  • Singapore and Thailand trail regional peers in projected salary increases
  • Businesses anticipate stable or slightly increased workforce numbers

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 8 October 2025 – Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, has announced the findings from its 2025 Salary Increase and Turnover Study for southeast Asia (SEA). The study, conducted from July to September 2025, analysed the salary adjustments and employee turnover rates of more than 700 businesses across Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The survey found that overall, the budgeted salary increases for SEA are projected at 5.3 percent for 2026.

Country Salary Increase 2024 (%) Salary Increase 2025 (%) Projected (Budgeted) Salary Increase 2026 (%) Attrition in 2023 (%) Attrition in 2024 (%) Attrition in 2025 (%)
Overall 5.1 5.4 5.3 15.5 17.4 17.5
Indonesia 5.7 5.7 5.9 15.1 20.8 15.0
Malaysia 4.9 4.8 4.8 16.2 15.9 18.2
Philippines 5.4 5.3 5.2 17.5 19.1 20.0
Singapore 4.2 4.3 4.3 16.5 16.7 19.3
Thailand 4.4 4.6 4.7 14.0 16.6 17.2
Vietnam 6.4 7.7 7.1 13.8 15.5 15.0

When salaries are analysed across industries by country, the life sciences and medical devices industry is expected to have the highest increase in Singapore (4.6 percent), while technology leads in Vietnam (7.1 percent) and Indonesia (5.9 percent). The consulting, business and community services industry leads in Malaysia at 4.8 percent.

Rahul Chawla, partner and head of Talent Solutions for southeast Asia at Aon, emphasized the dual priorities facing organisations today, “As capital deployment in technology and strategic investments accelerate across southeast Asia, organisations are increasingly focused on retaining top talent and highly skilled employees. Balancing rising compensation costs with the need for agility is key. The most successful firms are leveraging real-time market data and total rewards strategies to stay ahead.”

Attrition rates for all countries in the region were in double digits. The Philippines and Singapore are projected to have the highest turnover rates at 20.0 percent and 19.3 percent, respectively, followed by Malaysia at 18.2 percent. Attrition rates also vary across industries, with consulting, business and community services highest at 22.6 percent followed by retail at 21.6 percent and manufacturing at 17.5 percent.

The study revealed that 42 percent of businesses report challenges in hiring or retaining employees. Additionally, 63 percent are currently facing skills gap challenges, while 12 percent anticipate short-term gaps and 16 percent foresee longer-term gaps. Roles in information technology, engineering and sales remain the hardest to fill, while new hire premiums range between 1.3 to 8.2 percent, lower than the previous year, reflecting higher cost controls.

The most in-demand “hot jobs” include sales (24 percent), information technology (24 percent), artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) (21 percent), cybersecurity (20 percent) and engineering (19 percent), reflecting a sharp pivot toward digital and risk-focused capabilities. This surge in demand, especially for AI/ML and cybersecurity signals that firms are prioritising sustained compensation strategies to secure future-critical skills in an increasingly competitive market.

Evon Lock, head of data solutions for southeast Asia at Aon, said, “Despite the hiring and retention pressures, most organisations remain cautiously optimistic, planning to maintain or modestly grow their workforce. To navigate an uncertain business landscape, firms are prioritising productivity gains, streamlining management layers and adopting targeted hiring strategies and salary increases to engage top performers and build resilient, future-ready teams.”

GROWTHDAY Singapore 2025 Concludes Successfully, Uniting Web3 Leaders for Growth

SINGAPORE, Oct. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The inaugural GROWTHDAY Singapore 2025, hosted by global intelligent marketing service brand XAD.IO, concluded on a high note in Singapore. Under the theme “GROW THE WEB3 FUTURE WITH US”, the event explored the pathways from Web2 to Web3, focusing on user acquisition, market expansion, and operational efficiency. It provided a high-level platform for strategic dialogue, resource sharing, and global ecosystem collaboration, attracting leading Web3 practitioners, technology innovators, and business executives from around the world to define a new growth paradigm.

Strategic Conversations Set the Agenda for Growth

The forum opened with a welcome address from Janice Li, Account Manager at XAD.IO, who greeted guests from across the globe and officially kicked off the day’s programme. She shared XAD.IO’s vision — “Make Web3 Matter for All Through Marketing” — emphasising the company’s mission to bridge advertisers and media, and to help clients achieve measurable, meaningful, and scalable growth under a framework of compliance and efficiency. Her remarks set a collaborative and forward-looking tone for the conference, underscoring its role as a key milestone in building industry consensus and fostering practical partnerships.

A series of keynote speeches and panel discussions followed, each centring on “growth” as the overarching theme and offering fresh perspectives from multiple angles. The Web3 industry is undergoing a pivotal shift — from the pursuit of sheer traffic to the cultivation of lasting value. As the market matures, traditional approaches to rapid user acquisition are losing momentum. The focus is now firmly on user quality, retention and lifetime value. Against this backdrop, data-driven strategies for sustainable growth have become an urgent imperative. The first keynote of the day explored this trend in depth, revealing that investor decision-making in Web3 has grown dramatically more complex: the number of touchpoints has surged from roughly 7,000 in 2019 to over 73,000 in 2024. In response, leading global advertising platforms are leveraging AI-powered solutions such as Performance Max, together with ecosystems that reach billions of users, to identify and target high-value audiences — empowering Web3 businesses to scale sustainably. The presentation further highlighted that high-quality first-party data and robust local compliance frameworks are foundational to sustainable user acquisition.

As Web3 moves steadily towards greater regulatory alignment, the ability of crypto trading platforms to balance compliance with innovation is emerging as a key driver of growth. Gate, one of the industry’s most established exchanges, continues to pioneer new products and ecosystem initiatives built on a strong foundation of regulatory responsibility and deep technical expertise. In his keynote “Crypto and Marketing Growth,” Gate CBO Kevin Lee outlined three major growth strategies. First, Gate Alpha combines the listing speed of decentralised exchanges (DEXs) with the security and ease of use of centralised exchanges (CEXs), meeting user demand for trading new assets such as meme coins. Second, Gate Travel enables users to book flights, hotels and more directly with their crypto assets, linking digital assets with real-world spending. Finally, Lee introduced GUSD, an innovative principal-protected structured product that offers stable returns while functioning as a stablecoin — combining price stability with yield and providing users with new asset management options. Kevin concluded by noting that real growth stems from challenging conventions and solving user pain points through product innovation.

As an integrated marketing service provider focused exclusively on the Web3 space, XAD.IO is committed to helping clients drive comprehensive growth — from user acquisition and revenue generation to ROI improvement — through end-to-end marketing solutions that combine brand building with performance, as well as cost-efficient services powered by AI, cloud and data. The company’s mission is to help Web3 expand beyond its current niche and evolve into the next-generation internet with a user base in the billions. In a market that is shifting from incremental growth to fierce stock competition, precision marketing built on deep insights is emerging as the key to breaking through. In his keynote speech, “XAD.IO’s Exploration of Web3 Marketing,” XAD.IO founder Wayne stressed that applying mature Web2 marketing methodologies to Web3 will be essential to driving large-scale adoption. He pointed out that current marketing budgets remain overly concentrated on Web3-native channels, leading to escalating costs and diminishing returns. To address this, XAD.IO has introduced an integrated “Brand + Performance + Web3 Native” marketing framework, alongside XAD MIX, a new AI-powered programmatic advertising infrastructure. XAD MIX is designed to redefine ad delivery models and revenue distribution by enabling users’ on-chain behaviours and data to generate value — while safeguarding privacy — and rewarding them in USDT. This approach aims to incentivise a wider pool of Web2 users to enter the Web3 ecosystem.

As the AI revolution continues to reshape industries, cloud infrastructure is emerging as a new growth engine for Web3. Rapid advances in artificial intelligence are placing ever greater demands on computing power, and hybrid cloud architectures are becoming a critical foundation for Web3 innovation. In his keynote “Multi-Cloud Architecture: An Irreversible Future,” Bill Zhang, General Manager of Cycor, noted that no single cloud provider can deliver optimal performance across functionality, geographical coverage and quality. As a result, adopting a multi-cloud strategy is now an inevitable trend. However, this approach also brings challenges — from complex procurement processes to difficulties in securing discounts without taking on additional risk. To tackle these issues, Cycor positions itself as the “Walmart of Cloud Services,” offering a unified, intelligent management platform that simplifies procurement and enables clients to secure better pricing and greater flexibility — all without increasing risk.

As AI and Web3 increasingly converge, enterprises face unprecedented demands on their infrastructure — meeting AI’s enormous computational requirements, adhering to stringent standards for data sovereignty and privacy in Web3 applications, and navigating the compliance challenges of global deployment. Against this backdrop, a roundtable discussion on “Opportunities and Challenges of Cloud Infrastructure in the AI Era” was co-hosted by Cycor CEO and XAD.IO Founder Wayne. The panel included Kenneth Siow, Regional Director (Southeast Asia) and General Manager (Singapore) of Tencent Cloud International, and Dr. Ming Liang, CTO of Huawei Cloud Singapore. The discussion explored topics such as Web3 client support, the integration of AI and cloud infrastructure, security and compliance, and cost optimisation in the AI era. Huawei Cloud established a dedicated Web3 team three years ago, offering node services, testing environments, and a high-compliance Singapore data centre. Tencent Cloud leveraged its extensive consumer experience to provide Web3 clients with mature solutions for GameFi, SocialFi, KYC, and risk control. On the security front, panellists agreed that AI can enhance efficiency in fraud prevention, anti-money laundering, smart contract auditing, and compliance document analysis. Regarding cost management, both parties advised startups to embrace multi-cloud strategies and optimise across personnel, processes, and platforms, while prioritising security and compliance from day one.

As Web3 applications expand, security has evolved from a purely technical issue to a core factor shaping industry confidence. In this context, Michael Chue, General Manager of Google Security, delivered a keynote titled “Breach Is Inevitable, but the Consequence Can Be Avoided.” Speaking from a strategic perspective, Chue emphasised that building proactive defence systems and resilient response mechanisms is essential for sustainable business development. While cyber intrusions are unavoidable, their severe consequences can be mitigated through timely intervention. He highlighted the importance of exploiting the time window between an intrusion and actual damage, removing threats through rapid detection and response. Chue also detailed Google’s unified security platform centred on Gemini AI, which integrates threat intelligence and AI capabilities to efficiently monitor suspicious activity at both network and endpoint levels.

In a fireside chat titled “Robust Incident Response Planning,” Michael Chue engaged in an in-depth discussion with UXLINK CEO Mr. Rolland Safort Ntague, hosted by James Hope, Global Business Manager of XAD.IO. As a key builder of Web3 infrastructure, UXLINK has gained unique insights through its hands-on experience managing complex security challenges. The conversation covered multiple dimensions, including real-time response, transparent communication, and post-incident reinforcement. Rolland shared UXLINK’s approach to handling security incidents, emphasising the importance of protecting remaining assets immediately, collaborating with law enforcement, and maintaining a high level of transparency with the community. Drawing on Google’s experience, Michael highlighted the necessity of having a crisis communication plan and recommended that companies publish detailed post-incident reports. Such measures not only help restore community trust but also contribute to raising security standards across the industry.

Industry Leaders Forge Connections for Future Collaboration

Beyond the main forum, the carefully designed high-level networking sessions provided a crucial platform for driving real-world collaborations. The Growth Club, meticulously designed and limited to 721 seats, brought together top-tier exchanges, cloud providers, and technology giants, creating a relaxed yet highly effective environment for business discussions. Within this setting, industry leaders engaged in in-depth conversations on market expansion, technology integration, and capital collaboration, resulting in several preliminary partnership intentions.

The VIP HOUSE 42 closed-door forum offered an even more forward-looking platform, inviting a select group of 42 global C-level executives. Designed to consolidate elite resources, the forum aimed to explore the “ultimate answers” to industry growth. Participants not only reached key consensus on pressing industry challenges but also advanced multiple strategic collaborations, achieving precise alignment of top-tier resources and value co-creation, and laying a solid foundation for future industry cooperation.

Universal Studios Night: A Global Web3 Networking Finale

As the daytime agenda concluded, a unique networking experience unfolded at Universal Studios Singapore. The After Party, a highlight of the conference, offered participants an immersive social setting. Over two thousand industry professionals continued the day’s in-depth discussions in a relaxed and open atmosphere, exploring potential collaborations and elevating the conference’s exchange to new heights. The event not only showcased the vibrancy and innovative spirit of the Web3 industry but also provided a memorable platform for global connections, reflecting the conference’s commitment to fostering meaningful cooperation.

The successful hosting of GROWTHDAY Singapore 2025 marks a significant step forward for the Web3 industry in its pursuit of high-quality growth. The conference was not only an intellectual showcase but also a pivotal hub for advancing global collaboration within the Web3 ecosystem. Through insightful sessions, high-level networking, and the extensive interactions at the After Party, XAD.IO demonstrated its comprehensive expertise and commitment to driving growth in Web3. The conclusion of the inaugural GROWTHDAY is not an endpoint but the beginning of the next growth journey. XAD.IO will continue to place “growth” at the core, establishing GROWTHDAY as an annual gathering that unites global Web3 innovators. We sincerely look forward to welcoming more industry partners at the next edition, jointly unlocking new growth opportunities, expanding growth frontiers, and co-creating a thriving growth ecosystem, further deepening and strengthening the global Web3 value network.

SEA Games Mascot Redesign Sparks Debate Over National Identity

SEA Games 2025 Thailand.

The redesign of the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2025 mascot has stirred debate in Thailand, as organizers replaced the original seven colorful characters with two new figures featuring the colors of the Thai national flag.

Originally unveiled earlier this year, the first iteration of the mascots, known as The Sans, drew inspiration from traditional Thai weaving and basketry.

Designed to symbolize unity, strength, and friendship among Southeast Asian nations, the seven colorful characters represented the days of the week in Thai tradition. Five were designated for the SEA Games and two for the ASEAN Para Games.

Organizers said the original concept was intended to celebrate diversity, inclusivity, and Thailand’s cultural heritage within the ASEAN community.

However, following a change in government, the direction shifted. On 6 October, Minister of Tourism and Sports Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn announced a new approach, calling for mascots that are “memorable, simple, accessible, and distinctly Thai.”

In line with this new vision, The Sans were redesigned into two streamlined mascots, one for the SEA Games and one for the ASEAN Para Games, featuring the red, white, and blue of the Thai flag.

“The Sans will continue to represent unity and friendship through sports, but with a design that embodies Thai identity in a way that’s easier to recognize globally,” said Kongsak Yodmanee, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, speaking with Thai media.

The new mascots will be used in medal ceremonies and major events, while the original seven-color versions will still appear on souvenirs and promotional materials.

Thailand will host the 33rd SEA Games from 9 to 20 December, followed by the 13th ASEAN Para Games from 20 to 26 January 2026. Events will take place across Bangkok, Chonburi, and Songkhla.

Siemens Healthineers and National University Hospital Partner on Research to Advance Non-Invasive Liver Disease Diagnostics

  • Partnership will evaluate advanced ultrasound technologies to improve early detection and monitoring of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease
  • Advancing ultrasound technologies that are safer, more accessible alternatives to invasive diagnostic procedures
  • Research led by globally respected hepatologist Associate Professor Dan Yock Young

SINGAPORE, Oct. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Siemens Healthineers and the National University Hospital (NUH) Singapore have announced a strategic research collaboration to advance diagnostic solutions for Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), which affects nearly 40% of adults in Singapore — a prevalence that is higher than the global average of 30.05%.

MASLD, formerly known as Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), is now the most common cause of chronic liver disease worldwide. The elevated burden in Singapore reflects rising levels of obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and associated metabolic conditions – a serious trend that demands a more efficient, patient-friendly approach to liver care.

The research initiative will be led by Associate Professor Dan Yock Young, Senior Consultant, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine at NUH, and Associate Professor, Department of Medicine at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. A globally respected hepatologist, his pioneering contributions to liver disease research have set international benchmarks. His leadership lends both clinical excellence and a global perspective to the project.

The collaborative study will evaluate Siemens Healthineers’ cutting-edge ultrasound technologies: Ultrasound-Derived Fat Fraction (UDFF) and Auto Point Shear Wave Elastography (Auto pSWE). These tools enable physicians to non-invasively measure both liver fat and stiffness in a single, streamlined session, offering safer and more cost-effective alternatives to MRI scans and invasive biopsies. Early detection, more precise monitoring, and timely intervention could redefine the liver care pathway across the region.

“Together with NUH, led by Associate Professor Dan Yock Young, we will study how advanced ultrasound technologies can transform liver care by offering a cost-effective alternative to invasive biopsy or high-cost imaging,” said Vy Tran, President Asia-Pacific Japan, Siemens Healthineers. “Our aim is to make ultrasound technologies accessible not only in tertiary hospitals but also at the polyclinic level. If we can embed these solutions into the liver care pathway, we can bring earlier detection, better monitoring and timely interventions to the people who need it. With this research collaboration, we hope to create new opportunities to scale the adoption of ultrasound technologies and improve clinical outcomes for liver patients across the Asia Pacific region.”

“This collaboration represents an important step forward in addressing MASLD, which is fast emerging as a major health burden in Singapore,” said Associate Professor Dan Yock Young. “At NUH, we combine deep clinical expertise in liver and metabolic health, backed by strong translational research. By working with partners such as Siemens Healthineers, we are well positioned to pioneer new approaches to detect, treat and prevent the disease, thereby helping more patients live healthier lives.”

The initiative is part of the upcoming National University Centre for Digestive Health, set to open in January 2026, which aims to enhance patient access to cutting-edge diagnostic innovations.

“With nearly 40% of adults in Singapore affected, fatty liver disease is a silent epidemic we can no longer ignore. This collaboration reflects our shared responsibility to change that story. By bringing ultrasound innovation to the frontlines of care, we can empower physicians with better tools and offer patients not just accurate diagnostics, but hope for a healthier future,” said Chaitanya Mehrotra, Head of Ultrasound, Asia Pacific, Siemens Healthineers.

This partnership leverages NUH’s clinical expertise alongside Siemens Healthineers’ technological innovation to pioneer breakthroughs in healthcare for everyone, everywhere, sustainably, while advancing medical innovation and delivering excellence in patient care.

UPS OPENS NEW PACKAGE CENTRE, ENHANCES DELIVERY SERVICES IN PENANG

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Global logistics leader UPS (NYSE: UPS) has opened a new package centre in Penang in a move that enhances services for its customers across the city.

The company has also increased the size of its existing hub at Penang Airport to boost processing capacity and provide businesses in Penang with even more access to the global UPS network.

The new 20,000 sq ft. centre is located in Penang Science Park North, an area home to multiple industrial parks and popular with businesses in the high tech and manufacturing sectors.

UPS’s enhanced services means pickup times for exports of the company’s Express and Worldwide Express Freight shipments for businesses in eight areas – including Butterworth, Batu Kawan and Bayan Lepas – are extended by up to two hours, giving customers more time to prepare outbound shipments. Deliveries to businesses in Batu Kawan, Perai, Penang and Kulim, Kedah will now also be delivered earlier.

“When we talk to our customers, what many of them ask for is more hours in a day. Extending pickup times effectively gives them extra time to receive and ship more orders every day. Our enhanced airport hub then allows us to process these shipments efficiently when they arrive or leave on one of the 11 weekly UPS flights we have serving Penang,” said Ingrid Sidiadinoto, senior managing director of UPS Malaysia, at an event commemorating the opening of the new centre.

“Businesses all over the world are looking to build more resilience into supply chains. Malaysia is in a good position to capitalise on recent trade lane shifts, and Penang is central to that. We’re here to help our customers make the most of the opportunities available to them. We’re excited about the future growth potential for businesses in Penang,” Sidiadinoto added.

Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), welcomed the development. “This investment by UPS comes at a crucial moment as businesses adapt to shifting global trade patterns and supply chain realignments. The new package centre in Penang, coupled with the expanded airport hub, introduces advanced automation and smarter warehousing processes that will enhance resilience and efficiency for Malaysian companies competing in time-critical sectors such as semiconductors and electronics.”

“At MIDA, we are committed to accelerating the adoption of Smart Warehousing and automation across the logistics sector. UPS’s continued confidence in Malaysia reinforces our efforts to build a more agile supply chain ecosystem that positions the country as a preferred hub for high-value global investments,” he added.

This is the latest in a series of investments by UPS in its Malaysia network. In May 2025, the company launched a new service in Johor that provides businesses across the state next-day delivery to and from countries across Asia Pacific. Deliveries to and from Europe and the U.S. will arrive in as little as two business days. This follows an earlier service enhancement in 2024 that enabled deliveries to and from over 50 countries across the Americas to be completed in as little as two business days.
