Simple, safe, fast: AnyDesk presents Version 7.0
AnyDesk is introducing many new, helpful features with the new Version 7.0 for Windows. In addition to a clearer user interface, the update also offers optimized authorization management and new privacy functions.
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 7 December 2021 – AnyDesk, one of the leading companies for remote desktop solutions, is launching AnyDesk 7.0. For the company, the update is the next step in further simplifying the remote maintenance solution. AnyDesk 7.0 is initially available for Windows users, with other operating systems to follow at a later stage. Many new features address user feedback and preferences.
![]()
Simple: New authorizations and a more intuitive user interface
The update to Version 7.0 sees numerous innovations in the AnyDesk Client. Users can now create different authorization profiles for access to their devices. If others want to access the user’s own device via AnyDesk, the user can choose between authorization profiles with just one click. That even precedes release for use. Thus, for example, it is possible to oversee whether the accessing user is granted full access or, say, just access to shared screen content. This means, on the one hand, that users can grant full access rights to trusted AnyDesk users, such as family members. Conversely, people who cannot be trusted to that extent can be assigned a profile with restricted authorizations, such as just “share screen”.
In addition, every profile can be secured using an individual Unattended Access password. If several people are meant to have access to the same device, they can now also be given different passwords – and consequently different authorizations when accessing the device. That increases security and monitoring.
The user interface has also been further developed. The intuitive and much-simplified user interface (UI) in Version 7.0 is geared to a conventional web browser layout. It employs a tile view for selecting devices, and a search bar for finding available devices. Another new feature is the option to invite another user directly to a remote desktop session. The user on the invitation page receives a message and can accept or refuse the session invitation within a two-minute window.
Safe: Greater privacy during the remote session
Many new functions increase security and privacy during use. For instance, there is a session indicator, which indicates the current incoming session in the form of a colored frame. In addition, private desktop backgrounds can be replaced automatically, as soon as an incoming session starts, by a preinstalled background. The accessing user then sees only this configured desktop background. Users of Version 7.0 also have the option of disabling the online status display of other users in their own Client. This particularly supports privacy in a company context, for example if the online status display is disabled for all employees.
Fast: Still the best performance on the market
With Version 7.0, AnyDesk is confirming its market position as one of the fastest remote solutions. Due to the high frame rates, it is capable of fluid imaging with refresh rates of 60 images per second. And thanks to the in-house developed video-codec DeskRT, the version offers latency of under 16 milliseconds in the LAN – a delay that is imperceptible to the human eye. Even in areas with low bandwidths of 100 kB/s, users can look forward to judder-free remote working. Version 7.0 again ships with a bank-level security standard, in its TLS 1.2 technology. All sessions support perfect forward secrecy and can be further protected against unsupervised access using two-factor authentication. This also applies for the User Account login.
Version 7 coincides with company anniversary
The launch of Version 7.0 also sees the company, founded in 2014, celebrating its seven-year anniversary. For CEO Philipp Weiser, the update is an important step into the future: “For us, product development means cooperation with our users. Good tech companies listen to the feedback from their community, to criticism every bit as much as future wishes. The new features in Version 7.0 are the best evidence of how users become co-developers.”

SAP Boosts the United Nations’ Humanitarian Response with Faster, More Accurate Data
SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 7 December 2021 – SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) today announced that the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) selected SAP’s 4W-Wizard tool that aims at enabling customers to realise time savings and to focus on delivering humanitarian aid during disasters.
OCHA’s adoption of the SAP 4W Wizard tool in humanitarian missions across the Asia Pacific region is intended to help people in Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, and Cambodia, as well as recent crises in the Philippines, Turkey, and South Sudan by bringing together conversational AI, data analytics, and automation.
“Every minute counts when it comes to providing fast and effective humanitarian relief. In one case, the 4W-Wizard tool from SAP helped us to reduce the time taken to process data, transforming what used to take a massive amount of effort and resources into something easy and quick to do. That makes a huge difference in our work – and by extension, to the people we support,” said John Marinos, former Regional Information Management Officer for Asia Pacific-Japan at OCHA.
Tried and tested technology to save time – and lives
“About 235 million people globally have needed humanitarian assistance and protection in 2021. But COVID-19 and the ongoing travel restrictions have forced us to scale back the number of international aid workers we can deploy, severely impacting the support we could provide to vulnerable populations. It means we have to find new ways to save time and resources, so can ensure every second and every dollar is put to the right place,” added Marinos.
In Nepal, for example, the OCHA team utilized the SAP 4W-Wizard in its launch of a Humanitarian Response Plan for COVID-19 response, requesting US$83 million worth of live-saving assistance to more than 9 million people. The tool was aimed at minimising time-consuming manual tasks and allowing workers to focus on implementing a proactive, anticipatory approach to prepare for future disasters like monsoons, securing emergency funds and mitigating suffering for the most vulnerable.
OCHA also used the SAP 4W-Wizard tool to embark on its objective of achieving seamless coordination between non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to empower local organisations while collecting more information than ever before. In Nepal, the inclusion of more local NGOs and community-based organisations proved critical in driving trust in and donations for OCHA’s humanitarian efforts.
Innovative technology to make every second count in a disaster
The 4W-Wizard, which runs on the SAP Business Technology Platform and uses machine learning and natural language processing technologies, uses information on the aid rendered by NGOs to help improve visibility, collaboration, and planning on a common platform.
“We’ve been aiming to prototype new ways that could help humanitarian response at SAP for some years. We designed the SAP 4W-Wizard as an innovative way that helps organisations like the UN to achieve addressing the big challenges we face today, be it climate change, natural disasters, or COVID-19. Rapid access to useable data is crucial for aid personnel to respond accurately to crises and disaster situations, and to be prepared for what might happen in the future,” said Carsten Boekholt, Industry and Customer Innovation Advisor, SAP APJ.
“The future of humanitarian response will be smarter – tapping on technology to help connect the dots, enable coordination, and mitigate waste and inefficiencies that result from manual reporting,” added Mr. Boekholt.
The SAP 4W-Wizard tool was initiated by Relief.iO, a fully funded, internal SAP start-up committed to building a supply chain collaboration platform for disaster relief. Relief.iO emerged out of South-East Asia under SAP’s One Billion Lives program, a crowd-sourced program that employs SAP technology with the intention of delivering sustainable, commercially viable social impact. Ongoing projects include tackling cancer drug effectiveness in India and aiming to improve disaster prevention and preparedness in Japan.

AIA Commits to Achieving Net-Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2050
Largest pan-Asian life and health insurer to commit to net-zero emissions
AIA has also completed divestment from coal mining and coal-fired power seven years ahead of target
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 7 December 2021 – AIA Group Limited (“AIA” or the “Company”; stock code: 1299) announces its commitment to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. AIA has also committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. In addition, AIA has completed the entire divestment of directly-managed listed equity and fixed income exposure to coal mining and coal-fired power businesses, seven years ahead of schedule.
Lee Yuan Siong, AIA Group Chief Executive and President, said, “Our commitment to net-zero by 2050 will support the delivery of long-term sustainable value for our customers, our shareholders and our communities. AIA is wholly focused on Asia and, driven by our Purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives, we have a responsibility to help address climate change and contribute to sustainable and healthier development for Asia.”
Amita Chaudhury, AIA Group Head of Sustainability, said, “We know that our communities are exposed to the damaging effects of climate change. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has warned that extreme climate events will increase morbidity and mortality, particularly in Asia(1). AIA’s net zero commitment allows us to play an important role in reducing the risk that climate change poses to the health of communities in Asia and to deliver on our Purpose.“
Commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative
AIA’s Science Based Targets (SBT) will be in line with the latest climate science necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to well-below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C. These five-to-ten-year targets will be reviewed every five years.
We will integrate the SBTi commitment into our US$286 billion investment portfolio(2) engagement processes, with the target that 100 per cent of in-scope investee companies establish their own SBT by 2040. Working closely with SBTi, we will set comprehensive targets for the Group’s operational emissions. The SBTi will also provide an independent assessment and validation of AIA’s targets.
Global industry ESG leadership through coal divestment
In the culmination of a multi-year exercise, we have divestedfrom our entire directly-managed listed equity and fixed income exposure to coal mining and coal-fired power businesses. We completed this divestment in October 2021, seven years ahead of our original target. AIA will make no new investments in businesses directly involved in coal mining or generating electricity from coal.
This announcement builds on AIA’s long-term commitment to sustainability, including engagements with the United Nations Global Compact since 2016, the CDP since 2017 and Climate Action 100+ since 2019.
We believe that investing in companies with sound Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices supports the delivery of sustainable outcomes and superior financial returns, enhancing our ability to meet our long-term financial commitments.
Strong corporate governance oversees new net-zero commitment
AIA’s operational emissions will be overseen by a new Climate and Net-Zero Steering Committee that reports directly to the Group Chief Executive and President. AIA’s Group Chief Investment Officer will have direct oversight of the integration of the Company’s net-zero commitment into its portfolio engagement process. Progress against our ambitious climate related goals will be regularly reported to the Company‘s Board of Directors.
AIA’s annual ESG Report will include updates on our progress towards net-zero to ensure accountability and transparency. We will also continue to report on our progress towards the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the UNEP FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI), and towards the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework.

deTour 2021 details “Use(fu)less” design festival
A simultaneous showcase of virtual and physical exhibitions in celebration of the annual event
HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 6 December 2021 – deTour 2021, Hong Kong’s design festival, makes its annual returns to central PMQ from 26 November to 12 December. Organised at PMQ and sponsored by Create Hong Kong, the 2021 deTour festival is a collaborative effort between local creative Shin Wong with Trilingual Design’s Chris Tsui and Adonian Chan that links the virtual with the physical through interactive exhibitions, design seminars and workshops under the singular theme “Use(fu)less”. Though rudimentary concepts and thinking, the exhibition encourages audiences to actively rethink the very basic functions of design.
![]()
deTour 2021 is divided into three main exhibitions presented via 37 workshops and 12 design lectures in both virtual and physical formats, available to the public for free:
International Collaboration: Sputniko! “Red Silk of Fate – The Shrine”
There’s a single common symbol that ties together Chinese, Japanese and Korean mythologies: the “Red Silk of Fate”. Believed to be tied by the gods to two people that are destined to be together.
It is the common subject for Japanese-British artist Sputniko!, who has brought the symbol to life with biotech scientists from NIAS, spun by engineered silkworms and injected with the social-bonding love hormone, oxytocin. Featured through a selection of mediums, from costume design to Japanese short films, each offers an alternative possibility and potential to the red silk thread.
For deTour 2021, especially Sputniko! has collaborated with local design firm, Napp Studio & Architects, for a brand-new reimagining of this mythical silk thread. Carefully ribboned through a piece of fabric, the piece is folded to replicate an ancient shrine that’s dedicated to love. It carries new meanings of beliefs and desires, emotions and purpose. Backed by diffused lighting to mimic the soft glow of moonlight, guests are encouraged to admire the ornate floral patterns, and with the ancient lore still fresh in mind, reflect on the meaning of emotion and connection during the time of social distancing, and how innovative biotechnology has granted new meanings to time-honoured tales.
Curators’ Choice: Four design installations that present the power of collaboration
- Philosophy x Design: I know not what CAFÉ (Upper left)
Wherever your go-to spot may be, it is the cup of coffee that defines the experience –– design often relegated to a second after-thought. “I know not what CAFÉ” flips this traditional model and brings design to the forefront to demonstrate how the subtle function of spatial design can shape the coffee shop experience –– and personal perspectives –– as a whole.
- Sound x Design: The Interpreter (Upper right)
- Typography X Design: Type–11 (Lower left)
Does typography matter?
- Sports x Design: Strong Hold Pavilion (Lower right)
The growing popularity of bouldering has opened up new avenues for a deeper understanding of the sport. Indoor bouldering, for example, relies on more conversation and communication of discussions regarding climbing routes and techniques in comparison to outdoor climbing. More importantly, it allows encouragement that can effectively motivate climbers to push further.
Hong Kong rock climbing athlete, Au Chi Fung, joins sustainable designer, Match Chen, in the creation of “Strong Hold Pavilion”, an experimental installation that explores the effectiveness of team camaraderie and verbal motivation. Can the presence of a full team push you further than an individual practice? Guided by a common training technique in sport climbing –– “hang-boarding” –– viewers are challenged to physically put this theory to the test and discover the “useful” and ‘uselessness” of team camaraderie and verbal motivation in the occasion of self-performance.
Selected Entries: 10 locally sourced design groups share creative angles
deTour has always operated as an inspiration space for creativity and open exchange between various design facets. This year’s open call entries were met with an enthusiastic response, receiving over 120 design proposals. Along with professional design teams, this year’s deTour 2021 extended to design students. 10 exhibitors were selected based on the 2021 “Use(fu)less” theme and covers an extensive range of concepts including living environment, technology, interpersonal relationship and spatial design. Two highlights include:
- “ELDER”, designed by JONO Craftspace (Left) – Inspired by the bones in our bodies, “ELDER” reimagines the basic framework of the human figure through the lens of precision manufacturing borne out of the Industrial Revolution. Wood scraps are ingeniously engineered with bionics to replicate the spine, with industry hardware posing as tendons and muscles. It presents a moving art installation that asks, “Can we replicate function shapes of bones in design?” Like those in the human body, the ‘bones’ are subjected to “evolution” overtime to learn new functions –– in this case, the adding of connecting parts impart new meaning and a structural purpose to defunct pieces of wood.
- “Work in the Woods” (Right) – Ideated by three architects, Anson Kwan, Jackie Cheung and Ryan Tung, who collectively graduated from the Bartlett School of Architecture at the University of London, “Work in the Woods” subjects its viewer to a futuristic look into a mixed work-life reality in Hong Kong’s micro apartments. Inspired by the age of the COVID-19 pandemic, changing realities have prompted us to reassess how we live in the future, with a growing desire to work from home. Redefining the meaning of a traditional workspace, “Work in the Woods” reimagines a space that is intuitive and physical to transform banal working routines.
Special Exhibition: Sci-Fi artist Lucy McRae on the future of human existence
To encourage further reflection on an item’s intrinsic Use(fu)less”, deTour 2021 invites world-renowned Sci-Fi artist and body architect, Lucy McRae. She is widely known for her thought-provoking pieces that comment on the future state of humankind through installations, photography, artificial intelligence, edible technology and film.
At PMQ, McRae shares five of her most iconic pieces that reflect this subject through exploring various limits of the body, beauty, biotechnology and the self. It’s a continuation of her exploration of the cultural and emotional impact on science and technology in redesigning the body and the state of the “Future” viewed while questioning “Who am I?”
A virtual exploration of exhibitions and design dialogues at deTour
As exhibitions at deTour are available in both physical and virtual formats, it has allowed deTour to become a destination for design enthusiasts near and afar. The installations are all accessible online through the official website, which is dissected into a short explanation and an accompanying audio track. The track can be played and paused throughout for easy addition of noted connotations at points where the listener feels are useful or useless — fitting into the design festival overall theme “Use(fu)less”. For digital visitors, design dialogues are available online and easily accessed via YouTube. It is these interactive features that have allowed deTour to bring a successful, multi-faceted experience to a wider audience.
