Singapore Celebrates 60 Years of Independence with an Enticing Multisensory Pavilion ‘RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA’ at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025

  • Celebrate Singapore’s Superdiversity by experiencing a thousand worlds in one Singapore
  • RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA brings superdiversity to the table, through a dynamic exhibition that reimagines city-making through food, culture, and collective design

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 6 May 2025 – In celebration of Singapore’s 60th year of independence (SG60), the Singapore Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025 invites visitors to take a seat at the Table of Superdiversity—an enticing reimagination of city-making and nation-building through the universal act of dining.

Titled RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA, the Pavilion reinterprets the Latin notion of tabula rasa (a blank slate) as a multisensory experience. Here, RASA (taste in Malay), TABULA (table in Latin), and SINGAPURA (Lion City in Sanskrit) converge as a metaphor for Singapore’s distinctive identity, shaped by centuries of movement, exchange, and reinvention. Commissioned by the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA) and the DesignSingapore Council (Dsg), the Singapore Pavilion is organised by the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), and is curated by a multidisciplinary team from SUTD: Prof. Tai Lee Siang, Prof. Khoo Peng Beng, Prof. Dr. Erwin Viray, Dr. Jason Lim, Asst. Prof. Dr. Immanuel Koh, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sam Conrad Joyce.

The Pavilion uses dining—one of Singapore’s beloved national pastimes—as a curatorial lens to explore how architecture, policy, and participatory design intersect in the everyday lives of Singaporeans. Through a curated menu of architectural and urban planning projects, RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA offers visitors a ‘taste’ of Singapore, by engaging with the key ingredients that shape its built environment. ‘Main courses’ highlight key developments and districts such as Pinnacle@Duxton, an iconic public housing development in Singapore, that reflects Singapore’s innovative approach to urban growth and transformation; while ‘side dishes’ showcase innovations in design, policy, and community-building, which contribute to Singapore’s strength as a multicultural society.

The Pavilion’s tablescape reflects and applies the theme of Biennale curator Carlo Ratti—Intelligens: Natural. Artificial. Collective.—to Singapore’s context. Building on the word ‘intelligence’ and the Latin word ‘gens’, which means ‘people’, the Pavilion seeks to express Singapore’s superdiversity by illustrating how the convergence of global and local influences, complex data, as well as myriad flows of people, goods, ideas and innovations, collectively shapes Singapore’s unique identity and the way we rethink the built environment.

“Illustrating Singapore’s superdiversity, we are highlighting seven ‘main courses’ at RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA—each offering a taste of how Singapore plans for life at every scale. At Pinnacle@Duxton, we explored vertical living as a framework for superdiversity—where density, design, and innovation come together in the sky. Moving from single developments to district-scale planning, projects like Tengah and Changi Airport demonstrate how Singapore applies the same design sensibility to shaping entire ecosystems of liveability and movement. These ideas continue through our research and teaching at SUTD, where planning for the future means designing for complexity. It’s one expression of a city always planning ahead, always becoming,” said Prof. Khoo Peng Beng, Co-Curator for the Singapore Pavilion, head of the Architecture and Sustainable Design Pillar at SUTD and a recipient of the President’s Design Award.

Another key example on display on the dining table is CapitaSpring, a 280-metre-tall tropical high-rise in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District that exemplifies the city’s progressive planning. The biophilic spectacle is a showcase of Singapore’s Landscaping for Urban Spaces and High-Rises (LUSH) policy—requiring developers to replace greenery lost on the ground with vertical landscapes. Over 80,000 plants are woven into the tower’s fabric, including a soaring four-storey Green Oasis 100 metres above ground, one of Singapore’s highest that is publicly accessible in commercial buildings.

Through the exhibition’s interactive installations and vibrant dining-inspired setting, RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA brings this urban feast to life, inviting visitors to consider how collective views on natural, artificial, and social aspects can shape spaces that reflect shared needs, values, and aspirations. The Pavilion becomes a living forum where visitors can discover how design, data, and diversity converge to craft Singapore’s evolving cityscape and its underpinning interconnected systems.

“Through thoughtful urban planning and design, we create environments that inspire and support how we live, work, play, and connect. In a land-scarce city like Singapore, we need to balance density, diversity, and design. Planning policies, cultural values, environmental priorities, and community needs are considered and integrated to create and shape spaces that are inclusive, resilient and adaptable. RASA-TABULA-SINGAPURA offers a sensory map of that approach, inviting visitors to experience the thoughtful processes that have shaped our nation’s transformation in the last 60 years. It is not just a showcase of what we have built, but also a reflection of how we imagine—and continue to reimagine—our future,” said Yap Lay Bee, Co-Commissioner of the Singapore Pavilion and Group Director (Architecture & Urban Design) of URA.

“As a nation by design, Singapore’s socio-economic needs, demographics, policies, and spatial negotiations have guided our urban planning. Such intelligence not only reflects our design-led development for the last 60 years, but will continue to chart the course for our future. Centring on the concept of superdiversity, this year’s Singapore Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale showcases how the convergence of unique multicultural differences, collective histories, design and new technology offers opportunities for more inclusive, adaptive urban futures,” said Dawn Lim, Co-Commissioner of the Singapore Pavilion and Executive Director of Dsg.

The Singapore Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025 will be held from 9 May 2025 to 23 November 2025.

HD Renewable Energy Secures 300MW BESS in Japan’s Long-Term Decarbonisation Power Source Auction, Marking Second Consecutive Win

TAIPEI, May 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — HD Renewable Energy (HDRE, TWSE: 6873), a global smart energy leader based in Taiwan, has further expanded its footprint in Japan’s battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity market. In the 2025 round of Japan’s Long-Term Decarbonisation Power Source Auction, the company secured five new BESS project tenders with a total capacity of approximately 300MW (1.5GWh), following its 2024 milestone as the first Taiwanese company to win projects under this scheme. This marks HDRE’s second consecutive year of success in Japan, underscoring its technological expertise and growing market credibility.

HD Renewable Energy Secures 300MW BESS in Japan’s Long-Term Decarbonisation Power Source Auction

In 2024, HDRE secured two BESS projects totaling 73MW (97.9MW installed capacity) in Mie and Fukuoka prefectures, both scheduled to begin operations in 2027. In the 2025 auction, the total awarded capacity for the BESS segment was approximately 1.37GW. HDRE accounted for around 20% of this total and remains the only Taiwanese company to secure large-scale BESS projects. The five newly awarded sites are located across Aomori, Fukushima, and Hokkaido, with the largest project nearing 100MW. All projects are eligible for 20-year government-backed capacity payments.

HDRE is targeting over 3GW of renewable energy development in Japan, including 400MW of solar and 2.6GW of BESS. The company continues to expand its smart energy services through power retail, energy management systems, and aggregation technologies. Beyond the capacity market, HDRE has made significant strides across multiple projects. Its joint development in Gunma with Tokyu Fudosan Holdings was awarded a JPY 1.19 billion subsidy by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and is set for completion in early 2028. Another major project, “Project Hikari” in Sapporo, Hokkaido—developed with Brawn Capital—is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2025.

HDRE is also strengthening its strategic partnerships in Japan. In collaboration with Mitsubishi Electric, the company has established a joint venture focused on energy aggregation and received strategic investment from Mitsubishi Electric, which acquired a 3.06% equity stake in HDRE during its first private placement. HDRE plans to further deepen its presence in Japan and replicate its success across other international markets to accelerate the global clean energy transition.

Addmotor 2025 New Electric Trikes and Accessories Redefine Mobility with Innovation and Versatility

The 2025 lineup, which includes the Citytan Folding, SpytanX Reverse, Greattan D Fat Tire, M-380 Tandem models, and Addmotor customized accessories, offers unparalleled versatility, meeting the needs of urban commuters, families, and golf enthusiasts alike. With a focus on cutting-edge design, advanced technology, and user-centric features, Addmotor continues to redefine the future of electric mobility.

Citytan – Foldable e-Trike

Citytan redefines the concept of the most affordable electric folding trike. With its entire frame composed of aluminum, the Citytan offers improved durability and minimizes the risk of frame distortion, ensuring a safe and long-lasting ride. Its foldable step-through frame and handlebar stem make it incredibly easy to store in tight spaces such as cars, RVs, or any area with limited room, enhancing portability for riders on the go.

Compared to the Addmotor Citytri, which is equipped with city tires, the Citytan comes with wider 3-inch mini fat tires, offering more tire surface area for improved stability and versatility across different terrains. Whether you’re navigating city streets or taking light uneven paths, these tires ensure a smoother, more secure ride.

The 14.1-inch low step-through frame makes mounting and dismounting effortless, catering to adults of all fitness levels. With its user-friendly design and ease of use, the Citytan is perfect for those seeking both comfort and practicality.

Priced at $1,699, the Citytan becomes even more accessible with a $300 pre-sale discount, bringing the limited-time price down to just $1,399—proving that a high-quality e-trike doesn’t have to break the bank.

Addmotor also offers the Non-Electric Citytan M-315 Traditional Trike, originally priced at $699, now available for pre-order at just $499, saving you $200. This trike provides many of the same benefits as the Citytan E-Trike, including a lightweight, folding all-aluminum frame, wide 3-inch tires, and low step-through design, to name a few. It’s an affordable option for those who prefer a more traditional, non-electric experience.

SpytanX – Reverse e-Trike

SpytanX is designed with golf lovers and pet lovers in mind, offering a fresh and convenient way to navigate the golf course or daily rides. Powered by a 750W motor and a 960Wh UL 2271 certified battery, this e-trike delivers both power and reliability, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride on and off the course. Its dual front-wheel layout enhances stability, while providing a spacious front basket that’s perfect for carrying groceries, pet carriers, or personal items. Riders can easily keep their belongings and pets in view without the need to constantly look back, improving safety and allowing for more interaction with your furry companions.

To cater to golf enthusiasts, Addmotor has specially designed SpytanX with a stand front rack that can hold a golf bag. Now, you can enjoy your game without any distractions, knowing that your gear is securely in place.

With its upgraded front suspension and an advanced 16-connecting-rod steering system, the SpytanX delivers an unmatched riding experience, making it the perfect choice for those seeking the pinnacle of reverse tricycle performance.

M-380 – Tandem E-Trike

The M-380 Tandem E-Trike is built for shared exploration, transforming the way two riders experience the joy of cycling together. Featuring two comfortable seats—the rear seat with a supportive backrest—and pedals, this electric trike allows both riders to actively participate in pedaling, unlike traditional passenger e-trikes.

What sets the M-380 apart is its advanced drivetrain system, which enables the front and rear riders to control their own pedals independently. The rear seat is even suitable for riders with disabilities or children, providing extra comfort and ease for those who might find it difficult to ride independently. This design ensures that riders of different fitness levels can enjoy the ride together—faster riders don’t need to wait for slower riders, and slower riders won’t feel the strain of trying to keep up. Each rider can enjoy the joy of cycling at their own pace, creating a truly cooperative cycling experience.

Plus, M-380 trike includes a torque sensor on the front pedal-assist system, enabling the front rider to adjust the motor’s power based on pedaling force. This feature makes the ride more responsive, efficient, and in control, enhancing the overall enjoyment.

The optional dual-battery system enhances the M-380’s performance and range, giving riders the flexibility to choose between a single or dual-battery configuration to best suit their needs. Whether cruising through the city or embarking on a longer adventure, the M-380 offers the power you need. Its 38.5-inch widened rear track enhances stability, reducing the risk of tipping, especially with its elongated trike frame. Paired with a 750W motor, the M-380 can support up to 500 lbs of combined rider and cargo weight, making it a reliable option for various needs.

With these thoughtful features, the M-380 Tandem E-Trike is the perfect solution for sharing the ride—whether for an additional disabled rider, a child, or anyone who enjoys exploring together, all while benefiting from the best in modern e-trike technology.

Greattan D – Fat Tire & Cargo E-Trike

Greattan D is the ultimate multi-purpose cargo e-trike, designed to redefine the versatility of fat tire electric trikes. Built for heavy-duty tasks, this e-trike features 7-inch rear fat tires that not only provide superior traction on both smooth city streets and rough, uneven terrains but also offer remarkable load-bearing capacity. These robust tires can support heavy weight without compromising stability or performance.

Capable of supporting up to 500 lbs of total weight, the Greattan D is a solid e-trike for transporting heavy items. Its extra-large rear cargo basket, with a capacity of up to 150 lbs, is perfect for work equipment, groceries, or camping gear. To ensure this impressive payload capacity is met with reliable durability, the rear axle is 25% thicker than other models on the market and has been reinforced to prevent damage during transport.

The performance of the Greattan D is equally as impressive. Powered by a 750W rear-drive motor and an optional dual-battery system, it easily conquers challenging terrains and heavy loads. Whether you’re tackling long-distance journeys or managing daily heavy-duty errands, the Greattan D offers the power and range you need to go the distance without worrying about running out of energy.

HEIDELBERG holds its ground in a difficult market environment in FY 2024/25 – targets achieved, significant increase in incoming orders compared to previous year

  • Sales and adjusted EBITDA margin at previous year’s level according to preliminary figures
  • Free cash flow excluding special items clearly positive at around € 50 million
  • Rising order intake compared to previous year lays the foundation for a good start to FY 2025/26
  • Additional, positive order impetus expected from China Print trade fair in May
  • Adjusted EBITDA margin to rise to around 8 percent in FY 2025/26

HEIDELBERG, GERMANY – Newsaktuell – 6 May 2025 – Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HEIDELBERG) held its own in a difficult market environment in financial year 2024/25 and achieved the targets it had set itself. According to preliminary calculations, the adjusted EBITDA margin remained stable at 7.1 percent, bringing the financial year to a successful close. The slightly lower sales volume compared to the previous year, rising wage costs and expenses for the drupa trade fair were successfully offset by the cost-cutting and efficiency measures initiated. In the fourth quarter alone, the adjusted EBITDA margin doubled to around 10 percent compared to the previous year. At around € 2,280 million, sales were slightly below the previous year’s level (€ 2,395 million). After a weak first quarter due to a reluctance to buy in the run-up to the drupa trade fair, sales increased quarter by quarter in the financial year and closed with a particularly strong fourth quarter. At around € 50 million, free cash flow was once again clearly positive (previous year: € 56 million), which did not include any special items in the reporting year, such as from the sale of non-operating assets.

Growth market packaging printing: High interest worldwide in the Boardmaster from HEIDELBERG for high-volume folding carton production.
Growth market packaging printing: High interest worldwide in the Boardmaster from HEIDELBERG for high-volume folding carton production.

“We were able to achieve our financial year targets in a difficult economic environment and uncertain geopolitical conditions,” said Jürgen Otto, CEO of HEIDELBERG. “With a clearly positive free cash flow for the second year in a row, we have confirmed our financially solid development. The measures initiated to reduce personnel costs will help us to further strengthen our profitability in the new financial year.” The adjusted EBITDA margin is expected to improve further to around 8 percent in the next financial year 2025/26.

Rising incoming orders compared to the previous year lays the foundation for a good start to FY 2025/26

HEIDELBERG closed the past financial year with a high order intake. At over € 600 million, incoming orders in the fourth quarter were up on the previous quarters of the financial year. The basis for this is also the global and diversified positioning of the company, which allows HEIDELBERG to benefit from the different growth dynamics in the individual regions. The significant increase in incoming orders in the EMEA region in the fourth quarter deserves special mention, while the Americas region showed a slight improvement at a still subdued level. After several previous quarters of strong growth, the Asia/Pacific region was below the previous year’s level, mainly to the reluctance to invest ahead of the China Print trade fair.

Both segments in the core business achieved an increase in orders thanks to strong development in the Sheetfed product area, with the Packaging Solutions segment accounting for the higher growth. Preliminary order intake for the year as a whole therefore totaled around € 2.430 billion, which was around 6 percent higher than the previous year’s figure of € 2.288 billion. Overall, the improvement can be seen across both segments, with Packaging Solutions accounting for around 52 percent of order intake for the year as a whole. Compared to the previous year, order intake in this strategically important segment recorded absolute growth of around 7 percent.

“Our global presence in over 170 countries around the world is paying off, especially in economically uncertain times,” said Dr. David Schmedding, Chief Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG. “Thanks to the rising order situation, we expect a better start to the new financial year compared to the previous year. The China Print trade fair in May should provide further impetus for orders. We are also keeping a close eye on the development of customs duties worldwide. However, there is no comparable manufacturer in the USA in our core business. In the global market environment, our competitors are likely to be affected by the US tariffs to the same extent, meaning that we will continue to maintain our leading position. Overall, we are therefore confident about the new financial year.

Additional, positive order impetus expected from China Print trade fair in May

From May 15 to 19, China Print, the largest trade fair in the Chinese printing industry, will take place in Beijing this year with over 100,000 visitors. Customer groups from overseas are also expected to attend. In terms of sales, China is one of the top three markets for HEIDELBERG. At the booth, the company will showcase its latest innovations aimed at increasing efficiency and productivity, integrated hybrid production with offset and digital printing, developing new business opportunities and digital transformation. HEIDELBERG intends to gradually expand its business and portfolio to offer customers integrated end-to-end solutions for the entire production process through automation, robotics and software. As a system provider, the aim is to tap into the huge potential in the growing packaging segment. In China, the annual printing volume in the packaging sector is growing by around 4 percent. HEIDELBERG is thus also creating competitive advantages for its customers in China and intends to grow further in this market segment.
