StarHub Earns its First-Ever ‘A’ Rating in CDP Climate Change Assessment

Recognised among global leaders in climate transparency and action

SINGAPORE, Jan. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — StarHub has achieved its first-ever ‘A’ rating in CDP’s 2025 Climate Change Assessment, marking the highest climate score StarHub has received to date and a meaningful milestone in its sustainability journey.

The ‘A’ rating places StarHub among a small group of organisations globally recognised for leadership in how they manage, measure and communicate climate-related risks and opportunities.

For StarHub, this recognition reflects a clear step forward in how climate considerations are embedded across the business. Over the past year, the focus shifted from meeting disclosure requirements to strengthening how climate risks, emissions and targets are measured, managed and communicated as part of everyday operations and longer-term planning.

Running large-scale, always-on digital and network infrastructure is energy-intensive by nature for telco operators. In response, StarHub is taking practical steps to lower the carbon intensity of its operations while continuing to deliver reliable services to customers. These efforts include improving energy efficiency across network sites and data centres through advanced monitoring, virtualisation, and the progressive retirement of legacy systems, as well as increasing renewable energy adoption through renewable electricity purchases and on-site solar deployment across its facilities. StarHub is also progressing fleet and operations decarbonisation through cleaner mobility options and strengthening emissions management across its supply chain.

A key contributor to this year’s ‘A’ rating was StarHub’s deeper approach to data collection and value chain engagement. StarHub worked closely with key suppliers through a stewardship-led approach to obtain bottom-up, activity-based emissions information. This enabled more intentional refinement of datasets across its most material Scope 3 emission categories and strengthened the quality of its disclosures. These efforts are underpinned by a practical decarbonisation and supplier engagement roadmap anchored in science-based principles, guiding StarHub’s emissions reduction ambitions towards 2030 and 2050.

Building on these foundations, StarHub demonstrated closer alignment between emissions performance and its science-based targets, reflecting a more mature approach that goes beyond reporting numbers to active climate risk management. StarHub continues to disclose its progress and challenges transparently, reflecting the realities of decarbonising complex digital and network operations. These disclosure improvements build on concrete actions already underway. In 2024, StarHub introduced long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to increase the use of renewable energy across its operations, supporting a gradual reduction in the carbon footprint of its network.

Achieving an ‘A’ rating marks an important milestone in StarHub’s climate journey. It reflects stronger discipline, greater transparency and continued commitment to making meaningful progress in a complex, always-on industry.

More details on StarHub’s climate and sustainability performance can be found in its Sustainability Report 2024 and Climate Transition Plan, with the 2025 Sustainability Report to be published in April 2026.

Malaysia’s Workplace Leaders Take the Stage at the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Jan. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Organised by Business Media International, HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2025 Malaysia commemorate companies that are under unprecedented pressure to rethink how they manage people. As the country’s business environment becomes more competitive, employers are contending with rising talent costs, shifting employee expectations, and the rapid introduction of digital tools that demand new ways of working. Many organisations are finding that what used to keep employees satisfied no longer works, and that gaps in communication, leadership and culture are widening faster than they can respond. With multigenerational teams becoming the norm, companies are also struggling to balance the needs of differing age groups while maintaining performance and cohesion.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Malaysia HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia
Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Malaysia HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia

These challenges are not theoretical. They show up in falling retention rates, increased disengagement and difficulties attracting high-quality talent. Companies know the problems exist, but many operate without the internal visibility required to diagnose the root causes. Leaders often rely on assumptions rather than data, resulting in initiatives that feel disconnected from what employees actually need. The result is wasted effort, missed opportunities and workplaces that lag behind the evolving HR landscape.

HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia steps in precisely at this pain point. By providing a rigorous and transparent assessment of employee experience through the Total Engagement Assessment Model, the programme gives companies a granular view of their internal culture. Instead of guessing where morale is dropping or why teams are disengaging, organisations receive evidence-based insights that cut through internal blind spots. This clarity allows leaders to prioritise real issues, fix broken touchpoints and build practices that align with the expectations of today’s workforce.

The programme does more than validate what a company is doing right; it exposes what needs to change. In a market shaped by digital transformation and rising employee scepticism, this ability to understand and act ahead of emerging trends becomes a competitive edge. Companies recognised as HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia stand out not because they are perfect, but because they are proactive. They face their culture gaps early, respond with accuracy and evolve faster than their competitors.

Datuk William Ng, Chairman of HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia, said: “Malaysia’s workforce is evolving quickly. Organisations that treat culture-building as a one-off campaign are the ones falling behind. The winners in this programme are the companies that listen, adapt and lead with evidence rather than assumption.”

As the 2025 cycle begins, the programme continues to equip organisations with the insight and credibility they need to navigate the market’s shifting HR landscape, strengthen their talent foundations and stay ahead of what is coming next.

The award covers fifteen markets across the region including mainland China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam, making this the largest recognition program and survey in the region for employee engagement. Colebrook Bosson Saunders Launches Lana: An Adaptable Laptop Stand Engineered for Hybrid Work

LONDON, Jan. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Colebrook Bosson Saunders (CBS), the leader in workplace ergonomics, introduces Lana, a transformational laptop stand designed to address the evolving needs of hybrid workers and flexible workspace environments.

As organisations adopt flexible hot-desking, touchdown spaces, and communal benching arrangements, prolonged laptop use has become a primary source of workplace discomfort. Lana provides an immediate ergonomic solution, instantly adjusting to raise screens to optimal viewing height. By elevating the laptop display, Lana helps reduce neck, shoulder, back, and eye strain, supporting employee well-being and sustained productivity throughout the workday.

“Lana transforms any work surface into an ergonomic workspace in seconds,” said Cecil Huang, Senior Marketing Manager – APAC, Middle East and Africa at CBS. “In an era where people can work from anywhere, we’ve designed a solution that travels with them and adapts instantly to any environment.”

Lana’s intuitive design allows users to quickly position their laptop at the ideal height, accommodating different working styles and arrangements without complex mechanisms or tools. An integrated USB hub enables wireless peripherals and power delivery through a single USB-C connection (when connected to compatible charging devices), reducing cable clutter and streamlining setup in shared spaces. When not in use, the cable tucks discreetly beneath the platform, and the stand folds flat to free up valuable desk space.

Lana reflects CBS’s commitment to responsible design and circular economy principles. The stand is engineered to withstand daily use for over five years and is backed by a comprehensive five-year warranty. Constructed using PFAS-free materials, Lana incorporates recycled content from lower-carbon aluminum and steel, FSC-certified wood, and natural wool felt.

Available in black and white finishes, Lana’s clean aesthetic integrates effortlessly into shared spaces while remaining robust enough for daily use.

Lana will be available from 3 February for all markets, followed by a U.S. launch in April. Engineered to support laptops up to 16 inches and weights up to 2.5kg, the stand is best used with an external wireless keyboard and mouse (not included) to achieve the full ergonomic benefits. HR Asia Recognises Companies Leading Asia’s Workplace Transformation

SINGAPORE, Jan. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Organized by Business Media International, the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia recognised outstanding companies that have demonstrated resilience, adaptability and commitment to people-first leadership amidst some of the toughest HR conditions in recent years.

Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Singapore HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia
Congratulations to the winners of the 2025 Singapore HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia

Across Asia, companies continued to battle a volatile talent landscape marked by rapid digital disruption, talent shortages, rising employee expectations and an intensified competition for skilled workers. These challenges were amplified by shifting workforce values across generations and increased pressure for meaningful employee engagement, sustainable work cultures and clear growth pathways.

The HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia programme provided participating organisations with structured insights and a data-backed approach to navigate these issues. Through its proprietary Total Engagement Assessment Model (TEAM), the programme enabled companies to identify behavioural gaps, measure culture alignment, and benchmark themselves against high-performing peers across Asia. The results helped employers build targeted strategies to strengthen retention, improve manager effectiveness, accelerate digital adoption, and reshape workplace policies for greater flexibility and inclusivity.

The 2025 winners demonstrated clear progress in translating these insights into action. Companies leaned heavily into hybrid work optimisation and leadership upskilling, accelerated digital capability building and strengthened mental wellbeing frameworks and focused on foundational talent development, culture-building and formalising employee engagement systems. The winners showed measurable improvements in employee satisfaction and organisational cohesion after participating in the programme.

“Despite varied economic and cultural landscapes, companies across Singapore, India and Cambodia shared one thing in common: the determination to build workplaces where people can perform, grow and stay,” said Datuk William Ng, Organising Chairman, HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia. “This award is not only a recognition of excellence, but also a validation that data-driven, people-first strategies work.”

The programme elevates HR leaders and industry decision-makers driving workplace excellence across Asia. As more organisations adopt structured employee engagement practices, HR Asia anticipates continued progress in workforce sustainability and culture transformation throughout the region.

The Lao National Paralympic Team will send 164 athletes with disabilities to compete in the 13th ASEAN Para Games, set to take place in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, from 20 to 27 January.

The delegation will compete across 12 sports against athletes from other nine countries from across the region, following Cambodia’s withdrawal from the event.

Officials confirmed the team will depart for Thailand on 15 January.

Lao athletes will participate in athletics, swimming, weightlifting, goalball, volleyball, wheelchair basketball, boccia, football, cycling, shooting, fencing, badminton, and tennis.

At a send-off ceremony held on 9 January, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Dalavone Kittiphan praised the athletes and coaches for their commitment and discipline throughout preparations.

She also urged athletes to follow coaching guidance, respect competition rules, and promote teamwork, friendship, and cultural exchange with other participating countries. She also encouraged them to compete with determination to bring pride to themselves, their families, and the nation.

In addition to government support, the private sector has also contributed to the team’s preparations, providing jerseys valued at LAK 96 million (approximately USD 4,445).

With months of preparation and backing from both public and private sectors, the Lao National Paralympic Team enters the 13th ASEAN Para Games aiming to strengthen its presence on the regional para-sports stage.

Luang Prabang Warns Tour Operators of Fines for Littering, Disorderly Conduct

Luang Prabang authorities have issued a notice urging tour companies, transport operators, and tour guides to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and public order in the city, warning of escalating fines and possible license suspensions for violations.

According to the notice from the Mayor’s Office, all tourism-related operators, including tour companies, tour bus and boat associations, tourism businesses, and licensed guides, must ensure that staff and clients do not dispose of waste in public areas or waterways.

This includes throwing rubbish from vehicles or boats into rivers, canals, or public spaces.

Under the new measures, a first offence will result in re-education, an official record, and a fine of LAK 300,000 (USD 14), along with mandatory clean-up and compensation for related enforcement costs.

A second offence will carry a LAK 1 million (USD 46) fine, plus clean-up expenses.

Repeated violations may lead to fines five to ten times higher than the second offence, with cases reported to relevant authorities or consulates and handled in accordance with the law.

The notice also states that if offences involve tourists or clients under the supervision of tour companies, vehicles, boats, or guides, the responsible operators will face enforcement action.

In serious cases or where significant damage occurs, authorities may suspend or revoke business licenses.

A Symbol of Prosperity to a Hopeful Action — Reviving Hong Kong’s Ocean Heritage

Explore the Forgotten Role of Oyster Reefs in Protecting Our Shores and Supporting Biodiversity

HONG KONG, Jan. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As the city prepares to welcome the Year of the Horse, a traditional Lunar New Year symbol takes on new significance, the golden oyster – long associated with prosperity, abundance, and good fortune — now carries a deeper message

“Reviving Hong Kong’s Ocean Heritage: Our Forgotten Oyster Reefs” Exhibition — January 12 to 23, 2026 (weekdays only), at the Lincoln House linkbridge, Taikoo Place.
“Reviving Hong Kong’s Ocean Heritage: Our Forgotten Oyster Reefs” Exhibition — January 12 to 23, 2026 (weekdays only), at the Lincoln House linkbridge, Taikoo Place.

Beyond its festive glow, the oyster tells a story of ecological power and quiet loss. Once thriving along Hong Kong’s coastlines, oyster reefs played a vital role as natural water filters, wave buffers, and biodiversity hotspots. Today, they have all but vanished — and with them, a crucial part of the city’s marine heritage.

This January, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) ) invites the public to reconnect with this forgotten ecosystem through the finale edition of its interactive exhibition series: Reviving Hong Kong’s Ocean Heritage: Our Forgotten Oyster Reefs. The exhibition will take place at the linkbridge at Lincoln House, Taikoo Place, from January 12 to 23, 2026 (weekdays only).

Located in one of the Hong Kong’s most vibrant business districts, the exhibition offers professionals and the public alike a rare opportunity to pause, reflect, and discover how they can make a tangible impact on ocean conservation.

From Festive Symbol to Ecological Reality

In Chinese tradition, oysters have long symbolized wealth and longevity — their golden form representing luck and blessings for the year ahead. But the oyster’s real-world role is just as powerful. Beneath the surface, oyster reefs anchor entire marine ecosystems: filtering water, stabilizing shorelines, and supporting biodiversity.

Globally, over 85% of oyster reefs have been lost, making them one of the most endangered marine habitats. In Hong Kong, they once supported local livelihoods and coastal resilience — yet their disappearance has gone largely unnoticed.

This exhibition brings their story back into focus, showing how restoring oyster reefs is a nature-based solution that supports climate adaptation, biodiversity recovery, and sustainable economic development.

“Biodiversity loss is no longer an abstract concept — it’s a material risk for business, communities, and long-term economic stability,” said Anthony Gao, Executive Director for Hong Kong and Regional Partnerships.

“Restoring oyster reefs is more than conservation. It’s a practical, nature-based solution that strengthens coastal resilience, supports ESG goals, and helps build a blue economy that benefits both people and the planet. Through this exhibition, we hope to inspire Hong Kong’s business community to take the lead — by integrating nature into strategy, and turning sustainability commitments into tangible action.”

Immersive Learning Experience and Highlights

The exhibition offers a multisensory journey designed to educate and inspire:

  • A Virtual Reality Journey to restoration sites in Deep Bay and Pak Nai.
  • A full-scale Traditional Oyster Farming Model, featuring authentic poles from Deep Bay.
  • A Water Filtration Video Demonstration, showcasing the oysters natural ability to clean water.
  • A Coastal Resilience Simulation showing how oyster reefs reduce wave impact and protect shorelines from storm surges.
  • Marine Specimens & AR Games inviting participants to rebuild digital reefs.
  • Screening of City of Shells: Our Forgotten Oyster Reefs, a documentary tracing 1,000-year oyster heritage.
