local brands, and designers, to present a wider range of design programmes across different districts in Hong Kong. Through interactive experiences, the initiative will infuse local design culture and creative elements into every corner of the city, encouraging participation from corporate brands, tourists, and the general public. At the same time, leveraging BODW Summit to gather global creative leaders and entrepreneurs to Hong Kong for exchange, while connecting design-themed activities across the city, creates synergy and fosters greater creative atmosphere. The DX design hub in Sham Shui Po will continue to curate a diverse range of thematic design exhibitions, fashion retail and immersive design experiences, energising community creativity, fostering cross-sectoral exchange and commercial collaboration, and promoting the local economy and cultural tourism.
In support of the Government’s drive to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s leading hub for fashion design and retail through the continued staging of the annual mega event, Hong Kong Fashion Fest, HKDC is delighted to have partnered for the first time with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), the organiser of Milan Fashion Week. Together, HKDC and CNMI co-curated the ‘Future Threads: Menswear’s New Waves Between Italy and Hong Kong’ Exhibition, one of the flagship programmes of this year’s Hong Kong Fashion Fest. Meanwhile, HKDC’s fashion initiative, Fashion Asia Hong Kong, presented its two highlight events ‘Fashion Challenges Forum’ and ’10 Asian Designers to Watch’ Exhibition’, bringing Asia’s avant-garde design to the international stage.
As a strategic partner of the HKSAR Government, HKDC is committed to promoting design and creative culture, with a view to reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as an international design hub. HKDC will continue to fully support the Government’s policy initiatives to foster the development of the cultural and creative industries in Hong Kong. Working hand in hand with the industry, we strive to thoroughly implement Hong Kong’s positioning as the ‘East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange’ under the National 15th Five-Year Plan.

The free online platform, established by Agoda and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council in 2025, provides courses on sustainable tourism and hospitality based on the council’s Hotel Standard.
The Skills for Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry Program has supported the translation of the academy into Lao, along with all six sets of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council’s standards.

Removing Language Barriers

A blended-learning course for small tourism businesses in Laos will also be launched as part of the partnership.
“We are proud to partner with the STAF Program and GSTC to bring practical, locally relevant sustainability learning to the Lao tourism industry through the Sustainable Tourism Academy. Jisun Kim, GSTC Training Program Manager, said making the standards available in local languages could help tourism professionals apply them in their work.
“Making sustainability knowledge and the GSTC Standards available in local languages is essential to strengthening capacity and supporting practical implementation,” Jisun said.
The Skills for Tourism, Agriculture and Forestry Program is co-financed by Luxembourg, Switzerland and the European Union. It is implemented by the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports in partnership with LuxDev, the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Agency.
Since its launch in 2025, the Sustainable Tourism Academy has reached nearly 5,000 tourism professionals and aspiring practitioners across Asia and has been recognized by ASEAN as a regional capacity-building resource.
