Beyond Alliance: Leading Companies will direct $100m to Cut Superpollutants

NEW HAVEN, Conn., March 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — A group of leading global companies has today announced a $100 million initiative to accelerate the reduction of superpollutants – powerful warming agents such as methane, black carbon, and refrigerant gases that are responsible for roughly half of all climate warming to date and can contribute to harmful air pollution.

This new effort – the Superpollutant Action Initiative – aims to deliver positive climate, health, and economic benefits by scaling funding for projects that cut these often short-lived but highly potent pollutants. Through the initiative, companies including Amazon, Autodesk, Figma, Google, JPMorganChase, Salesforce, and Workday, will each identify and fund high-impact projects targeting superpollutants around the world. The aim of this initiative is to deploy $100 million through 2030 to unlock action in areas where progress is critically needed.

“Superpollutants are a major part of the equation to limit atmospheric warming. Experts agree that eliminating them where we can is one of the most powerful levers we have to deliver near-term impact, playing a vital and complementary role to removing CO2. Google is excited to join our peers in accelerating progress to eliminate superpollutants,” said Randy Spock, Carbon Credits and Removals Lead, Google.

Superpollutants are emitted from sources including energy production, agriculture, waste, and cooling systems. Although the most common ones remain in the atmosphere for less time than carbon dioxide, they can trap heat tens to thousands of times more powerfully, making their reduction one of the fastest ways to slow near-term warming.

Many solutions to cut superpollutants are already available and cost-effective. Methane alone drives roughly a third of today’s near-term warming and global methane abatement could avoid more than $1 trillion in market damages by 2050.

Rapid action on superpollutants can also deliver significant human and environmental benefits. According to analysis, aggressive reductions could avoid more than half a degree Celsius of warming by 2050, prevent millions of premature deaths from air pollution each year, and protect tens of millions of crops annually. Cutting superpollutants is therefore one of the most effective and immediately available ways to slow near-term warming, making it a critical emergency brake for the planet.

“Reducing superpollutants is one of the best ways to limit near-term warming, delivering critical benefits for air quality, public health, and agricultural resilience. A multi-stakeholder approach can help accelerate solutions at scale — Salesforce is proud to support this initiative with our peers,” said Max Scher, Vice President of Sustainability, Salesforce.

The initiative is organized by the Beyond Alliance, a business-led coalition focused on scaling corporate funding for high-integrity climate solutions. Beyond will support participating companies by providing research, reporting, knowledge sharing, and other activities associated with implementing the initiative.

“We are in a decisive decade for the climate, and reducing superpollutants is one of the few levers that can bend the curve quickly,” said Luke Pritchard, Director, Beyond Alliance. “This initiative shows how companies can deploy private capital where it matters most—unlocking solutions that cut warming, improve air quality, and deliver measurable results now, while creating a clear pathway for others to follow.”

To identify the best opportunities for rapid action, the Beyond Alliance will partner with the Carbon Containment Lab and leading scientific experts to create a global roadmap highlighting how companies can support progress on superpollutant action. The roadmap, set to be released later this year, will outline how and where private capital can be deployed to achieve the greatest impact and will be made publicly available to enable other companies, investors, and governments to accelerate progress.

Beyond structured its initiative based on a set of guiding principles designed to maximize results, including catalytic impact, scientific rigor, transparency, urgency, and collaboration. For more information, visit www.beyond-alliance.org/superpollutants.

The announcement has been welcomed by leading organizations working to accelerate action on superpollutants, including Cascade Climate, the Clean Air Fund, the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, the Climateworks Foundation, the Environmental Defense Fund, the Global Methane Hub, and the Super Pollutant Action Alliance.

Supply Chain Control Enables Apple to Launch Lower-Priced Notebooks Amid Industry Downturn to Fill Pricing Gap, Says TrendForce

  • MacBook Neo signals Apple’s formal expansion into lower price tiers, cultivating future brand loyalty earlier
  • Pricing aligns with mainstream Windows notebooks, strengthening competitiveness in education procurement markets
  • Apple’s superior supply chain control allows it to introduce a lower-priced device despite industry headwinds

TAIPEI, March 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — TrendForce’s latest projections estimate that global notebook shipments will decline 9.2% YoY in 2026, with the possibility of deeper contraction should demand remain weak. Amid simultaneous shortages and price increases in memory and CPUs—factors prompting most notebook brands to streamline product lines and adopt cautious inventory strategies—Apple has taken the opposite approach by introducing an entry-level notebook, the MacBook Neo, at a starting price of US$599.

The new model targets the $500–800 mainstream segment, which is commonly associated with education and general productivity notebooks. This highlights Apple’s clear ambition to broaden its product lineup and expand its ecosystem reach.

TrendForce forecasts Apple’s notebook shipments will grow 7.7% YoY in 2026, pushing macOS market share to 13.2%, fueled by the company’s downward extension of price tiers, proactive pricing strategy, and strong supply chain control when compared to peers. Shipments of the MacBook Neo alone could reach 4–5 million units, depending on consumer acceptance of its 8 GB memory configuration.

If the MacBook Neo successfully penetrates the entry-level segment, it could not only offset the broader industry downturn but also reshape the pricing structure and competitive landscape of the global notebook market.

TrendForce notes that Apple’s ability to launch a lower-priced device despite rising component costs largely stems from its strong supply chain control. First, its in-house Apple Silicon processors reduce reliance on external CPU suppliers, giving Apple greater flexibility in capacity allocation and cost negotiations. Second, Apple’s highly standardized product specifications, streamlined development pipeline, and concentrated memory configurations enable larger purchasing volumes and stronger long-term contract bargaining power.

In contrast, Windows ecosystem brands typically maintain more fragmented product portfolios with diverse memory and processor configurations, making it more difficult to manage inventory and cost risks during periods of component price volatility.

Historically, Apple has focused on the mid-to-high-end notebook segment, with most MacBook models priced above $999. The introduction of the MacBook Neo marks Apple’s official move to expand its product pyramid downward. By entering the entry-level segment, Apple can not only fill a key pricing gap but also establish brand loyalty among students and early-career professionals at an earlier stage.

Beyond boosting hardware sales, the new model is expected to expand the macOS user base, which in turn supports long-term growth in services such as the App Store, iCloud, and Apple Music, reinforcing Apple’s broader monetization strategy through its ecosystem.

The MacBook Neo’s starting price is significantly lower than previous MacBook models and directly targets mainstream Windows notebooks. As competitors are forced to raise prices due to rising component costs, Apple is opting to sacrifice some margin in exchange for greater market share and user growth. The competitively priced device could attract more price-sensitive consumers and potentially give Apple an advantage in education procurement tenders.

Correcting and Replacing: Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra Ushers in New Premium Era

Thanks to powerful partnerships with industry leaders, NOTE 60 Ultra represents Infinix’s boldest entry in the flagship tier, debuting in Barcelona during MWC 2026

BARCELONA, SPAIN – Media OutReach Newswire – 5 March 2026 – Infinix is cementing its status within the premium smartphone segment in a bold new way with NOTE 60 Ultra, its landmark flagship debuting in Barcelona during Mobile World Congress 2026.

Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra Design by Pininfarina
Infinix NOTE 60 Ultra Design by Pininfarina

Co-developed with Italian automotive and design legend Pininfarina, NOTE 60 Ultra’s design is driven by an emotion-led aesthetic inspired by super cars. Beneath its bold design lies a fully realized flagship experience, integrating breakthrough in-house innovations with best-in-class partner technologies. A professional-grade 200MP ultra-high-definition imaging system, built-in multi-country satellite communication connectivity, and immersive audio precision-tuned by SOUND BY JBL come together to challenge expectations in the premium segment.

Supercar Design DNA in a Flagship, Shaped by Pininfarina

In the premium segment, the design language is a device’s opening statement. A user’s perception at first glance is shaped by aesthetics, long before a single specification is considered.

Drawing inspiration from the aerodynamic philosophy and pioneering spirit of high-performance sports cars, Infinix, in partnership with Pininfarina, takes a radical departure in sculpting a flagship. What stands out immediately is what’s missing: the camera bump. As premium handsets adopt larger sensors, they often sacrifice form with increasingly protruding camera modules.

True to the sports car heritage, NOTE 60 Ultra introduces a fully integrated, single-body rear: the Aluminum Unibody Design. At the heart of this craftsmanship is the World’s 1st Uni-Chassis Cam Module, formed a single, continuous sheet of CORNING® GORILLA® GLASS VICTUS that virtually conceals the presence of the camera. Much like a supercar sculpted for low-drag, the rear design maintains a smooth, uninterrupted silhouette. This also ensures a natural in-hand feel and unobtrusively slips into any pocket, while reinforcing the phone’s durability and structural integrity.

Paying homage to Italian cultural and racing heritage, NOTE 60 Ultra arrives in four striking colorways: Torino Black, Monza Red, Amalfi Blue, and Roma Silver. Each hue draws inspiration from the most iconic scenes and legends of Italy’s motorsport and cultural history, capturing the spirit of speed, lifestyle, and emotional beauty.

Just as a supercar announces its ignition through sound and light, NOTE 60 Ultra mirrors the ritual. A Floating Taillight signature spans the rear, illuminating as the device powers on. And as a final nod to automotive heritage, NOTE 60 Ultra features an Active Matrix Display reminiscent of a supercar dashboard at startup. Concealed within the rear surface, the hidden display lights up to reveal notifications, expressive icons, or a pixel-style virtual companion.

Dual Flagship Cameras for Detail, Zoom, and True-to-Life Imaging

Although discreet at first glance, Infinix makes no concessions on camera performance and earmarks a new era for Infinix’s imaging capability. Delivering performance on par with industry-leading standards, Infinix’s Dual Flagship Imaging Architecture marks several brand-first breakthroughs and improvements across three dimensions, reinforcing its position as a signature offering.

Under the hood, it’s clear that NOTE 60 Ultra refuses to settle for less. Discreetly integrated within the Uni-Chassis Cam Module is a powerful triple-camera array. Anchored by a next-generation 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HPE sensor, NOTE 60 Ultra delivers ultra-high-definition clarity. And ensuring flagship-grade versatility across focal lengths, the phone is complemented by a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN5 periscope telephoto lens and a 112° ultra-wide lens.

However, hardware alone does not define the full experience. For the first time, Infinix supports the XDR display standard with Ultra HDR Capture. Powered by a proprietary XDR Image Engine, Infinix’s advanced system delivers a superior dynamic range, ideal for true-to-life photos of bright lights at night or breathtaking sunset scenes.

The result is exceptional resolution that sets a higher bar for precise framing in daylight or after dark, while faithfully preserving details often lost in standard photography. Whether exploring daytime cityscapes or distant horizons, NOTE 60 Ultra excels with its advanced optical‑to‑digital zoom performance. Crisp, detailed shots are captured across a versatile zoom range, from a 2× optical crop and native 3.5× optical zoom to a 7× lossless digital zoom, extending up to 100× for extreme distances.

Expansive Satellite Calling and Messaging Coverage

Beyond what meets the eye, NOTE 60 Ultra carries a more subtle capability designed to accompany the user’s ambition, as far as and wherever the road leads. NOTE 60 Ultra is the first¹ to introduce dual-way satellite calling with expansive global coverage across a far greater number of countries¹. Powered by two-way messaging and calling beyond traditional terrestrial networks, NOTE 60 Ultra offers an added peace of mind whether navigating remote terrain beyond cellular coverage or facing large-scale network disruptions. The device bridges regional connectivity gaps to maintain communication and enables emergency location sharing when it matters most.

Ultra-Fast, Enduring Functionalities for an All-Around Flagship Experience

NOTE 60 Ultra combines category-leading performance and enduring power to support multi-sensory entertainment without interruption. Complementing this, its latest user experience delivers forward-looking innovations and AI-driven optimizations, making it more accessible and seamless for everyday use.

Impressively, Infinix debuted the Proprietary Battery Self-Healing Technology. Despite featuring a massive 7000mAh silicon-carbon battery within a slim, lightweight frame, NOTE 60 Ultra is engineered to restore up to 1%² of battery health every 200 charge cycles. Complementing this breakthrough, NOTE 60 Ultra supports wired 100W All-Around Fast Charge and 50W wireless charging, achieving a full charge from 1% to 100%² in only 48 minutes through a wired connection.

Even with a massive battery, Infinix pulls out all the stops to optimize for both speed and energy management. Featuring a 4nm all-big-core MediaTek Dimensity 8400 Ultimate chipset together with Infinix’s self-developed performance engine, NOTE 60 Ultra achieves up to 25%² faster multitasking, accelerated app responsiveness, and sustained smoothness.

NOTE 60 Ultra excels in its class with a captivating, 1.5K Ultra HDR cinematic display. Delivering fluid 144Hz responsiveness and exceptional 4500-nit peak brightness, visuals remain vibrant across most lighting conditions. Even in motion, intelligent predictive stabilization minimizes motion sickness, whether watching a film or playing games from within a car. And just as a high-performance vehicle demands calibrated acoustics, NOTE 60 Ultra doesn’t settle for less. It delivers high-fidelity audio through a stereo system with SOUND BY JBL, completing a truly compelling entertainment experience.

The NOTE 60 Ultra’s optimized performance enables its intelligent AI features to run fluidly and efficiently with minimal battery drain. Its integrated AI ecosystem focuses on practical daily-enhancing functions, including real-time vitals tracking via Advanced Health Monitor, personalized file organization and an adaptive AI-powered knowledge base, all evolving with user preferences. These AI capabilities are seamlessly woven into GlowSpace, a new interface debuting on XOS 16.³ Powered by Android 16, GlowSpace introduces a fully reimagined UI centered on fluid motion and luminous details that animate with every interaction.

Through co-engineering with leading technology and innovation partners, Infinix has aligned NOTE 60 Ultra around a unified vision of excellence. The outcome is a benchmark-setting flagship defined not by spectacle, but by deeply integrated and purposeful engineering, inside-out.

Product availability

NOTE 60 Ultra comes with a promise of 3 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security patches.

NOTE 60 Ultra is available in four colors: Torino Black, Monza Red, Amalfi Blue, and Roma Silver.

It will be available in two variants: 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, with built-in eSIM⁴.

Jiaozi Avenue, a key artery in the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, hosted the 2026 Lantern Festival event themed “Full of Vitality, Chengdu My Home” on Tuesday evening, putting talents and enterprises center stage.

Since its inception in 2024, the event has been held three times on the avenue. This year’s centerpiece was the 52,000-square-meter giant screen light show at the Tianfu International Financial Center’s twin towers. Divided into three chapters, the show featured intangible cultural heritage elements and designs themed around the Year of the Horse.

Notably, a special “enterprise spotlight” segment was staged at the show, featuring inspirational mottos from nearly 50 key enterprises in the zone.

Beyond the light show, the event featured a concert where most of the singers and songwriters were from the zone’s industries such as electronic information, biomedicine, digital economy and future science and technology. Artificial intelligence was used in the song creation and intelligent robots also participated in the concert.

For the first time, a recruitment drive was held during the event, with 91 enterprises offering more than 1,300 jobs online and offline.

During the Lantern Festival event, 1 million yuan ($144,982) worth of consumption vouchers were distributed. From Tuesday to March 31, the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone plans to issue 20 million yuan in vouchers across 19 product categories, boosting consumer demand.

In addition to Lantern Festival, Jiaozi Avenue has become the premier choice for locals and tourists to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new. At the celebration for welcoming 2026, over 200 sets of beam lights along the avenue complemented the twin towers’ giant screen, showcasing the event’s theme “Chengdu Lights Up for You”.

A highlight of the celebration was when people’s wishes were displayed on the twin towers. Over 600 wishes appeared on the massive screen, each reflecting love for life, visions for the future, and affection for the city, embodying Chengdu’s passion, openness, and innovation. A countdown appeared on the towers as midnight approached on the last day of 2025, with 120,000 residents and tourists joining in to welcome 2026.

The vibrant lights of the New Year’s Eve and Lantern Festival on Jiaozi Avenue are a vivid representation of the vitality and strength of the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone. These celebrations, which integrate technology, culture and talent, are supported by the zone’s robust efforts in advancing industrial development and fostering innovation.

At a recent work conference held in February, the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone reported on its economic growth and development for 2025. The zone achieved a regional GDP of 366.2 billion yuan, reflecting a growth rate of 6.1 percent, and solidified its position as the core engine driving the city’s economic expansion.

Meanwhile, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 114.8 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4 percent. The fixed asset investment hit 80.6 billion yuan, growing by 12.5 percent. Currently, the zone hosts more than 850,000 skilled professionals, including over 2,300 high-level talents recognized at national, provincial and city levels.

As the hub of Chengdu’s development, the zone has established a modern industrial framework. The electronic information sector, for example, reported a 10 percent increase in the added value of industries above designated size, underscoring its role as an economic pillar.

Emerging and future industries are also flourishing. Milestones include the establishment of Ant Group’s AI enterprise service headquarters with an investment of 3 billion yuan; three companies, including Koala Uran, being ranked among the top 100 AI enterprises by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; and the launch of the world’s first space computing satellite constellation.

While enhancing its industrial competitiveness, the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone is accelerating the cultivation of new quality productive forces, with the number of national-level innovation platforms reaching 70. The zone also took the lead in establishing the pilot innovation cooperation network and developed landmark products like the Skywalker II humanoid robot.

This year, the zone will continue to prioritize high-quality development, aiming to enhance its appeal and strength. It plans to make breakthroughs in seven key areas, including national strategy services, economic stability, modern industrial system advancement and social welfare.

In terms of industries, the zone will refine the “3+6+6” modern industrial system and develop a balanced industrial structure with diverse support. For instance, in the electronic information sector, it will leverage leading enterprises to expedite the gathering of key upstream and downstream supporting projects. In the medical and healthcare sector, it will focus on new frontiers such as innovative drugs and cell and gene therapy.

Regarding social welfare, the zone will enhance its balanced and high-quality public service system, responding to the needs of residents at all life stages, particularly the elderly and children.

This year, the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone will fortify its five core functions. These include acting as an innovation transformation hub, high-end industry leader, inland opening-up demonstration and park city showcase.

It will build high-level innovation platforms, achieve breakthroughs in core technologies, assemble top scientific research teams and innovative talents, and create new 100-billion-yuan industrial clusters focusing on AI and the aerospace economy.

In addition, the zone will accelerate the development of a new production model aligned with the requirements of new quality productive forces, as well as a modern governance system in line with the standardized development of new zones. It will also advance the integration of science and industry, institutional opening-up and in-depth reforms.
