Miss Universe Laos Homeward Bound After Global Beauty Contest Success

This Week

Payengxa Lor, who made history by becoming the first Miss Universe Laos contestant to ever reach the top 16 in the Miss Universe Pageant, will return home this week after participating in the beauty contest last Saturday.

On a recent Facebook live event on the Miss Universe Laos FB page, the 21-year-old model informed that she will arrive at Wattay International Airport on Thursday afternoon.

Lor thanked her numerous well-wishers in Laos, the United States, and other countries for their support, before her return home.

“Speaking from the bottom of my heart, I did not feel afraid or nervous when I was on stage, and after I was named one of the top 16 finalists, I felt happy and proud of my country,” she said.

More than 5,500 viewers tuned in to the live session to hear about Lor’s experience of representing Laos on such a prestigious global platform.

Among her numerous appearances on the Miss Universe stage, Lor’s supporters appreciated the ethnic outfit she wore in the costume round that was inspired by the traditional designs donned by the Khmu, Lowland Lao, and Hmong peoples, who are three major ethnic minority groups in the country.
