Apollo Cancer Centres Turns Chocolates into Health Reminders with ‘Check-Olate’

NEW DELHI, Nov. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — To observe this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Apollo Cancer Centres (ACCs) recently launched across India a unique initiative that blended indulgence with awareness through ‘Check-Olate’, a sweet treat that carries an even sweeter reminder: take a moment for yourself.

Apollo Cancer Centres launch ‘Check-Olate’ across India, empowering women to make breast self-examination a monthly ritual.
Apollo Cancer Centres launch ‘Check-Olate’ across India, empowering women to make breast self-examination a monthly ritual.

Breast cancer is one of the major public health challenges worldwide. GLOBOCAN data indicates approximately 2.3 million new female breast cancer cases worldwide. Recognising the urgent need for greater awareness and proactive prevention, ACCs aimed to normalise self-care through Check-Olate and empower women to make breast self-examination a monthly ritual.

Eminent breast oncologists at Apollo Cancer Centres stated that when it comes to breast cancer, early detection isn’t just important, it’s lifesaving. They stressed the fact that ACCs have witnessed firsthand how timely screening and awareness have helped save numerous women through early-stage diagnosis and treatment.

ACCs’ clinicians said that Check-Olate is their way of turning a moment of indulgence into a reminder for proactive health. Dark chocolate, known for its antioxidant and mood-enhancing benefits, becomes a comforting messenger of care, reminding every woman that a simple self-examination, just a few minutes a month, can make all the difference. By making this message accessible and relatable, they aim to replace fear with awareness and action.

Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice-Chairperson, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, said, “When women are healthy, nations prosper. Every woman’s well-being is a force multiplier that strengthens families, communities, and the economy. Closing the women’s health gap could add an estimated 1 trillion dollars annually to the global economy by 2040. At Apollo, we see women’s health as a national priority and a shared responsibility. Through Apollo Cancer Centres, we are advancing early detection, enabling timely intervention, and building a culture where proactive care is the norm. The ‘Check-Olate’ initiative is another purposeful step in this mission, reminding women that self-care is not a privilege; it is power, and it fuels a healthier, stronger, and more prosperous India.”

Each bar of dark chocolate (Check-Olate) features a QR code that, when scanned, opens an animated video demonstrating a step-by-step guide on breast self-examination.

Beyond its symbolic warmth, Check-Olate used dark chocolate for its proven wellness benefits. According to NCBI, dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants and flavonoids that help reduce inflammation, support heart health, and uplift mood.

Pan Pacific Hotels Group Opens Pan Pacific Dalian

Marks Group’s expansion into China’s next-wave cities

SINGAPORE, Nov. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Pan Pacific Hotels Group (PPHG), the hospitality arm of Singapore-based UOL Group Limited, proudly announces the opening of Pan Pacific Dalian. This marks PPHG’s seventh hotel in China and its first in the vibrant coastal city of Dalian.

Pan Pacific Dalian, strategically located on Youting Road
Pan Pacific Dalian, strategically located on Youting Road

Strategically located on Youting Road, Pan Pacific Dalian offers guests a harmonious blend of contemporary comfort and authentic local experiences. The hotel’s prime location provides easy access to Xinghai Square, Dalian World Expo Centre and Dalian Xinghai Convention & Exhibition Centre making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travellers.

Located in Northeast China, Dalian is fast emerging as a coastal economic powerhouse, renowned for its growing influence in international trade, maritime innovation, and as a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination. In 2023 alone, the city reported an 87.8% increase in tourist arrivals over the previous year [1], exceeding pre-pandemic levels, while its GDP reached RMB 951.69 billion (USD 131 billion) in 2024 [2], with a 90% surge in foreign investment utilisation.

Dalian is gaining strong traction in both domestic tourism and business travel. It is emerging as an engine of commerce, culture, and connectivity, and we see immense potential in establishing a strong presence here. Our new hotel underscores PPHG’s long-term commitment to China, where growth is increasingly being shaped by the vibrancy of its next-wave cities. Our expansion into Dalian reflects our strategy to deepen our presence in China’s urban centres that are driving domestic tourism and economic momentum,” said Mr. Choe Peng Sum, CEO of PPHG.

Strong domestic growth fundamentals

China’s domestic travel market, estimated to be around USD 744 billion, is currently the world’s second largest behind United States. It is expected to grow 12% annually and overtake the US to become the world’s largest by 2030, according to a report by McKinsey [3]. The report highlights that 30% of the global hotel construction pipeline is currently concentrated in China, with the pipeline heavily skewed toward luxury properties to cater to the growing demand.

China remains one of the most dynamic growth engines for the global economy. We continue to see strong demand for travel driven by rising disposable incomes, urbanisation, and the growing aspiration of Chinese consumers to explore and experience more. For the hospitality sector, this translates into a tremendous opportunity, not only to welcome more international travellers outbound from China, but also to serve an increasingly sophisticated domestic market. At PPHG, we are investing with confidence in China’s long-term trajectory, because we believe that travel and hospitality will remain integral to the country’s economic story and to global tourism demand in the years ahead,” he added.

Soaring 52 storeys high, Pan Pacific Dalian offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Yellow Sea and surrounding hills, combining elevated design and modern elegance in line with PPHG’s Graceful Luxury 2.0 – a refreshed brand philosophy that celebrates meaningful, sensory-rich hospitality experiences. Drawing design inspiration from Dalian’s rich legacy as a historic trade nexus between China and Russia, the hotel features 216 spacious rooms and suites, styled with romantic, cruise-inspired interiors that blend elegance with a sense of timeless journey. Perched at the building’s summit, guests will find a range of meeting and dining venues, including a rooftop bar that promises unforgettable panoramic experiences.

Adding to its unique charm, the hotel will also offer a rooftop helipad, a striking feature for VIP transfers, aerial sightseeing, or creative events. The hotel also has state-of-the-art meeting and event facilities, a fully equipped fitness centre, and a serene spa, catering to the diverse needs of its guests.

Pan Pacific Dalian marks a significant milestone in PPHG’s strategic growth in China, joining a robust portfolio that includes Pan Pacific Beijing, Pan Pacific Ningbo, Pan Pacific Suzhou, Pan Pacific Tianjin, Pan Pacific Xiamen, and Pan Pacific Serviced Suites Ningbo.

Australia Reaffirms Commitment to Laos with Another Humanitarian Relief Delivery under Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2025

Australia continues to demonstrate its strong partnership with Laos by delivering emergency relief supplies to support Laos’ efforts in disaster preparedness and humanitarian response.

On 11 November, Wattay International Airport hosted a handover ceremony to mark the arrival of humanitarian relief supplies delivered by a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) C-130 aircraft. Australian Ambassador Megan Jones, Brigadier Jen Harris, Commander of Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2025 (IPE25), and Lieutenant Colonel Nick Beumer, Defence Attaché, officially handed the supplies to Phosay Sayasone, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare (MOLSW) of Laos.

This delivery is part of IPE25, a regional initiative led by the Australian Defence Force to strengthen cooperation and resilience across the Indo-Pacific.

The humanitarian supplies, valued at AUD 98,000 (LAK 1.3 billion), include 360 hygiene kits, 360 kitchen kits, 2,200 blankets, 2,800 mosquito nets, and 1,800 mats, which will benefit more than 1,800 people.

“Australia remains committed to supporting the Lao government’s efforts to prepare for and respond to natural disasters or humanitarian emergencies,” said Megan Jones, Australian Ambassador to Laos.

“We are also pleased to know that the humanitarian supplies delivered over the past three years have supported many families affected by flooding across several provinces in Laos,” she added.

“We sincerely appreciate Australia’s continued support in strengthening Laos’ disaster preparedness and emergency response,” said Phosay Sayasone, Minister of MOLSW. “These prepositioned humanitarian supplies are timely and valuable and will help us respond more effectively and promptly to the needs of families affected by natural disasters when they occur across the country, especially during the rainy season.”

In addition to today’s delivery, Australia recently supported Laos through the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance (AHA Centre) by providing humanitarian supplies to assist 15,000 people, including family kits, kitchen sets, and personal hygiene kits from the Subang warehouse in Malaysia, valued at approximately USD 260,000 (LAK 5.6 billion).

These supplies, through the AHA Centre, have significantly supported Laos’ ability to respond to Tropical Cyclone WIPHA and the Southwest Monsoon. The Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2025 delivery complements this assistance by further enhancing preparedness and ensuring essential supplies are available when disasters strike.

Australia’s humanitarian assistance reflects the strength of longstanding cooperation with Laos and ASEAN, reinforcing Australia’s role as a reliable and trusted partner in humanitarian support and emergency response across the region. It also demonstrates Australia’s steadfast commitment to ASEAN’s collective response efforts and the spirit of One ASEAN, One Response.
