Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm Officially Begins Commercial Operation

  • The Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm has begun commercial operation at its design capacity of 640MW.
  • The project’s 80 wind turbine generators lift Taiwan’s installed total offshore wind capacity above 3.9 GW.
  • Enough clean energy to power over 600,000 Taiwanese households annually.

HAMBURG, GERMANY – EQS Newswire – 21 August 2025 – Yunneng Wind Power Co., Ltd. (Yunneng) announced today that the Yunlin Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) has officially entered full commercial operation. The 640 MW OWF, consisting out of 80 fully grid-connected wind turbine generators (WTGs), has successfully secured all required electricity business licenses, has met all mandatory regulatory aspects and has fulfilled all applicable contractual obligations under the financing agreement. This achievement marks a significant milestone as one of Taiwan’s largest OWFs transitions into its operations and maintenance (O&M) phase.

Yunneng is a joint venture of Skyborn Renewables, TotalEnergies, Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group) and Sojitz Corporation. With the start of the commercial operation, TotalEnergies will take the lead of the technical operations management, while Skyborn will continue to oversee other management services. The Yunlin OWF achieved full grid connection in January 2025 and provides green energy to over 600,000 Taiwanese homes annually. With a capacity of 2,400 Gigawatt hours (GWh), and meeting 90% of Yunlin County’s non-industrial electricity needs, the Yunlin OWF will also reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 1,200,000 t per year.

“The Yunlin OWF was awarded its grid connection capacity in 2018 and has since progressed towards COD. Throughout this journey, the project has established new models of collaboration with local suppliers and financing of green energy projects in Taiwan. It has also embraced environmental protection and community engagement. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the collective efforts of the project team, the sponsors and lenders, the contractors, as well as to the unwavering support of the Taiwanese government. This landmark offshore wind farm will continue to dedicate its commitment to achieve operational excellence over the next 30 years,” said Xian-Shuen (XS), Chairperson of Yunneng.

The Yunlin OWF is located in the Taiwan Strait, between 8 and 17 km off the west coast of Taiwan, at water depths from 7 up to 35 m. The 82 km² project area comprises 80 WTGs, whose generated electricity is fed into the Taiwanese power grid via two onshore substations near the townships of Taixi and Sihu in Yunlin County. Electricity from the project is provided to Taiwan Power Company (TPC) under two 20-year power purchase agreements. The project is backed by a strong financial consortium established in 2019, including Taiwanese and international banks alongside export credit agencies.

SKF’s new brand identity recognized with two awards in prestigious design competition

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Aug. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — During the spring, SKF, together with the design agency NORD ID at NORD DDB, launched an updated brand identity. That update has now earned a rare double win in the internationally renowned Red Dot Design Award. “Red Dot is an international mark of excellence in design and business,” says Daniel Sjöstrand, Head of Brand at SKF.

SKF and NORD ID have been recognized with two Red Dot awards for SKF’s refreshed identity – marking their first-ever double win. The honors include one award for the SKF Display font and the coveted ‘Best of the Best’ for the entire brand update. The Red Dot Design Award is considered one of the world’s largest and most respected competitions celebrating outstanding design, with winners selected through a rigorous process that recognizes only the most exceptional work.

“We started this journey to become even more SKF, with a visual expression that matches our history, knowledge, and the value we bring to the world. The result is a bold identity that reflects our hundred-year history of innovation while also pushing for the future we envision. To now have it recognized with two Red Dot awards is a great testament to that,” says Daniel Sjöstrand, Head of Brand at SKF.

For over a century, SKF has been a leader in products and solutions that reduce friction. The new brand strategy, also developed with NORD DDB, builds on this legacy to close the gap between SKF’s global impact and public perception, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and industry leadership. Inspired by the brand’s 117-year-old logo, originally hand-painted by an employee and celebrated as a pioneer in design circles (“SKF’s logo – a milestone in commercial design”), the refreshed brand identity further highlights SKF’s innovative heritage with a great emphasis on movement.

“We were struck by how SKF’s 1908 logo felt both modern and progressive. Its magnetism feels as visionary today as a century ago. Rather than create something new, we optimized it for the digital age—preserving its character while expanding it into a complete typeface. The result is an identity that reflects SKF’s renewed image while ensuring its heritage and strong personality will continue to thrive,” says Martin Andersson, Design Director at NORD ID.

The new identity immediately created excitement in the design/business/industry-communities after being launched during 2025.

“The updated brand reflects the business SKF has become, helping the company to further stand out in the industry, attract more customers, and drive profitable growth. From a business perspective, we are building favourability among current and potential customers, employees, investors, partners, and beyond,” says Per Nilsson, Director Group Communication, SKF.

The award ceremony takes place on November 7th later this year at the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Germany.

About the Red Dot Design Award:

To appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the award breaks down into three disciplines: the Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. Each competition is organised once every year.

The ZT82J was procured by Hire Safe Solutions, one of the UK’s leading access equipment rental companies. Known for strict safety standards and advanced equipment, the company recently took delivery of Zoomlion’s ZT72J model, making this its second acquisition of a Zoomlion ultra-high aerial work platform within two months. This decision reflects the trust that global partners place in Zoomlion’s quality, components, and service, which consistently align with the expectations of customers worldwide.

As Zoomlion’s latest breakthrough following its 68-meter and 72-meter models, the ZT82J redefines the global height record for straight boom aerial work platforms. It delivers a maximum outreach of 34.1 meters and addresses the industry’s challenges in construction areas, including wide spans, complex working conditions, precise positioning, and limited space. The ZT82J incorporates Zoomlion’s proprietary polygonal boom design, which reduces weight while improving stiffness, minimizes lateral deformation, and enhances stability. It combines off-road adaptability with maneuverability in confined spaces, while 21 advanced safety technologies provide real-time monitoring to ensure operations are safer and more efficient.

By introducing equipment capable of operating beyond 80 meters, Zoomlion has filled a critical gap in the global aerial work platform market. Zoomlion’s intelligent access equipment portfolio now ranges from 6 to 95 meters, representing the industry’s most comprehensive range. Its equipment is used in more than 100 countries and has set multiple national and regional height records, reflecting the company’s ongoing contributions to advancing global construction and industrial efficiency.

The ZT82J is recognized for combining cutting-edge technology with robust design, bringing new levels of safety, performance, and reliability to clients. Its delivery further demonstrates Zoomlion’s commitment to raising industry standards and supporting Europe’s infrastructure and energy development with greater efficiency and safety.

Gogolook Releases the World’s First Global Anti-Scam Impact Report

TAIPEI, Aug. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — As generative AI rises and transnational criminal groups become increasingly specialized, scam has emerged as one of the most significant threats. Today (21), Gogolook (TWSE: 6902), a TrustTech company, released the world’s first Anti-Scam Impact Report, combining scam prevention efforts with the latest ESG and SDGs trends. The report compiles over 35 cross-border, cross-industry case studies to help governments, businesses, investors, and non-profits stay ahead of developments in the global anti-scam landscape.

Gogolook Releases the World’s First Global Anti-Scam Impact Report
Gogolook Releases the World’s First Global Anti-Scam Impact Report

Corporate Action on Scam Prevention Draws ESG and Impact Investors’ Attention

According to the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), half of the global population encounters at least one scam attempt per week, leading to losses equivalent to 1% of global GDP (USD 100 billion). The UK government has even reported that nearly 20% of scam victims develop depression and officially elevated the scam to a national security threat in 2023.

As scams increasingly endanger public well-being, the anti-scam sector is gaining traction among ESG and impact investors, with more and more companies incorporating scam prevention initiatives into their sustainability reports, showcasing transparent governance and corporate responsibility.

From an ESG perspective, scam operations consume vast environmental resources, including server farms, robocalls, mass SMS phishing, and crypto-based money laundering, highlighting their environmental impact (E). The issue also intersects deeply with social (S) and governance (G) dimensions: socially, companies must build digital resilience and promote media literacy through education and anti-scam tools; in governance, organizations are expected to implement comprehensive cybersecurity frameworks and anti-scam workflows to mitigate legal and reputational risks for themselves and their customers.

Scam prevention also aligns closely with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) are also highly relevant to broader scam prevention efforts.

Jackie Cheng, Gogolook Co-founder and Chairman, said:

“Scam prevention is not a drill, it’s a real fight,” said Jackie, “Since our founding over a decade ago, we’ve focused on building advanced anti-scam technologies and a strong business moat that has earned the trust of users, enterprises, and governments. This report reaffirms Gogolook’s core values within the ESG framework, highlights real-world applications of our solutions across different countries, and showcases innovative approaches to scam education. These efforts not only shape the future of the industry but also influence policymaking and legislative agendas globally, all while providing real protection to people.”

“Scams may never completely disappear, it’s part of human nature. But Gogolook will continue to drive impact globally and show the world what Taiwan’s AI and software technologies can achieve.”

Jorij Abraham, Managing Director of the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), added:

“Fighting scam requires collaboration and support from all sides. We rely on companies to contribute funding, research, and technology to bring anti-scam solutions to life. When businesses are recognized or rewarded for their efforts in scam prevention, it accelerates the positive impact of the entire industry. As a foundation member of GASA, Gogolook is a prime example of how AI technology can be harnessed to prevent scams effectively.”

Chia-Kai Hou, Vice President of Social Impact and Sustainable Innovation Services at KPMG, commented:

“While traditional ESG reports focus on minimizing harm to the environment and society, impact reports go a step further by highlighting how an organization actively creates positive change, through its culture, products, and sustainable initiatives. Gogolook’s release of an Anti-Scam Impact Report is a strong example of this. It reflects a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement and helps raise awareness about the real-world value of scam prevention technologies, as well as Taiwan’s growing role in the global fight against scam.”

What is the Ramsar Convention?

The Ramsar Convention is an international agreement adopted in Ramsar, Iran, in 1971, aiming to conserve wetlands and waterfowl habitats. In order to balance conservation with the lives and livelihoods of local people, it champions “wise use” of wetlands, valuing exchange, nurturing relevant skill sets, education, participation, and raising awareness. Lake Inawashiro was recognized for its connection with local ecosystems and its value as a migration spot for waterfowl, which led to its registration.

Lake Inawashiro’s traits

Lake Inawashiro is the 4th largest lake in Japan, and with its rich aquatic habitat, it is known as home to many wild birds and aquatic plants.

Shallows are particularly widespread on the northern shore, and the lake’s wide area and significant depth lead to the water temperature decreasing less in winter, which in turn means the lake does not freeze. Due to this, it is a valuable spot for ducks and swans to winter. Further, Lake Inawashiro and its surroundings are home to 197 different species of fauna, including 111 species of birds.

As for flora, over 100 species of aquatic plants grow here, and it is also the largest national habitat for fringed water lilies. A total of 705 species of ground plants have been confirmed on the lake’s shores, making this an important location for conserving biodiversity in the region.

The lake water is used for hydroelectric power, irrigation, and supplying both Aizuwakamatsu City and Koriyama City with water. Additionally, the inflowing rivers create multiple sand beaches near the river mouths, creating the distinctive “hakusha seisho” (white beach, green pine trees) vistas represented by Tenjinhama Beach and others. This beautiful natural view makes it one of Fukushima Prefecture’s more major tourism destinations, as well as a site for swimming in the lake and other water-related activities. The lakeside is used as a camping site and also contributes greatly to developing the regional economy.

Future plans

With registration under the Ramsar Convention completed, the prefectural government and local municipalities anticipate not only growing awareness about the conservation of Lake Inawashiro’s environment, but an increase in visitors due to greater international renown, as well as bringing visitors to the lake for educational purposes, both as part of schooling and beyond it. Going forward, the prefectural government will join forces with local municipalities and various relevant groups to ensure that Lake Inawashiro’s beauty and bounty are preserved for the future, treating the lake as the priceless prefectural treasure that it is.
