Laos Marks First Full-Train Cassava Starch Export to China via Laos-China Railway

This Week

A train carrying 1,000 tons of cassava starch departed from Vientiane South Station on 29 November, bound for Zhengzhou in central China’s Henan Province.

This shipment marks the first time Laos has exported a full trainload of cassava starch to China via the Laos-China Railway (LCR).

The cassava starch, entirely produced by a local Lao factory, embarked on an approximately 80-hour journey that highlights the country’s expanding role as a supplier of agricultural products to China and the broader ASEAN region.

China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd., which operates China-Europe freight trains, organized the shipment and handled all logistics, from planning and loading to tracking and delivery.

To date, LCR has now transported over 16 million tons of freight, including more than 1.7 million tons of agricultural products that Lao exporters have sent to China.
