“With our 2025 firmware releases, we’re not just increasing the adjustable peak power—we’re giving riders more freedom to shape how their drive system behaves,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Product Experience Director at Avinox. “These updates reflect our commitment to delivering meaningful innovations that enhance performance, protect components, and make the ride feel more intuitive, responsive, and personalized.”

More Power Where It Counts

Riders can now choose to adjust to 1,000 watts of peak power in Auto, Trail, and Turbo modes—a 17.6% increase over previous performance limits. The adjustable assistance range in Trail and Turbo modes has also been expanded, giving cyclists more control without affecting pre-set configurations.

Smarter Boosts and Quicker Starts

Boost mode is now adjustable from 10 to 60 seconds, offering flexible power bursts on climbs or during sprints. A new Quick Start function enables the motor to respond more rapidly when pedaling begins—ideal for technical inclines.

Advanced Control and Customization

The updates introduce Real-Time Tune, a feature allowing riders to use wireless controllers to increase or decrease assist levels on the fly within the current mode. Assist modes can now be reordered, hidden, or renamed, and the control display supports up to 8 data items, including bar and line charts, a stopwatch, and visualizations.

In addition, the system now supports:

  • SmoothShift (Sram X0 Eagle Transmission Derailleur required): allows gear shifting during coasting using the AXS controller, enhancing control without pedaling. When a gear shifting is detected, torque will be reduced to achieve chain protection and extend its lifespan (needs to be enabled manually).
  • Control Center: monitor bike status, record data, and manage accessories directly from the onboard display.
  • Custom charging limits: Users can now select battery charge thresholds of 70%, 80%, 95%, or 100%, balancing longevity and range.

Improved App Experience and Connectivity

The New Avinox Ride App v1.3.3 introduces enhanced UI consistency, the ability to delete ride data, improved Strava synchronization, and historical accident movement viewing. It also supports password security upgrades with six-digit authentication and a 30-second screen lock after multiple failed attempts.

Bluetooth compatibility has been refined, ensuring stability when setting drivetrain parameters and improving ride data consistency between the app and display.

Update Instructions

These updates are available through the New Avinox Ride App version v1.3.3, and are compatible with both iOS and Android devices. Riders are encouraged to update their systems to take full advantage of these new features. For optimal performance, riders need to update both the app and drive unit simultaneously.

The Brain Prize: HM The King of Denmark presents prestigious prize to US and German scientists for seminal discoveries in brain cancer

Two pioneering scientists received The Brain Prize 2025 for their discoveries that open an entirely new way of thinking about and understanding brain cancers, and the potential strategies to treat them.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, May 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — HM King Frederik of Denmark presented neuroscientists, Professors Michelle Monje (USA) and Frank Winkler (Germany), with their Brain Prize medals and a diploma at a ceremony in Copenhagen Wednesday evening. The Brain Prize is the world’s largest award for outstanding contributions to neuroscience worth EUR 1.3 million.

Thomas Tolstrup.

During the ceremony, HM The King gave a speech praising the two prize recipients for their discoveries:

“Your achievements in cancer neuroscience are truly extraordinary. You are an inspiration not only to your peers, but to generations of scientists yet to come. Thanks to your tireless efforts, there is hope that one day all types of brain cancer can be cured.”

Monje and Winkler have made transformative discoveries by showing that the everyday activity that takes place in the brain drives the development of cancers within it. Recent studies further show that the influence of the nervous system is not only limited to tumours in the brain, but also tumours throughout the body.

These remarkable findings have laid the foundation for an entirely new field of research called ‘Cancer Neuroscience’ that represents a paradigm shift in the understanding of these cancers, and which offers vital new opportunities for treatment. New treatments are critical since cancers that arise in the brain, particularly the ones known as gliomas, are extraordinarily difficult to treat, and are the leading cause of brain tumour-related deaths in both children and adults.

The Brain Prize has been awarded every year since 2011 by the Lundbeck Foundation. The celebration takes place in Copenhagen, and this year 360 invited guests attended. Guests of honor were the prize winners and their families, as well as patron of the prize, HM The King of Denmark.

The Brain Prize 2025 is awarded to:

Michelle Monje MD, PhD, the Milan Gambhir Professor of Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at Stanford Medicine and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator,

and

Frank Winkler, MD, Professor of Experimental Neuro-Oncology,

Heidelberg University, Heidelberg University Hospital, Department of Neurology, and German Cancer Research Center

for:

Pioneering Cancer Neuroscience: disease-driving interactions between the brain and brain tumours.

Musk to Exit US Government Role After Rare Break With Trump

(FILES) Co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency Elon Musk looks on as US President Donald Trump meets with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC, on May 21, 2025. Billionaire Elon Musk on May 28, 2025 said he was leaving his position within the US government after leading the so-called Department of Government Efficiency in a controversial effort to slash federal spending. "As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending," he wrote on his social media platform X. (Photo by Jim WATSON / AFP)

By Danny KEMP/AFP – Billionaire Elon Musk on 28 May announced he was leaving his role in US government, intended to reduce federal spending, shortly after his first major break with President Donald Trump over his signature spending bill.

“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” he wrote on his social media platform X.

“The DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government,” he added.

The South African-born tech tycoon had said Trump’s bill would increase the deficit and undermine the work of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has fired tens of thousands of people.

Musk, who was a constant presence at Trump’s side before pulling back to focus on his Space X and Tesla businesses, also complained that DOGE had become a “whipping boy” for dissatisfaction with the administration.

“I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk said in an interview with CBS News, an excerpt of which aired late Tuesday.

Trump’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act”, which passed the US House last week and now moves to the Senate, offers sprawling tax relief and spending cuts and is the centerpiece of his domestic agenda.

But critics warn it will decimate health care and balloon the national deficit by as much as USD 4 trillion over a decade.

“A bill can be big, or it can be beautiful. But I don’t know if it can be both. My personal opinion,” Musk said in the interview, which will be aired in full on 25 May.

The White House sought to play down any differences over US government spending, without directly naming Musk.

“The Big Beautiful Bill is NOT an annual budget bill,” Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller said on Musk’s social network, X, after the tech titan’s comments aired.

All DOGE cuts would have to be carried out through a separate bill targeting the federal bureaucracy, according to US Senate rules, Miller added.

But Musk’s comments represented a rare split with the Republican president whom he helped propel back to power, as the largest donor to his 2024 election campaign.

‘Whipping boy’

Trump tasked Musk with cutting government spending as head of DOGE, but after a feverish start Musk announced in late April he was mostly stepping back to run his companies again.

Musk complained in a separate interview with the Washington Post that DOGE, which operated out of the White House with a staff of young technicians, had become a lightning rod for criticism.

“DOGE is just becoming the whipping boy for everything,” Musk told the newspaper at the Starbase launch site in Texas ahead of Space X’s latest launch on Tuesday.

“Something bad would happen anywhere, and we would get blamed for it even if we had nothing to do with it.”

Musk blamed entrenched US bureaucracy for DOGE’s failure to achieve all of its goals — although reports say his domineering style and lack of familiarity with the currents of Washington politics were also major factors.

“The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realized,” he said. “I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in DC, to say the least.”

Musk has previously admitted that he did not achieve all his goals with DOGE even though tens of thousands of people were removed from government payrolls and several departments were gutted or shut down.

Musk’s own businesses suffered in the meantime.

Protesters against the cost-cutting targeted Tesla dealerships while arsonists even torched a few of the electric vehicles, and the firm’s profits slumped.

“People were burning Teslas. Why would you do that? That’s really uncool,” Musk told the Post.

Musk has also been focusing on Space X after a series of fiery setbacks to his dreams of colonizing Mars — the latest of which came on Tuesday when its prototype Starship exploded over the Indian Ocean.

The tycoon last week also said he would pull back from spending his fortune on politics, having spent around a quarter of a billion dollars to support Trump.

Ningxia Wuzhong Power Supply: Energy Storage Capacity Surpasses 2 Million Kilowatts

WUZHONG, China, May 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On May 27th, with the successful commissioning of the Houqiao Second Energy Storage Power Station (100,000 kilowatts / 200,000 kilowatt-hours), the total installed energy storage capacity in the Ningxia-Wuzhong power grid reached 2 million kilowatts / 4 million kilowatt-hours. This achievement significantly enhanced the annual green electricity consumption capacity to over 1 billion kilowatt-hours. State Grid Wuzhong Power Supply Company has actively innovated its service mechanisms, propelling the construction of the new power system in the Wuzhong region into a brand-new phase and providing robust momentum for Ningxia’s realization of the “dual carbon” goals.

In recent years, the Wuzhong Power Grid has made continuous advancements in the field of energy storage construction, achieving remarkable results and maintaining a leading position within the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. To date, 16 grid-side energy storage power stations have been connected to the grid in Wuzhong, with a total capacity of 2.05 million kilowatts / 4.1 million kilowatt-hours, accounting for nearly 42.7% of the total independent energy storage capacity of the Ningxia power grid. Both in terms of the number of grid connections and capacity, it leads the region. This leapfrog development is attributed to the abundant wind and solar resources in Wuzhong City, as well as the efficient and coordinated layout between the government and enterprises.

To ensure the safe and efficient grid connection of energy storage power stations, State Grid Wuzhong Power Supply Company has implemented an advanced service model characterized by “early intervention and full-chain collaboration.” From risk assessment during the project design phase, through process optimization during the feasibility study stage, and finally joint review at the grid connection acceptance stage, the company has formed a specialized joint service team comprising eight technical specialties. A detailed Gantt chart of grid connection progress has been meticulously drawn up, and list-based management has been implemented. In response to the issue of mismatch between substation interval expansion and energy storage connection timing, the company has pioneered an “emergency transition plan,” which has advanced the grid connection time of some power stations by nearly 10 months compared to the original schedule. Additionally, the company’s control center regularly organizes specialized training sessions on dispatch personnel certification, ensuring standardized operation of energy storage power station dispatching services.

The continuous expansion of energy storage scale has yielded significant ecological and economic benefits. The 2 million kilowatt energy storage power station can annually increase green electricity consumption by 1 billion kilowatt-hours, equivalent to saving approximately 360,000 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 950,000 tons. It plays a crucial role in constructing an integrated “source-grid-load-storage” system in Wuzhong. Meanwhile, the powerful peak shaving and frequency regulation capabilities of energy storage power stations effectively alleviate peak and off-peak pressures on the power grid, significantly enhancing power supply reliability. Leveraging the intelligent dispatching and control system, State Grid Wuzhong Power Supply Company can monitor more than 270 key data points in real-time, including charging/discharging status, charging/discharging volume, and equipment operation data, presenting them through a customized panoramic interface. This truly realizes “one-screen control” of energy storage operations and provides robust data support for flexible power grid dispatching.

It is anticipated that by 2025, the Wuzhong power grid will add 4 million kilowatts of new energy capacity and 1.16 million kilowatts / 3.02 million kilowatt-hours of new energy storage capacity. State Grid Wuzhong Power Supply Company will continue to optimize its “one-stop” grid connection service, vigorously promote the deep integration of energy storage with clean energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind power, accelerate the pace of “new energy + energy storage” demonstration applications, and contribute significantly to the construction of a new power system centered on new energy in Ningxia.

Chengdu: Empower Dreams with the Wings of Sci-Fi

CHENGDU, China, May 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Once upon a time, sci-fi was synonymous with classic works from Europe and America such as Star Wars20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Journey to the Center of the Earth. However, Chinese sci-fi author Liu Cixin made history when the first installment of his trilogy The Three-Body Problem won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Novel at the 73rd World Science Fiction Convention, becoming the first Asian to receive this honor. The achievement marked the first time the world truly began to pay attention to Chinese sci-fi. Furthermore, Chengdu hosted the 81st World Science Fiction Convention in 2023, the first time the event was held in China and second time in Asia. Today, The Three-Body Problem has been translated into over 30 languages and has captivated global audiences through its novels and screen adaptations. Yet few know that the first book of the trilogy was originally serialized in Chengdu’s sci-fi magazine Science Fiction World.

Chengdu International Sci-Fi Industry Salon

To further promote Chengdu’s sci-fi industry and strengthen international collaboration in the field, the Chengdu International Sci-Fi Industry Salon, organized by National Business Daily and hosted by NBD Think Tank, was held in Chengdu on May 28, 2025. The event brought together leading global sci-fi companies and experts to discuss the future of the industry. Attendees included representatives from France’s Hachette Publishing Group (the world’s second-largest publishing group), Japan’s D’Art Shtajio Animation Studio (the first major anime studio led by African American creators). During the presentation, Hachette and D’Art Shtajio shared insights on sci-fi IP development, copyright management, and animation production, while delivering speeches on topics such as “ideal environments for sci-fi innovation” and “enhancing cross-border industry collaboration.”

The event also featured prominent international experts, including Brigitte Leblanc, Editor-in-Chief of Le Rayon imaginaire, Hachette Heroes, Hachette Livre (responsible for publishing the French edition of The Three-Body Problem comic), American animation director Dalton Grant (known for Cars and Shrek), etc. During roundtable discussions, Grant emphasized sci-fi’s role in sparking unexpected creativity and overcoming perceived limits, while Leblanc cited The Three-Body Problem‘s global success as a model for international IP cooperation.

The organizers stated that such platforms aim to drive Chengdu’s sci-fi industry toward greater diversity, depth, and global integration, while amplifying the reach of Chinese sci-fi works abroad and fostering cultural exchange between China and the world.

HTX DeepThink: Rotation Signals Emerging—Crypto Credit and InfoFi Poised as New Market Focal Points

SINGAPORE, May 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As May draws to a close, the crypto market continues its upward momentum, fueled by a renewed wave of macro liquidity. Bitcoin demonstrates resilience, with improved on-chain capital structure and a steady rise in risk appetite. High-beta assets and quality altcoins are drawing increasing attention, signaling an emerging rotation trend. This week, Chloe (@ChloeTalk1) from HTX Research explores the evolving potential and structural value of crypto credit and InfoFi as key sectors in this next phase.

Structural Shift Under Macro Support: Bitcoin Holds Firm as Altseason Builds Momentum

As of May 21, 2025, the Federal Reserve’s net liquidity has rebounded to 6,022.869, recovering strongly from its early-May low. Although it has not yet reached the key range of 6,100–6,200, this trend signals an initial return of liquidity, providing macro-level support for the crypto market.

Despite last week’s long-bond auctions disappointing on both sides of the Pacific—with the U.S. 20-year yield pushed above 5 %, and Japan’s long-end rates setting 25-year highs—stoking global liquidity-squeeze fears, the impact is somewhat mitigated. The U.S. Treasury is primarily absorbing cash mainly via 3- to 6-month T-Bills, which tends to drain money-market funds rather than risk assets. Furthermore, the Fed retains the ability to pause quantitative tightening (QT) or open its repo facilities at will, capping potential spillover effects.

Bitcoin has held firm. Spot ETFs continue to post modest daily inflows, over 70 % of Bitcoin supply has remained dormant for six months or more, exchange balances are falling, and Asian/Middle-East buyers continue to buy dips. Even if net Treasury issuance jumps to roughly $1.25 trillion in Q3, short-dated supply and repo backstops dilute the drag on high-beta assets, while ETF passive holdings and “hard hands” diffuse selling pressure; a weaker-dollar narrative adds further support.

On-chain data shows that public chains like Solana and Base are seeing sustained increases in activity, with capital gradually shifting from BTC-dominated safe-haven assets to high-beta altcoins. BTC Dominance remains elevated and has not yet experienced a significant pullback, but if it drops below 52% in the coming sessions, coupled with further liquidity expansion, a new altcoin season could kick off.

Wall Street Doubles Down on Crypto Credit: Maple Becomes the Institutional Capital Gateway

Cantor Fitzgerald has launched a Bitcoin-collateralized credit program with a total size of $2 billion, signaling Wall Street’s formal and large-scale entry into the crypto credit market. Initial recipients of this facility include crypto broker FalconX and the decentralized lending protocol Maple Finance. FalconX has already drawn over $100 million under this framework, and Maple Finance has completed its first loan issuance through the program.

The $SYRUP token, associated with Maple Finance, is available on HTX through spot trading, perpetual futures, and earn products. Since its spot listing, $SYRUP has surged by 110%, with strong performance also seen in derivatives—underscoring growing market recognition and investor confidence in the project. Maple’s newly launched syrupUSDC/USDT perpetual institutional credit pool offers 8–12% annual yields with high collateral transparency, rapidly attracting large volumes of idle institutional stablecoins. This month, the TVL surged from $800 million to $1.3 billion—markets are “voting with their feet,” fully validating the appeal and growth potential of the SYRUP model.

InfoFi Rising Star: $COOKIE Poised to Trigger the Next Revaluation Cycle

Based on current on-chain trends and macro liquidity data, $COOKIE is expected to be on the verge of explosive growth within the InfoFi sector. Compared to similarly positioned projects like Kaito, CookieDotFun’s current market cap is just one-fifth. Once the Cookie leaderboard, ad slot bidding, and other InfoFi monetization mechanisms go live, $COOKIE’ valuation ceiling could be lifted.

HTX has launched COOKIE/USDT perpetual futures, while KAITO—previously featured in the HTX DeepThink column—has also been listed on HTX, with a remarkable 138% gain over the past 30 days.

The Humansa BrainSpark Program is a timely response to the alarming statistics in developed Asia-Pacific regions, where the mean life expectancy has reached 85 years. Yet, 1 in 3 individuals aged 85 or above may suffer from dementia, a devastating disease that robs individuals of their independence and quality of life. Research shows that 45% of dementia cases can be prevented or delayed by optimizing modifiable risk factors, making early detection and personalized interventions critical.

A Revolutionary Approach to Brain Health

The Humansa BrainSpark Program embodies a proactive approach to brain health by offering:

Comprehensive Brain Health Assessment: Powered by state-of-the-art AI retinal imaging technology (i-Cog Brain Health) led and developed by Prof. Vincent Mok’s team, the program evaluates brain health and identifies early signals of Alzheimer’s disease. The AI model, developed and validated using nearly 13,000 fundus photographs from 648 Alzheimer’s patients and 3,240 cognitively normal subjects, demonstrated accuracies ranging from 80% to 92% among various datasets of multi-ethnicities and multi-countries. The study was led by CUHK in collaboration with Universities in Singapore (National University of Singapore, Duke-National University, Nanyang Technological University), China (Tsinghua University), US (Mayo Clinic) and UK (Queen’s University Belfast). The findings were published in the prestigious Lancet Digital Health journal in 2022.

Tailor-Made Lifestyle Solutions: The Humansa BrainSpark Program offers tailor-made solutions that go beyond standard care, focusing on early detection and prevention of major chronic diseases, including Alzheimer’s and dementia. By combining advanced AI technology with personalized care, Humansa provides lifestyle interventions, medical support, and preventive strategies tailored to each individual’s unique risk profile. Additionally, Humansa’s signature membership program offers a holistic anti-aging solution. This comprehensive package includes personalized recommendations on supplements, the frequency of restorative therapies, and other longevity strategies, empowering individuals to take proactive steps toward better brain health and overall well-being.

Professor Vincent Mok, Founding Director of i-Cognitio Sciences and Mok Hing Yiu Professor of Medicine of CUHK explains, “The retina is an extension of the brain, and through non-invasive fundus photography, we can detect changes in the blood vessels and nerves of the retina that are associated with Alzheimer’s disease. These changes can appear 10–15 years before symptoms develop, giving us a critical window for early intervention. This AI model can identify early microvascular changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease that may not be detected even by conventional MRI, making it a powerful tool for identifying high-risk cases in both clinical and community settings.”

Regarding the Humansa BrainSpark Program, Professor Mok adds, “This program is an innovative initiative that combines cutting-edge AI technology with personalized care approach. It encourages individuals to take proactive steps to protect their brain health, enabling early preventive treatments and lifestyle changes that can slow cognitive decline and preserve quality of life.”

Aligning with Humansa’s Methodology to Longevity

The newly launched Humansa BrainSpark Program is a cornerstone of Humansa’s methodology to longevity and its signature Future Health Program, which emphasizes prevention, early detection, and personalized care. Cognitive function is a critical pillar of Humansa’s longevity strategy, as maintaining brain health is essential for living a long, independent, and fulfilling life.

Don So, CEO of Humansa, shares, “At Humansa, we believe that aging is not a passive process—it’s a skill, a choice, and a science. Cognitive function is at the heart of our longevity strategy because it directly impacts an individual’s ability to live independently and enjoy life to the fullest. The symptoms may show up decades later, but the seeds are often planted much earlier. The silent inflammation, the unchecked insulin resistance, and the daily choices—small and seemingly insignificant—that quietly shape your destiny. The Brain Health Program is a testament to our commitment to empowering individuals to live longer, healthier lives by providing them with the tools and knowledge to protect their brain health.”
