WPS Office Debuts First Desktop-Class Office App on iPadOS, Bringing Mac-Level Productivity

SINGAPORE, April 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — WPS Office (https://www.wps.com), a global leader in AI office solutions,  announced the official launch of WPS for Pad on iPadOS. For the users, ranging from campus to career, this ground-breaking release redefines productivity on the platform, delivering a true desktop-class office experience that leapfrogs traditional competitors, with a complete Mac-level work experience and cutting-edge AI features directly on their tablets.

For years, iPad hardware has evolved rapidly with powerful chips, yet mobile office software has lagged behind, functioning merely as “light editing tools” rather than true productivity engines. Students juggling heavy academic research and young professionals managing massive data spreadsheets on the go have long been forced to switch constantly between laptops and tablets.

WPS for Pad shatters this limitation by bringing a full PC-style workflow to mobile screens, offering deep functional parity, ecosystem synergy, and high performance.

True Desktop Experience: Mac-Consistent Workflow with Zero Learning Curve

Unlike legacy mobile Apps that strip down essential features, WPS for Pad perfectly mirrors the PC and Mac user experience.

  • Mac-Consistent Workflow: Users can enjoy the exact same menus, keyboard shortcuts, and UI layouts as on a desktop, enabling users to effortlessly carry over their PC working habits with zero learning curve.
  • Deep Professional Capabilities: The App offers heavy-duty data processing rarely seen on mobile devices, including professional-grade spreadsheets that support advanced formulas and interactive data tables. It also features a high-level formula editor for complex mathematical, chemical, and engineering notations.
  • Perfect Hardware Integration: The App offers precise Apple Pencil editing for annotating PDFs, drawing formulas, and selecting precise spreadsheet cells. It also fully supports iPadOS Stage Manager for desktop-style multi-window multitasking.

WPS AI: Your Smart Assistant for Effortless Productivity

At the heart of WPS for Pad is a powerful suite of AI tools designed to help users boost efficiency and reduce daily stress.

  • AI Slides: Users can generate full, professional presentations with a single click (“Help Me Write”) and instantly optimize layouts or polish text (“Help Me Rewrite”).
  • AI Spreadsheets: Complex formulas can now be generated using simple, natural language (“Write Formulas”), allowing users to quickly gain insights and spot data trends without needing to memorize complicated syntax (“AI Data Analysis”).

Nowadays, Mobile work has become the standard, but users shouldn’t have to compromise on functionality when we leave their desks, we should edit our files seamlessly across all our device. WPS for Pad fills a massive void in the iOS and iPadOS ecosystem by delivering desktop-grade processing power and intuitive AI capabilities. Whether you are a student in Kuala Lumpur preparing a thesis or a financial analyst in Singapore reviewing data on your commute, WPS is here to make anywhere a productive workspace.

By prioritizing user experience over basic mobile functionality, WPS for Pad fills a long-standing ecological gap in tablet productivity. The App integrates word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and PDF editing into a single, highly efficient application, making it the premier choice for dynamic workforce and student body.

WPS for Pad is now available for downloading on the App Store.

Artist Wallace Woo Redefines Contemporary Abstraction: The Global Launch of “Geological Abstractionism” and the “Stalactite Aesthetics” Manifesto

HONG KONG SAR & NEW YORK, UNITED STATES – Media OutReach Newswire – 10 April 2026 – Wallace Woo Studio is proud to announce a seismic shift in the landscape of contemporary art with the formal introduction of Geological Abstractionism. This global launch is anchored by two definitive academic volumes: the new manifesto The Dimension of Sedimentation (ISBN: 978-988-71890-2-2) and the foundational philosophical art book Stalactite – The Clamorous Stillness (ISBN: 978-988-71890-0-8).

A Synthesis of Time and Matter

Refining a lifetime of meditative practice and artistic devotion, Wallace Woo presents a theoretical framework that transcends traditional abstract expressionism. While mid-century Western abstraction often focused on the “spontaneity of the moment,” Woo’s Geological Abstractionism shifts the focus to the “accumulation of eternity.” At the heart of this movement is Stalactite Aesthetics — a sophisticated visual language where gravity serves as the secondary artist. “In my studio, time does not flow away; it sediments,” says Wallace Woo. “Each layer of pigment represents a crystallized moment of consciousness.”

The Documentation of an Evolution

The global launch is supported by two landmark publications, both of which are part of the Hong Kong Public Libraries permanent collection, ensuring their status as protected intellectual property:

  • The Dimension of Sedimentation: The current manifesto defining the shift from “capturing a moment” to “accumulating time.”
  • Stalactite – The Clamorous Stillness: A visual-philosophical record documenting the transition from the fluid exploration of Zenflow to the established principles of Geological Abstractionism. This volume invites viewers into “Cave Time,” showcasing the artist’s signature “Acrylic with Ink Spirit” technique through two movements: Slow Living and Wild Growth.

Quick Fact Sheet: The Evolution of Abstraction

To position this new movement within art history, the following comparison highlights the breakthrough of Geological Abstractionism:

Movement Driving Force Geological Abstractionism’s Breakthrough
Action Painting (Pollock) Physical Action From human energy to Natural Gravity
Color Field (Rothko) Spiritual Space From visual rendering to Physical Sedimentation
Geological Abstraction (Woo) Gravitational Flow The first “Collaboration between spirit and Earth’s laws.”

The Philosophy: Internal Geomorphology

Woo defines his process as “Inner Geology“ — the study of how spiritual stillness can manifest as physical texture. By utilizing the inherent weight of fluid media and allowing it to settle through verticality, he captures what he calls the “Clamorous Stillness”.

Looking Toward Paris: June 2026

This global announcement serves as a strategic prelude to Woo’s solo exhibition in Paris this coming June at the Espace Temple Gallery, where the physical manifestations of these theories—the “solidified proof of evolution”—will be unveiled to the European art community.

BANGKOK, April 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Lau Yee Wa has been awarded the Grand Prize at the Chommanard International Women’s Literary Award 2026, marking a major milestone as the prize expands from a national to an international platform. Her novel “Tongueless” was selected from more than 70 entries across 13 countries and territories, including ASEAN, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The award, presented in collaboration between Bangkok Bank and Praphansarn Publishing, carries a prize of 500,000 baht.

Lau Yee Wa wins Grand Prize at Chommanard International Women’s Literary Award 2026 BANGKOK

The announcement was made during the Elite Plus Magazine 12th Anniversary Gala Celebration, attended by leading figures in the literary and business communities.

A regional literary platform Eight finalists were shortlisted, representing diverse voices across Asia, including writers from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Their works explored identity, memory, culture, and social change. Ahead of the awards night, finalists joined cultural programs in Thailand, including a visit to Ayutthaya and a media and publishing tour in Bangkok, aimed at deepening engagement with Thailand’s literary ecosystem.

A voice beyond borders Accepting the award, Lau said she never expected Tongueless—first published in Hong Kong in 2019—to be translated into multiple languages or gain international recognition. She described the novel as a story rooted in Hong Kong’s education system, portraying the struggles of teachers within a rigid, exam-driven environment. Though not intended as a political work, she said it reflects deeper questions about identity, language, and freedom.

Her speech, themed “Deschooling Society for Global Peace,” highlighted the need to rethink education systems and reclaim individual voice and agency.

Five ideas for ‘deschooling’ Lau outlined five reflections, including:

  • Reconsidering exam-driven education and allowing children space for curiosity
  • Encouraging authentic self-expression beyond “approved” language
  • Listening to others with openness rather than judgment
  • Supporting alternatives to rigid standards
  • Returning learning to real-life experiences and diverse voices

She concluded by pledging to continue her work as a writer as part of a “quiet revolution” to expand freedom of thought. The award underscores the growing role of women’s literature as a force for cultural dialogue and social change across the region.

iQIYI to Open Its First Central China Theme Park in Wuhan, Continuing to Bring IP Value Beyond the Screen

BEIJING, April 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — On March 28, iQIYI, China’s leading online entertainment platform, announced plans to develop iQIYI LAND in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province. Set within the Hanyangzao Cultural and Creative Industry Park, the park is the company’s first project integrated into an urban renewal initiative, which positions iQIYI LAND as a new cultural and tourism landmark for the city, combining homegrown IP with technology-driven immersive experiences.

Slated to open in 2027, the park is iQIYI’s fourth theme park development and the first in Central China, in partnership with Wuhan Urban Construction Group. It will bring iQIYI’s most beloved Chinese IPs to life through immersive theaters, immersive experiences, immersive stage performances, iconic film-and-TV scene photo spots, live character interactions, and social games, alongside cultural tourism experiences developed around Wuhan’s local heritage. The result is a destination designed not just to entertain, but to deepen the emotional connection audiences already have with iQIYI’s content.

The announcement reflects a broader shift underway in China’s cultural tourism industry, where content and emotional resonance, rather than just scenery and ticket sales, are becoming the primary draw. “IP and technology are the accelerators of this transition,” said Gong YU, founder and CEO of iQIYI. “Powered by technology, we will use IP as our core thread, delivering emotional value through dramas, animation, and variety shows online, and through theme parks and IP-based consumer products offline.”

Building on the Proven Results of iQIYI LAND Yangzhou

The new iQIYI LAND in Wuhan builds on a strong start at iQIYI LAND Yangzhou, which opened on February 8, 2026, and has since earned ratings above 4.9 out of 5 on Dianping, Meituan, and Ctrip, driven by its blend of drama IP experiences and technology-powered immersion. Recent programs include a costume exhibition featuring wardrobe pieces from iQIYI’s shows such as “Mysterious Lotus Casebook” and “FEUD,” as well as upcoming events including an offline promotional event for other upcoming dramas that turns the shows’ streaming momentum into a physical draw.

iQIYI LAND locations in Beijing, China’s Capital in the north, and Kaifeng, a city in eastern Henan Province in Central China, are currently under construction and expected to open later this year. As the network grows, so does iQIYI’s ability to bring the same stories audiences watch at home into spaces they can physically experience.

Vietnam’s Communist Party has dispatched Tran Cam Tu, a Politburo member and Permanent Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee, to Laos.

Tran Cam Tu arrived in Vientiane on 9 April aboard a special flight. He was received at Wattay International Airport by senior Lao party and government officials. The visit was made at the invitation of Vilay Lakhamphong, Permanent Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

During the visit, Tu held separate meetings with Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, and Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone. Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding relationship between Laos and Vietnam, rooted in shared revolutionary history, political trust, and decades of cooperation.

The visit comes amid renewed diplomatic momentum between the two countries. Earlier this week, Lao leaders exchanged congratulatory messages with Vietnam following the re-election of To Lam as President, while preparations were underway for the high-level delegation visit to Vientiane. Officials on both sides emphasized continued commitment to strengthening friendship, solidarity, and strategic cooperation.

The timing also follows recent political transitions in both countries, including party congresses and leadership changes. Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam noted that this is the first visit by a senior Vietnamese leader to Laos since the 14th National Party Congress.

Discussions focused on implementing the “strategic cohesion” framework, introduced during To Lam’s visit to Vientiane on Lao National Day on 2 December. Both sides stressed the need to translate this framework into concrete cooperation across trade, infrastructure, energy, defense, and people-to-people exchanges.

Economic cooperation remains a central pillar of the relationship. Vietnam is one of the largest foreign investors in Laos, with projects spanning energy, mining, agriculture, and telecommunications. Both countries are also working to improve transport and logistics connectivity, including regional initiatives such as the East–West Economic Corridor, which links Laos to Vietnamese ports and broader regional markets.

Recent discussions in southern Laos have also focused on accelerating cross-border trade and infrastructure development, including plans to strengthen road, rail, and energy links connecting Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand.

Prime Minister Sonexay also extended congratulations to Vietnam’s newly appointed Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.Officials say the latest visit reflects ongoing efforts to deepen coordination between the two countries as they move to implement their upgraded strategic partnership.

Laos Braces for Extreme Heat During New Year Celebrations

This photo is used for representational purpose only.

Laos is on alert for extreme hot weather during the Lao New Year celebrations, with some areas expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The warning covers the period from 10 to 16 April, coinciding directly with Pi Mai Lao, with authorities cautioning that dangerously high temperatures will be felt nationwide over several consecutive days.

The most severe conditions are forecast for the central provinces, where Vientiane, Bolikhamxay, Khammouane, and Savannakhet are all expected to reach the 43-degree-Celsius peak. Vientiane Capital and northern provinces, including Luang Namtha, Oudomxay, Bokeo, Luang Prabang, and Xayabouly, are forecast to climb to 42 degrees Celsius.

Despite the heat, conditions will not be dry all across the country.

Some areas can expect moderate to heavy rainfall, strong thunderstorms, hailstorms, and powerful winds, making it essential for residents to remain alert to rapidly shifting weather throughout the period.

On the health front, officials are urging the public to avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, citing serious heatstroke risk.

The Ministry of Education and Sports has advised schools to avoid all outdoor activities for students until the extreme heat subsides, with particular concern raised for the elderly and young children.

Authorities also caution that prolonged extreme temperatures may trigger fires and electrical short circuits.
