Laos has sent a letter of condolence to the government and the people of Nepal regarding a recent airplane crash that claimed the lives of 72 passengers and crew on 15 January.
The letter from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Saleumxay Kommasith, reads: “I have learned with sadness of the tragic accident of Yeti Airlines near Pokhara City in Nepal on 15 January, causing the death of all passengers and crew.
On behalf of the Government and people of the Lao people’s Democratic Republic, and on my own behalf, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and profound condolences through Your Excellency to the Government and people of Nepal, particularly to the bereaved families of these victims.
I am confident that under the intensive efforts of the Government, the people of Nepal will be able to overcome this moment of grief.”
The recent airplane crash on flight 691 Yeti Airline from Kathmandu to Pokhara killed all 72 people on board in the country’s deadliest plane crash in 30 years.
Laos and Nepal established diplomatic relations in May, 1960.
