Cambodian Conglomerate Prince Holdings Donates USD 1 Million to Laos to Fight Covid-19

This Week

Cambodian conglomerate Prince Holding Group has donated USD 1 million to the Government of Laos to assist in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

The donation, made by Neak Oknha Chen Zhi, Chairman of Prince Holding Group, came in response to Cambodian authorities’ request to increase collaboration with Laos in battling the epidemic, Khmer Times reports.

Chen Zhi sits at the helm of a Cambodian group of companies, including Prince Holding Group, Prince Real Estate Group, Prince Bank, Prince Huan Yu, Belt Road Capital Management, and Cambodia Airways.

The donation comes after Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith met with his counterpart, Cambodian President Hun Sen, in Hanoi on 26 September.

The two presidents also met with Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phi Trong, with the three parties discussing the importance of the three parties’ and countries’ traditional relations, solidarity, and friendship.

High on the agenda at the meeting was also the fight against Covid-19.

Just days later, Cambodia provided Laos with some 200,000 doses of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine to assist the country in its battle against the coronavirus outbreak.

The shipment from Cambodia is the first time Laos has received doses of the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine.
