This is a developing story.
A small aircraft crashed in Pakngum District, Vientiane Capital, on the morning of Sunday, 8 March, leaving one person dead and another seriously injured, according to rescue officials.
The incident occurred behind Khoksa Airport, a small private airfield in the district. The Rescue Volunteer for People team reported receiving an emergency call at approximately 10:30 AM, prompting them to immediately dispatch personnel to the scene.
Upon arrival, rescue workers confirmed that a yellow small aircraft had gone down. One foreign national was pronounced dead at the scene, while one Lao national, a woman, sustained injuries and received emergency medical treatment.
Update 2:15 PM: Rescue officials have confirmed that the injured Lao woman has since succumbed to her injuries, bringing the total death toll to two.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
