Thai Motorcyclist Arrested for Illegally Crossing Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge

Suthi Amphornthip, a 31-year-old Roi Et resident, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses.

Police in Mukdahan Province apprehended a Thai national following an illegal border crossing with a motorcycle at the Second Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge on Monday.

Thailand’s Police TV reports that police and immigration officers made the arrest of a Thai man after he illegally crossed the border into Laos with a cruiser motorcycle.

Suthi Amphornthip, a 31-year-old Roi Et resident, was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including illegal border crossing and amphetamine use.

Upon his arrest, police discovered a handgun and ammunition, watches and jewelry, as well as  BTH 147,000 in cash (USD 4,469).

The man was informed of his rights and the charges against him prior to the officer recording his arrest and transporting him to the Mukdahan Police Station in accordance with the law.
