It’s all in the mix, Sennheiser launches HD 400 PRO studio headphones

WEDEMARK, GERMANY – Media OutReach – 3 December 2021 – Audio specialist Sennheiser launches a new pair of professional headphones for mixing, editing, and mastering. The HD 400 PRO studio reference headphones are an ideal companion for creators seeking natural and precise sound reproduction to accurately assess their audio mixes. To ease long sessions, the HD 400 PRO features a comfortable and lightweight open-back design fitted with soft velour ear pads. The unit includes both coiled and straight detachable cables, allowing the headphones to adapt to different use preferences.

“We are happy to introduce the first open studio headphones in Sennheiser’s PRO line,” commented Gunnar Dirks, Product Manager, Professional Audio. “When editing and mixing, you need detail and honesty, and this is what the HD 400 PRO will give you. Thanks to their linear, high-resolution reproduction, these headphones are a reliable reference to create outstanding audio mixes.”

Designed for accuracy

The HD 400 PRO features a wide frequency response of 6 to 38,000 hertz to give music producers the full account of their mix. The Sennheiser-developed 120-ohm transducers include a diaphragm made from a special polymer blend, which together with powerful driver magnets yields deeper, yet totally clear and well-defined bass. Distortion is below 0.05% (measured at 1 kHz, 90 dB SPL).

The HD 400 PRO accurately reproduces audio beyond the audible frequency range, giving you unbridled access to nuanced harmonics and ambiance in your music, while at the same time revealing a bold, articulate low-end.

The HD 400 PRO studio headphones help you to reveal all the tiny details in your music

Designed for spaciousness

The headphone transducers of the HD 400 PRO sit at a slight angle, carefully recreating the optimum triangular listening position you would place yourself in when listening to monitor loudspeakers in a recording studio. In addition, the open-back design of the HD 400 PRO ensures a natural propagation of sound, unimpeded by the acoustic structures required in closed-back designs. Both aspects create a wide and spacious soundstage, neutral and transparent, which enables audio producers to work confidently knowing that their final mix transfers accurately to listeners.

Designed for comfort

The HD 400 PRO headphones feature high comfort that prolongs creativity. A carefully engineered ultra-light frame positions the earcups in place, gently hugging the ears with minimal pressure. Soft velour earpads allow users to focus on projects for hours on end, while the open, circumaural design offers sufficient ventilation for ears to keep their cool, even during long mixing sessions.

The HD 400 PRO is available now and retails at HKD 1749 (MSRP). The headphones come with a 3-meter coiled cable and a 1.8-meter straight cable, both fitted with a 3.5 mm (1/8″) jack plug for portable sources. A 6.3 mm (1/4″) adapter is included, ensuring that the HD 400 PRO connects to your mixing desk or audio interface.

TÜV Rheinland Hosts Webinar Bringing Together Stakeholders to Address the Textile Microplastics Challenge

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach – 3 December 2021 – On 16 November, the international independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization TÜV Rheinland organized this webinar with the support from Invest Hong Kong, and German Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong (GCC) to address the microplastics challenge along the global textile and garment supply chain.

Link to Youtube video

Among the webinar speakers were:

Rakesh Vazirani, Head of Sustainability Services, Business Stream Products, TÜV Rheinland together with

Emily Choi, Senior Manager of Consumer Products, Invest Hong Kong,

Dr. Lei YAO (Gloria), Director of Project Development, The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA),

Dr. Frank Lam, Assistant Professor of Engineering Education, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST),

Dr. Cindy Lam, Lecturer, Department of Ocean Science, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and

Gundolf Klaehn, Head of Environmental Component, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

Mr. Bjoern Lindner, President of the GCC, stated in the opening speech that the German business community has long placed significant emphasis on sustainability and protection of our natural world at its core. One-third of the GCC members come from the supply chain industry, and are happy to see how all stakeholders work together to address the microplastics issue.

TÜV Rheinland shared background and summaries on its textiles-microplastics research/initiatives and introduced the concept of linking data about microplastics shedding at the pre-consumer stage, the fabric composition/design stage, and what is detected during testing at the garment/fabric level (as per TMC, AATCC methods).

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), 35% of the ocean’s microplastics come from synthetic textiles. Microplastics shedding at the finished product level can be correlated with microplastics shedding at the pre-consumer stage in production processes depending on wet processes, fiber construction depending, fiber composition, etc. The full related data could perhaps tell a story to designers and manufacturers that they be able to configure their production processes in order to eliminate microplastics shedding, so the idea is to combine consumer stage data with pre-consumer stage data.

Dr. Cindy Lam and Dr. Frank Lam from HKUST developed the Smart Fish for real-time detection of microplastics in the ocean. The Smart Fish aims to replace lab-based testing for microplastics, which can be used in the future for different scenarios, including the textile industry.

Dr. Gloria Yao from HKRITA spoke about an ongoing project for microplastic fibre separation through sweeping acoustic waves. It expects the project at industrial scale, to agglomerate the filtered microplastic to form a cluster in macroscopic scale to provide convenience for any feasible after-treatment.

Gundolf Klaehn from GIZ introduced the Promoting Sustainability in the Textile and Garment Industry on Asia (FABRIC) program, which supports initiatives and innovation fostering the transitional change of the sector with the focus on reduction of harm to the environment and improving labour and living conditions.

In his closing remarks, KC Lam, Head of Consulate and Chamber Engagement, Invest Hong Kong stated: “We have started to educate the consumer on microplastics. They will soon be demanding better and higher standards for companies to live up to.”  Microplastics have become a plastic pollutant of oceans on a global scale. Shaping solutions will include approaches based on detection and removal, product design and lifecycle thinking, as well as the involvement of key stakeholders.

TÜV Rheinland, as a trusted partner providing a suite of assurance services affecting interactions between people, technology, and the environment, will facilitate the development and implementation of these solutions.

  • Relief for peak season logistics rates with costs up to 50% less than airfreight with similar transit times
  • Vientiane and Kunming are well-positioned as multimodal hubs for China-ASEAN trade

SHANGHAI, CHINA – Media OutReach – 3 December 2021 – DHL Global Forwarding, the leading international freight specialist division of Deutsche Post DHL Group,  is the first international forwarder to launch a two-way rail freight service between Kunming, China and Vientiane, Laos, via the newly opened China-Laos railway. The rail service is first-of-its-kind in the market, shortening transit time between Kunming and Vientiane from two days via road to about  20 – 24 hours.

DHL’s new two-way rail service will cut transit time between Kunming and Vientiane from 2 days to 20-24 hours

Faster, cheaper freight between China and Southeast Asia

Rail-truck solution between China & Southeast Asia: Hubs in Kunming and Vientiane

“The China-Laos Railway is a historic moment for the region. It strategically places Kunming as a hub for the Indochina market as the gateway to ASEAN economies,” said Steve Huang, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding Greater China. “ASEAN has a combined GDP of US$2.55 trillion and is predicted to be the fourth largest single market in the world by 2030. We see a very bright future for trade and economic activity in the region, which will translate to increased demand for logistics.”

“China is ASEAN’s largest trading partner, growing close to 40% year on year. The new rail service connecting China and Laos will transform Laos from a land-locked country to a land-linked hub, creating closer trade linkages between Laos and China, and to all economies in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), including ASEAN. Businesses moving goods between China and ASEAN countries now have a strong viable alternative between air and ocean freight, and can tap further into DHL’s robust road freight and multimodal network in the Southeast Asia region,” Thomas Tieber, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding Southeast Asia said.

Peak season relief: Faster, Cheaper freight from China to ASEAN – Costs up to 50% less than airfreight, with similar or faster transit times
Leveraging the new railway, DHL’s scheduled service runs in both directions between China and ASEAN markets, including Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, providing an attractive, highly cost efficient alternative in a time when logistics costs are at an all time high.

The two-way service combines trucking from all over China to the hub in Kunming, running through the China-Laos railroad, then onward with DHL’s established road network service  and back, with significant cost savings and competitive transit times, providing a viable transportation alternative. Examples of the services include:

  • Chengdu – Bangkok – road/rail services are 78% cheaper and 2 days faster than airfreight
  • Kuala Lumpur – Chengdu – road/rail services are 70% cheaper, same transit time compared to airfreight
  • Shanghai – Singapore – road/rail services are 38% cheaper, 4 days longer compared to airfreight

The brand new China-Laos Railway is one of the six international economic corridors under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The Laos section of the railway is 414-km that connects Kunming (China) to Boten, Laos’ northern border with China, to Vientiane in the south, on its border with Thailand. The route will cut the journey time from Vientiane to the Chinese border to less than four hours, compared to 15 hours by road. At Boten, the railway will connect with the BRI network at Kunming, China, through another 595-km railway link, providing Laos with a land link to global and regional supply chains.

Carousell Partners With NVPC For SG Cares Giving Week For The Third Time, Expanding The Company’s Commitment To Support Communities In Need

Carousell launches charity drive and commits to a quarter of million dollars worth of ad inventory to support non-profit organisations in Singapore

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach – 3 December 2021 – As Singapore’s leading classifieds platform, Carousell today announced two initiatives to support individuals and communities in need, encouraging all to share in the spirit of giving during this festive season: #Blessings campaign and Free Ads for Charities.

As part of these initiatives, Carousell has partnered with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) to support SG Cares Giving Week with its annual #Blessings campaign. This year’s #Blessings campaign will expand its reach to bring greater awareness to the public to support local communities in need. From now to December 31, interested donors can log on to Carousell and browse listings from over 20 charities and non-profit organisations, and give back to those who need it the most by donating essential items such as home appliances, Covid-19 test kits, clothes and food, or even make direct donations to their favourite causes via Carousell Protection. Users can also list their usable items on Carousell under its Free Items category to help other individuals in need.

“The #Blessings campaign is the missing link for charity drives in Singapore to reach out to Singaporeans with ready intent to give away items. #Blessings originally started as a user-led initiative, and has grown into one adopted by our wider Carousell community over the years. With every 1 in 3 Singaporeans using Carousell monthly, we are the perfect platform to connect charities with users who are looking to declutter their surplus purchases by giving back to those who need them the most. We are excited to partner with NVPC for SG Cares Giving Week and we encourage every donor to give generously and make a positive difference this festive season.” said Ng Chee Soon, Managing Director, Carousell Singapore.

“We are pleased to partner Carousell once again in this meaningful campaign. Carousell offers a unique way for non-profit organisations like the Singapore Red Cross to garner both monetary and in-kind donations via a single platform. The publicity support given is also invaluable to our outreach efforts. We are hopeful that this partnership with Carousell would help us to enhance our online presence and reach a younger, more technologically-savvy audience; and in turn boost our fundraising efforts. We look forward to nurturing an enduring partnership with Carousell,” said Mr Benjamin William, Secretary General and CEO, Singapore Red Cross.

This campaign is an expansion of Carousell’s #SayYesToBlessings initiative, launched in August 2021 to help empower non-profit organisations in digitalising and amplifying their causes online. Participating charities received a complimentary CarouBiz Charities Package worth over $1,500 that includes a suite of premium promotional tools designed to help. Through this initiative, donors will also be able to make direct donations to these organisations, with 100% of the donation going directly to them.

Since the pandemic started, charities have been unable to organise traditional fundraising events and engage with potential donors. To help counter this challenge, Carousell is bringing back its Free Ads for Charities initiative, and will offer up to a quarter of million dollars in an advertising support programme to support charities impacted by Covid-19.

This $250,000 fund will focus on supporting any charities and non-profit organisations in Singapore and their efforts to replenish supply of essential items, donations for upkeep cost, call for volunteers and other initiatives caring for vulnerable communities.

“We are very proud to bring back our Free Ads for Charities initiative and expand upon our commitment to uplift local communities in need. Charity donations have been impacted as fundraising events have had to be cancelled due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic. With 1 in 3 Singaporeans on our platform every month, we can help amplify their causes and give these charities more visibility on the road to recovery,” said JJ Eastwood, Managing Director, Carousell Media Group.

These two campaigns are the latest in Carousell’s initiatives to support and empower communities during the COVID-19 situation, other initiatives include #MADEinSG to support the local art scene amid the circuit breaker period. Carousell was also recognised as a Champion of Good in 2020 by NVPC’s Company of Good.

Interested non-profit organisations can also reach out to Carousell here for more information.
