Power Outages to Hit Four Vientiane Districts in Early July

Electricite du Laos (EDL), a state-owned national electricity utility, will cut power across four Vientiane districts from 1 to 5 July to carry out maintenance and infrastructure upgrades, the company announced in a notice issued on 29 June.

Xaysetha district will bear the brunt of the cuts, with outages spread across four different days. 

Nakhuay Tai village loses power for eight hours on 1 July, from 8 AM  to 4 PM. Huakhua village and the district hospital face a four-hour cut the next day, from 9 AM to 1 PM. 

On 4 July, Nonkho and Khamsavath villages will face an outage for nine hours, from 8 AM to 5 PM, while Nakhuay and Hakham villages lose power for eight hours, from 8 AM to 4 PM. 

Power will be cut again on 5 July in Xiengda, Moueangnoy, and Nonwaiy villages for nine hours, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

On 1 July, in Sikhottabong district will see outages in the areas of Bonangua village loses power for six hours, from 9 AM to 3 PM. Meanwhile, in Sisattanak district, Thongphanthong and Phonthan villages near the Phonethan elevated water tanks will lose power from 9 AM to noon.

The outages are part of EDL’s ongoing efforts to maintain and upgrade the capital’s power infrastructure. EDL asked affected residents to prepare ahead of time and apologized for the inconvenience.
