To attract more investment to the That Luang Lake SEZ, the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Office in Laos signed an agreement with Huangpu Renewable Resources Utilization Company and Lao That Luang Investment and Development Company Limited last week.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Chen Guangbiao, Chairman of Huangpu Renewable Resources Utilization Company Limited, Mr. Sonepaseuth Daravong, Head of the SEZ Promotion and Management Office, Mr. Thanongxay Khoutphaythoune, Director of the Special Economic Zone Promotion and Management Office, and a representative of Lao That Luang Investment and Development Company Limited.
During the event, Mr. Sonepaseuth Dalavong, Head of the SEZ Promotion and Management Office, discussed the thousands of job opportunities created for locals by the special economic zones in the country and the value of goods produced and exported, which exceed USD 3 billion.
Currently, Chinese companies are operating in six special economic zones in Laos, representing 69.23 percent of all companies operating in the SEZs throughout the country.
Mr. Sonepaseuth Daravong, added that the Laos-China Railway and the Vientiane-Vangvieng expressway have made travel within the country more accessible and convenient, attracting even more businesses to SEZs.
The MOU signing between the SEZ Promotion and Management Office, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Huangpu Renewable Resources Utilization Company, and That Luang Investment and Development Company Limited is expected to encourage more foreign companies to invest in Laos.
