Aolani launches the Aolani Token Factory to bring Pay-Per-Token AI to Asia

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 28 August 2026 – Aolani, a Singapore-founded neocloud powering AI growth, today announced the launch of the Aolani Token Factory, a managed inference platform that enables organisations to deploy and scale AI models on a pay-per-token basis without provisioning or managing the underlying GPU infrastructure. The launch of the token factory will make Aolani the first Singapore-founded neocloud to offer production-grade, managed inference at scale.

As global AI companies expand their operations in Singapore, and companies around the world invest in AI to drive real business outcomes, the demand for production-grade inference infrastructure is quickly accelerating. Aolani Token Factory is designed to close the accessibility gap, giving AI-native companies and companies a highly compliant and high-performance path from AI experimentation to production-scale deployment.

The Aolani Token Factory will be offered as a per-token metering, where customers can pre-purchase credits and pay based on token consumption, rather than investing in capital-intensive GPU infrastructure. Aolani manages the full inference stack, including GPU capacity allocation, model serving, orchestration, scheduling, and workload optimisation, which allows customers to scale consumption without continuously provisioning additional infrastructure.

The platform supports leading open-source models at launch, including DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, and Qwen. Aolani plans to further expand the model catalogue over time based on customer demand and availability. Customers can also deploy their own models through OpenAI-compatible APIs. Dedicated capacity and data isolation options are available for enterprise customers with strict compliance and data residency requirements.

The Aolani Token Factory will support three core production use cases:

  1. AI agents for high-volume inference and workflow automation
  1. Enterprise AI applications including internal copilots, knowledge assistants, and document intelligence
  1. Coding agents for code generation, completion, testing, and review

Sea Xu, Applied AI Research Lead at Aolani
said: “The Aolani Token Factory is built on a high-performance inference stack that supports the most in-demand open-source model families. We designed the platform for fast model adaptation and deployment, so our customers can get access quickly as new models emerge. As Southeast Asia’s AI ecosystem evolves and grows rapidly, it is our goal to ensure that the infrastructure serving it keeps pace.”

Nicholas Chia, Chief Executive Officer at Aolani said: “Fast-moving AI natives want to build and ship products flexibly and on-demand, without the need to manage GPU fleets. With our competitive per-token pricing and a fully managed stack, companies can go from model selection to production deployment without the capital outlay or operational complexity of self-managed infrastructure. This is a significant milestone for us and our customers as the Aolani Token Factory will fundamentally change how customers access AI compute.”

Arup and Saint-Gobain launch global report on adapting buildings to climate change in Hong Kong

Industry leaders and practitioners gathered in Hong Kong to advance climate adaptation, building transformation and AI-enabled solutions for a more resilient built environment across Asia.

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 28 August 2026 – Arup and Saint-Gobain hosted the Asia launch (Hong Kong) of their global report, Adapting Buildings to Climate Change, alongside a technical seminar on AI-enhanced building design and operation. Supported by the Hong Kong Green Building Council, BEAM Society Limited, Business Environment Council, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Royal Institute of British Architects and American Institute of Architects Hong Kong, the event brought together more than 100 industry leaders, developers, architects, engineers and sustainability practitioners to examine how the built environment can respond to the growing challenges of climate change. The Hong Kong edition follows the report’s European launch in Brussels earlier this year and marks the beginning of a wider conversation across the Asia Pacific region.

Reflecting the value of collaboration between government and industry, Mr Sammy Yeung, JP, Commissioner for Climate Change, Environment and Ecology Bureau, HKSAR Government; and Mr Benjamin Hubin, Deputy Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, graced the launch ceremony as distinguished guests. Their presence underscored a shared commitment to addressing climate challenges and strengthening the resilience of Hong Kong’s built environment.

The urgency of that shared agenda framed the evening’s discussions. The scale of the challenge is significant. More than 7,000 major climate-related disasters caused nearly US$3 trillion in losses worldwide between 2000 and 2019, and the frequency and severity of heatwaves, floods, storms and extreme rainfall continue to rise. As one of the world’s most densely developed cities, Hong Kong faces distinct pressures, with rising temperatures, intensifying rainfall and a large existing building stock reinforcing the need for adaptation alongside decarbonisation. The pressure is particularly acute in dense urban areas, where Arup’s research has found the urban heat island effect can raise city temperatures by up to 8.5°C compared with rural surroundings, putting lives at risk and driving up cooling demand. Against this backdrop, the report examines how buildings can better withstand extreme heat, flooding and storms while supporting the transition to a low-carbon future.

Representatives from the supporting organisations join speakers and panellists from Arup and Saint-Gobain to explore practical pathways to climate resilience, building transformation and AI-enabled design for a stronger, more adaptive built environment across Hong Kong and the wider Asia Pacific region.
Representatives from the supporting organisations join speakers and panellists from Arup and Saint-Gobain to explore practical pathways to climate resilience, building transformation and AI-enabled design for a stronger, more adaptive built environment across Hong Kong and the wider Asia Pacific region.

Building on these themes, distinguished speakers and panellists from across the built environment sector shared their perspectives throughout the evening. Through a series of presentations and a panel discussion, they explored how building owners, investors and industry professionals can extend asset life, strengthen resilience and create lasting social and economic value through climate-responsive design, retrofitting and advanced technologies, as well as the growing role of digital innovation and artificial intelligence in enabling smarter, more sustainable decision-making across the building lifecycle.

Ir Dr Vincent Cheng, Arup Fellow and APAC Environment, Climate and Sustainability Services Leader, said, “Climate adaptation is no longer a future consideration. It is a present-day imperative for our cities, communities and economies. Buildings account for a significant share of our urban assets, and enhancing their resilience is essential to protecting people, livelihoods and long-term prosperity. Through this report, Arup and Saint-Gobain aim to provide practical insights that help the industry move beyond identifying climate risks and towards implementing solutions. By combining adaptation, decarbonisation and digital innovation, we can create buildings that are not only more resilient, but also healthier, more efficient and better equipped to support thriving communities.”

Mr Ludovic Weber, CEO Asia, Saint-Gobain, said, “Building adaptation to climate change cannot be addressed through one discipline, one stakeholder or one product alone. This report reinforces and accelerates Saint-Gobain’s long-standing approach of combining materials, systems and building-science expertise to deliver integrated, performance-based solutions tailored to specific climate risks and local needs. Together with Arup, we aim to turn knowledge into practical action and help create buildings that are more resilient, sustainable and valuable over the long term.”

About the report
Adapting Buildings to Climate Change explores the impacts of climate change on buildings and sets out strategies to strengthen resilience across the asset lifecycle. It identifies three complementary design approaches, namely robustness, adaptiveness and flexibility, and presents practical families of construction solutions ranging from thermal envelope and solar protection systems to green infrastructure and enhanced-resistance measures. The report highlights the business and societal value of investing in adaptation, showing how proactive measures can safeguard assets, improve occupant wellbeing and support more sustainable, resilient cities.

Awaken the Five Senses in Tianjin — A slower way to discover the city from Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin

TIANJIN, China, Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Thirty minutes from Beijing by high-speed train, Tianjin runs on a very different clock.

While other cities compete over speed and skylines, Tianjin has made an art of taking life as it comes. The Haihe River runs through its center, the Bohai Sea lies beyond, and grand houses from the city’s eventful past share the streets with breakfast stalls and neighborhood chatter. The mood is worldly, warm and wonderfully unhurried. Locals have a line for it: ‘If life gives you a minute, be happy for all 60 seconds.’  The humor is unmistakably Tianjin, and so is the philosophy behind it. Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin carries that same easy confidence into a calm retreat above the heart of the city. From here, a stay unfolds through what you see, hear, touch and taste — and through the sense of time gradually loosening its hold.

See: Let Tianjin set the pace

Tianjin begins just outside the hotel door. Along Chifeng Road, the Baroque-style former residence of Zhang Xueliang holds echoes of a dramatic chapter in modern Chinese history. A few steps away, the Porcelain House covers French-style columns and walls with the colors and fragments of Chinese ceramics. Side by side, the two landmarks reveal a city whose past has never belonged to a single aesthetic.

By afternoon, a bicycle feels like the right speed for the Five Great Avenues, Tianjin’s open-air showcase of international architecture. Prince Qing’s Mansion stands with an understated dignity, Munan Mansion has the elegance of a line of verse, and Minyuan Plaza opens out beneath a wide northern sky. Each turn brings another façade, another story and another version of the city.

At dusk, trade the bicycle for a boat along the Haihe. Bridges pass overhead as lights gather along the banks, and a breeze carrying the coolness of the river brushes across your face. Seen from the water, Tianjin appears entirely at ease with itself.

Touch: Let the day settle into the body

The river breeze may still be on your skin when you return to the hotel. Inside the L’Océan spa, 11 treatment rooms offer a more restorative kind of pause. During the signature Balinese massage, warm oil, long flowing strokes and gentle kneading gradually release tired muscles. A body does not relax on command, so the therapist responds to its cues, moving between stretches and soothing touch until both body and mind begin to let go.

That sense of comfort continues in the hotel’s 259 rooms and suites. Wood furnishings and pale linen bring warmth to the interiors, while custom mattresses with a Gel Touch foam core draw away excess heat and help maintain a comfortable sleeping temperature. Soft, finely woven bed linen takes care of the rest.

Listen: Find space between the sounds

Morning begins with the splash and ripple of the pool. In the afternoon, music drifts through the lobby without taking over the conversation. By evening, the light clink of glasses at the terrace bar mingles with traffic in the distance, while an occasional live set adds warmth to the night.

None of these sounds asks for attention. The city remains beyond the windows, footsteps disappear into the carpet, and the background softens enough for you to notice your own breathing rhythm again.

Taste: Meet Tianjin at the breakfast table

The quickest route into the life of Tianjin may well be breakfast.

At Cielo, jianbing guozi is made fresh to order, folding a fragrant mung-bean crêpe around a crisp cracker. Guoba Cai arrives under a rich, savory gravy, with sesame paste and fermented tofu giving the local favorite its unmistakable depth. In just a few bites, the city’s generosity and homestyle character come through.

Later in the day, the award-winning Jin House offers another reading of the region. Guided by the seasons, the kitchen brings local ingredients and flavors into conversation with the finesse of Cantonese cuisine. A basket of dim sum at lunch or a warming bowl of soup at dinner becomes a small expression of place and time.

Feel: Rediscover the luxury of an unhurried day

After a day like this, Tianjin’s famous ease is no longer an abstract quality. A concierge points you toward streets worth wandering. The afternoon unfolds without a checklist, leaving room for the simple pleasure of having nowhere else to be. Four Seasons Hotel Tianjin turns that unhurried rhythm into the rarest luxury of all: time that is entirely your own.

By the time you leave, the photographs and souvenirs may be joined by something more useful: the ability to slow down.

Laos Signs Deal for 330MW Coal Power Plant in Xieng Khouang

A new 330-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant planned for Xieng Khouang Province is expected to significantly improve domestic electricity reliability for northern Laos, especially during the dry season (March to August) when river levels plummet.

On 26 August, private developer B Rich Namphan Power Sole Co., Ltd. signed a contract for the construction of the USD 202.95 million facility, which is scheduled for completion by 2029.

China Western Power Industrial Co., Ltd. will supply the equipment and supervise installation, while Dongdok Construction and Installation Engineering Sole Co., Ltd. will serve as the primary contractor.

First conceptualized during a feasibility study in 2015, the project has secured a suitable site and a local coal supply expected to last at least 25 years. The plant will operate as a domestic Independent Power Producer (IPP-D), selling its output to the state utility, Électricité du Laos (EDL), to supply small and medium-sized industries in the northern region.

The developer confirmed that the plant will be the first coal-fired project in Laos to utilize supercritical technology, providing a cleaner, highly efficient thermal baseline.

Also, because the plant’s USD 202.95 million cost is below the USD 300 million threshold set by the Lao Law, it bypasses the need for National Assembly approval.

Laos Looks Beyond Hydropower

Laos is expanding renewable energy beyond its hydropower, which currently accounts for around 70 percent of the country’s electricity generation capacity.

In recent months, authorities have advanced solar projects, including a 1,000-megawatt solar project in Oudomxay and a new 5-megawatt project in Champasak. The projects are expected to diversify electricity supplies, improve grid stability, and strengthen Laos’ role in regional energy markets.

Laos is also promoting household rooftop solar, with Electricité du Laos purchasing surplus electricity under 10-year contracts to increase domestic generation and reduce electricity imports during periods of high demand.

Meanwhile, Laos and Russia agreed in June to begin preliminary studies for a potential nuclear power plant. The initial studies will examine possible locations and how a future plant could be integrated into Laos’ energy system.

BEIJING, Aug. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Amap, Alibaba’s location-based services platform, today released ABot-Recon, a streaming 3D reconstruction model that requires only 12 consecutive frames to reconstruct scenes spanning over 10,000 frames in real time, eliminating the need for long-range memory.

The model achieves state-of-the-art accuracy on multiple public benchmarks — including KITTI, Oxford Spires and VBR — while reducing peak memory usage to roughly one-third that of comparable methods, making real-time 3D reconstruction feasible on consumer-grade hardware.

As autonomous driving and embodied AI systems move into open environments, they require continuous spatial understanding while in motion — knowing where they are, what surrounds them and where to go next. Conventional streaming 3D reconstruction systems maintain memory anchors that store and fuse historical information to preserve global consistency. As input sequences grow longer, such systems become progressively slower, less accurate and more memory-intensive.

ABot-Recon takes a fundamentally different approach. Rather than maintaining long-range memory anchors, the model operates within a fixed 12-frame local context window, predicting only the local point cloud and the relative pose between adjacent frames. An online composition mechanism then assembles the complete global trajectory incrementally, keeping computational complexity constant regardless of sequence length.

To address drift inherent in local prediction, ABot-Recon incorporates dedicated correction and constraint mechanisms at both the prediction and training stages, calibrating trajectory error in real time.

On the Oxford Spires long-sequence benchmark, ABot-Recon reduces average trajectory error by 40.6% compared with the prior leading method, achieving a relative rotation error (RPE-R) of 0.12 degrees — approximately 40% lower than the previous state of the art. On KITTI-02, the model achieves real-time reconstruction at 24.45 FPS, 1.24 times the speed of existing approaches, with peak memory usage of approximately 6.71 GB — meaning a consumer-grade GTX 1080 Ti is sufficient to run the full pipeline.

The model requires only monocular RGB video as input, and needs no depth sensors or pre-calibrated camera parameters. This positions ABot-Recon for deployment across private-area mapping, embodied AI training, autonomous driving and 3D content production — scenarios where pre-built maps are unavailable and real-time reconstruction is essential.

ABot-Recon’s inference code, evaluation scripts and pre-trained weights are now open-sourced on GitHub. The project page is accessible at https://amap-cvlab.github.io/ABot-Recon-html/.
