ARMY dances along on Twitter with 68M Tweets as BTS returns to the live stage in LA

The highly-anticipated ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA’ concert was celebrated by #KpopTwitter globally

LOS ANGELES, US – Media OutReach – 3 December 2021 – 21st century pop icons BTS’ ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA’ tour was celebrated by fans all over the world with a whopping 68M Tweets globally throughout the tour from November 27th to December 2nd. Whether they were at the concert or not, fans came to Twitter and enjoyed the act’s first face-to-face concert since 2019, using hashtags like #PTD_ON_STAGE_LA, #Stage_For_ARMY, #BTS, #방탄소년단, #BTSARMY.

BTS Permission to Dance on Stage Twitter global trends map

On the 27th and 28th November, and 1st and 2nd December, tens of thousands of lucky fans got to see BTS perform live at the ‘BTS PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – LA’ tour at LA’s SoFi Stadium while plenty more from all over the world tuned in to the moment on Twitter.

A truly unforgettable concert, many fans gathered on Twitter to rejoice and celebrate their favourite moments both in the lead-up to the performance, and after the event. For example, we saw conversation volume peaks when Jimin Tweeted just before the first concert, when Jin and RM Tweeted after the first concert, and when BTS Tweeted their photo with Halsey who attended the third concert.

Be it to complement virtual or in-person activities, fans everywhere come to Twitter to join in the fun and have conversations about them. So, even though things appear to be slowly returning to normal again and K-pop stars reunite with their fans, Twitter will continue to play an important role to drive conversations and connections within the K-pop community.

For instance, to celebrate ARMY meeting BTS in real-life this time, Twitter launched various activations for fans, including special emojis and a Live Event Page dedicated to curating all the latest action in one place. This ensured that fans were always kept updated on all the happenings and content related to the concert – never missing an important moment.

YeonJeong Kim, Head of Global K-pop Partnerships at Twitter, said, “During the difficult times when face-to-face events such as concerts were cancelled, Twitter is where fans go to talk about what’s happening, as well as stay connected with their artists. While it has been more than two years since their last real-life concert, BTS and ARMY have stayed close on Twitter and their relationship is stronger than ever, such as during the band’s single ‘Butter’ earlier this year where we saw over 300 million related Tweets in just one month. On the first day of the tour, more than 15 million Tweets were generated, far exceeding the average 10 million Tweets per day at the time of the release of Butter in May. As live concerts begin again, Tweets from fans are expected to continue to increase.”

HKQAA Symposium Sustainable Finance and Climate Resilience • 2021

Announcement of new initiatives to align with Government climate change strategies

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 3 December 2021 – The Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) held the 2021 HKQAA Symposium at the Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong today. The Honourable Mrs Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, officiated at the event. Mr Christopher Hui, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, and Mr Tse Chin Wan, Under Secretary for the Environment, were special guests.

International symposium explores visionary insights

In this flagship international symposium, leaders from the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), China National Institute of Standardization, International Financial Corporation, as well as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Financial Services Development Council and other banking institutions in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, shared insights into the latest trends in sustainable financing and climate resilience. The hybrid event attracted more than 600 online and offline participants from government departments, regulatory organisations, Chinese and foreign banking and financial institutions, foreign consulates, business associations, academic institutions and green groups, among others.

New initiatives for Net-Zero, climate risk management and TCFD reporting

In recent years, HKQAA has supported Hong Kong’s sustainable economic development by developing new services. One significant contribution is the Green and Sustainable Finance Certification Scheme. Up to now, over 35 billion US dollars’ worth of green and sustainable finance instruments have been certified. During the Symposium, HKQAA announced a series of new initiatives to align with the Government’s climate change strategies. They include the Net-Zero Certificate, the Climate Risk Management Index, the TCFD Reporting Index, as well as training and registration services for green and sustainable finance talent.

Ir C S Ho, Chairman of the HKQAA, said, “These new services will be rolled out shortly to assist financial institutions and organisations to prepare for regulatory requirement fulfilment, and help listed companies, SMEs and other kinds of organisations demonstrate their progress and achievements in reducing carbon emissions and addressing climate risks.”

“We also plan to give back to society by establishing a user-friendly knowledge sharing platform online, namely the ‘LightShare’. The project will facilitate the capacity building of finance and other sectors to promote sustainable finance, TCFD reporting and carbon emission and climate risk management, and bolster COVID resilience and recovery in our city” said Ir Ho.

Recognition ceremony for green and sustainable finance issuers and facilitators

The Hong Kong Green and Sustainable Finance Awards 2021 ceremony was held at the Symposium. The Awards recognise the efforts and contributions of organisations, leaders and strategists to promoting the issuance of green and sustainable financial instruments in Hong Kong. Thirty-six organisations were recognised, including banking and financial institutions and corporations from Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas markets. Thirty-eight leaders and 67 strategists were given awards.

Dr Michael Lam, Chief Executive Officer of HKQAA, said, “I believe the good practices of awarded companies are inspiring more industry members to make a greater contribution to environmental protection and social development, thereby building a more resilient and sustainable world.”

NDC Invigorates Ecosystem for Taiwanese EdTech Startups, Creates Engine for Future Growth

TAIPEI, TAIWAN – Media OutReach – 3 December 2021 – In 2021, investment in education around the world doubled. According to the “2021 Taiwan Startup Ecosystem Report” published by global accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in November, the number one keyword for enterprise startups is education technology, or “edtech”. More than 40% of startups surveyed responded that they were solely focused on edtech.

2021 International Conference on Education Innovation

In the era of artificial intelligence, 5G communications, and blockchains, edtech has become the hot new trend that will revolutionize education; because creating a new education system is key to nurturing tomorrow’s talented minds. Ever since it spearheaded the Asia Silicon Valley Development Plan (ASVDP) and created the national startup brand “Startup Island Taiwan” in 2016, the National Development Council (NDC) has set its eye on invigorating Taiwan’s startup ecosystem. Its contributions to the edtech startup scene in Taiwan include the sponsorship of the plan to “Accelerate Taiwan’s Education Startups on the World Stage” for two consecutive years, headed by Taiwan’s foremost parenting and education brand CommonWealth Education Media and Publishing, and investment in Taiwan’s online learning startups PaGamO and Hahow.

The plan to “Accelerate Taiwan’s Education Startups on the World Stage” involves the selection of twenty promising Taiwanese edtech startups and providing them with the critical resources they need to succeed, as well as investment in CommonWealth Education Media and Publishing’s annual branding extravaganza, the “International Conference on Education Innovation”, for more than ten years. This year’s “International Conference on Education Innovation” revolves around the theme of “Sustainability X Education”. Over 125,000 participants attended the hybrid online and offline forum. Nearly fifty speakers, representing the business and education sectors, were invited from the United States, the United Kingdom, Finland, and Taiwan. Notable guests included Taiwan’s former vice president Chen Chien-jen; Rob Riordan, co-founder of Silicon Valley’s incredibly popular High Tech High; and Abner Chao, Founder and CEO of AmaizingTalker, a Taiwanese online learning startup that boasts an annual revenue of one billion Taiwan dollars and continues to double its value every year.

The National Development Council will continue to be the driving force behind Taiwan’s edtech startups. It will keep working with private platforms to create digital content and services, as well as propel digital education in middle schools, build smart classrooms, and provide tablet computers for schoolchildren in remote areas. It will also improve 5G communications integration through smart education, train talent in the digital era, and nurture bilingual skills. Ultimately, its aim is to introduce a greater number of rapidly growing Taiwanese startups to the world stage, so the international community can witness and benefit from Taiwan’s creative energy.
