Wanglaoji Launches WALOVI English Brand Identity in Kuala Lumpur to Strategically Expand in Malaysian Market

GUANGZHOU, China, April 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Recently, Wanglaoji Great Health Industry Co.Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Wanglaoji”), a leading Chinese natural herbal beverage enterprise, accelerated its Southeast Asian market expansion by signing an agreement with the partner in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to deepen market cooperation. Wanglaoji unveiled its English brand identity, WALOVI, and inked an international strategic partnership agreement with Baosteel Packaging Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Baosteel Packaging”) in Kuala Selangor, Malaysia, marking the initial steps in building its overseas supply chain network.

Malaysia is China’s second-largest trading partner among ASEAN member states, while China has maintained its position as Malaysia’s largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years. With the deepening implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), this year, which coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the China – ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA), has seen robust momentum injected into bilateral trade. Leveraging the tariff reduction policies under CAFTA 3.0, Chinese companies like Wanglaoji can now access Southeast Asian markets more efficiently.

On the morning of April 12, Wanglaoji and Baosteel Packaging signed a strategic cooperation agreement at Baosteel’s Can-Manufacturing Factory in Kuala Selangor. The two parties conducted in-depth cooperation in three aspects: overseas supply chain synergy, international market expansion, and packaging innovation R&D. This powerhouse alliance aims to enhance brand influence overseas and deliver superior products to consumers worldwide.

Wanglaoji herbal drink, which is renowned in China for its natural herbal formula with the function of preventing excessive “internal heat”, is now available in over 100 countries and regions worldwide. Baosteel Packaging, a leader in metal packaging materials for China’s fast-moving consumer goods sector, has established production lines in Vietnam, Malaysia, and other regions since 2012, boasting efficient localized production capabilities and flexible supply chains. Having been collaborating domestically for over a decade, the two companies are now elevating their partnership to the global strategic level.

Later that afternoon, Wanglaoji hosted the WALOVI English brand launch ceremony in Kuala Lumpur and signed a strategic market – expansion cooperation agreement with Baida International Trading Sdn. Bhd., a prominent “Southeast Asian service provider for Chinese brands expanding overseas”. Both parties agreed to strengthen sales and marketing efforts in Malaysia, jointly pursuing greater business growth. Moving forward, the WALOVI products will enter the Malaysian market through diversified channels, which cover mainstream retail outlets and consumer scenarios.

Fang Dafeng, General Manager of Wanglaoji, stated that Malaysia serves not only as a key stronghold for Wanglaoji’s brand-promotion in Southeast Asia but also as a pivotal hub in its globalization strategy. “We developed the PCBC Global Value Model—focusing on ‘Product, Channel, Brand, and Culture’—to tailor product for overseas markets, establish localized channel networks, promote the WALOVI English brand, and foster cultural integration. By championing Chinese health philosophy, we aim to elevate Wanglaoji into a global super beverage brand,” he emphasized.

Consumer goods expo highlights China’s growing allure for global brands

HAIKOU, CHINA – Media OutReach Newswire – 15 April 2025 – The fifth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), held on the tropical island province of Hainan, has reaffirmed the country’s position as a vital marketplace for global enterprises.

This year’s expo has drawn record participation from over 4,100 brands across 71 countries and regions, reflecting the expanding international appetite for engagement with China’s vast consumer market and its evolving landscape.
The UK, this year’s guest country of honor, brought 27 companies spanning fashion, beauty, and other fields. Flagship brands like Burberry and Bentley showcased their latest offerings, with a strong emphasis on green technology and sustainable development.
“I have seen the tremendous innovation and growth taking place within China’s economy in recent years, not least in digital technologies, life sciences and green energy,” said Douglas Alexander, minister of state of the UK’s Department for Business and Trade.
These areas present significant opportunities for both economies, he said, emphasizing the UK’s commitment to deepening economic ties with China.
Burberry Greater China President Josie Zhang noted the value of the expo in facilitating foreign firms to engage with local partners. “By deepening cooperation with various stakeholders, we aim to explore new market opportunities and achieve mutual growth,” she said in a written interview.
Slovakia also made a notable debut with its first-ever national pavilion. Andrea Jancekova, CEO of Slovak brand Truscada, praised the expo’s global reach. “You can have a good connection also with people from all over the world.”
Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Denisa Saková highlighted the expanding trade ties between the two countries. “China is one of our most important trading partners outside the European Union,” she said. “The growing volume of trade is a testament to the strength and dynamism of our economic relationship.”
Among the newcomers was Japan’s Eda Livestock Co., Ltd., known for its premium Wagyu beef. “We plan to establish a foreign trade company in Hainan as our strategic entry point into the Chinese market,” said Rei Tanaka, the firm’s chief operating officer, who participated in the CICPE for the first time.
This year’s expo also gathered an array of top-tier global luxury brands. Richemont’s TimeVallée debuted as an independent exhibitor, while LVMH and Kering Group brands made notable appearances, reflecting confidence in China’s premium consumption growth.
“Luxury consumers in China are significantly younger than those in many overseas markets, and that presents a major opportunity for us,” said Nancy Liu, president of luxury travel retailer DFS China. The company has introduced tailored services to cater to the expectations of these emerging consumer groups.
Beyond luxury, sectors like automotive and technology are repositioning China from being a mere sales destination to a research and innovation hub.
As the co-organizer of the 5th China International Consumer Products Expo, the Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development stated that, amid China’s technological innovation momentum, this year’s expo for the first time introduced dedicated zones for artificial intelligence and the low-altitude economy, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and products from leading tech companies around the world.
“Since 2020, Volkswagen has invested over 10 billion euros in China. In particular, we have established a research and development center in China in 2023, the largest outside Germany,” said Su Bahong, vice president of Volkswagen Group China. “This shows the trend where China is becoming the global technological innovation hub.”

New Survey Finds Aspiring Business Students Embrace Learning to Think Strategically–with Help from AI

GMAC’s latest global survey of business school candidates also finds increasing importance of ROI as the tech sector’s lure fades.

RESTON, Va., April 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Individuals looking to enter business schools overwhelmingly say they want to learn how to think strategically and problem solve, according to the latest annual survey of global prospective students to business school released today by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). And with nearly half of prospective students reporting artificial intelligence (AI) as part of their ideal curriculum, candidates are expecting hands-on experience utilizing AI for strategy and decision-making.

GMAC 2025 PSS Infographic
GMAC 2025 PSS Infographic

“Employers have consistently informed us that they value hallmark skills like strategic thinking and problem-solving. Once again, we found that prospective students are on the same page with their future employers,” says Joy Jones, CEO at GMAC. “Employers have also identified socio-emotional skills as critical to becoming a business leader, presenting a great opportunity for business schools to encourage their current and future students to take advantage of the embedded opportunities to hone and highlight teamwork, adaptability, and emotional intelligence in their educational and career journeys.”

MBA reigns supreme with interest in business master’s on the rise.

As more business schools launch new and increasingly specialized master’s programs, candidates have taken notice. Compared to the previous year, there has been a significant jump in the share of candidates who prefer business master’s degrees. Even though preference for the MBA dipped slightly, roughly half of global business candidates still consider it their top choice. A deeper dive into the shift reveals that pre-experience candidates as well as those aged 30 and over are more inclined to apply for business master’s programs than before.

“For the more seasoned professionals seeking to pivot their career or college students contemplating becoming an accountant or marketeer, a relatively shorter and specialized business program could be an ideal educational path,” says Martin Boehm, executive vice president and global dean of undergraduate programs at Hult International Business School and a GMAC board director.

The survey also showed that more people are expressing preference for in-person business education programs—either full-time or part-time in format—reversing a multi-year trend of growing popularity of hybrid and flexible programs since the inception of the pandemic.

Labor market uncertainty impacts ROI considerations, desired industries.

Cost remains a top barrier for candidates to get graduate business degrees no matter where they are located or how advanced they are in their career. Today’s economic and employment outlook has heightened people’s awareness around opportunity cost and return of their investment. In fact, ROI remains prospective students’ most considered factor when researching GME, with a noticeable increase in how many survey respondents say this is among their most important aspects of choosing a business school.

The uncertainty also reflects in the industry they are looking to enter upon graduation. While consulting, financial services, and technology still top the list, there has been a small but statistically significant dip in candidate interest in the tech sector. This is likely related to a challenging year for major tech companies, where recent layoffs hit hard not just the technical engineer positions but also more business-oriented roles in marketing and talent recruitment.

Global economy and geopolitical intricacies influence study destinations.

Study destination preferences of global candidates have remained steady over the past five years, with the United States and Western Europe continuing to occupy the top spots for students intending to study abroad. At the same time, affordability and being closer to home are deciding factors among candidates who want to study in regions like Asia, the Middle East, and Africa—where rising inflation and fluctuating currency exchange rates have dominated recent headlines.

“As the global economy becomes increasingly uncertain, we’re seeing candidates from around the world seeking out the value for money, unique perspectives, and hands-on experience with complex problems they can gain by studying in regions with young populations and fast-growing, dynamic markets,” says Catherine Duggan, director (dean) of the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business and chair-elect of the GMAC Board.

About the Prospective Student Survey

With 15 years of survey responses representing all world regions, the GMAC Prospective Students Survey has provided the world’s graduate business schools with critical insights into the decision-making processes of people currently considering applying to a graduate management education program. This year’s summary report analyzes 2024 data from 4,912 respondents across 147 countries—45 percent female and 67 percent Gen Z—offering insights into evolving candidate decision-making to guide business school strategies. The full report with additional findings is available on gmac.com.

The sale of HARO reflects Cision’s continued focus on strengthening and investing in its core product suite, which includes CisionOne, Brandwatch, and PR Newswire (PRN).

“Cision confirms that it no longer offers the Help A Reporter Out or Connectively services as part of its product suite,” said Jim Daxner, Chief Product Officer & Head of Strategy at Cision. “We are focused on advancing our core platforms — CisionOne, Brandwatch, and PRN — which are critical to delivering powerful, integrated communications solutions for our customers.”

Following the rebranding of HARO to Connectively in 2024 and its subsequent discontinuation, Cision made the decision to divest the asset to an external party. Featured.com was identified as a well-aligned partner to take ownership of the platform.

The transaction allows Cision to concentrate its resources and innovation efforts on its core technology platform strategy. With CisionOne delivering a next-generation media intelligence platform, Brandwatch leading in consumer intelligence and social media management, and PR Newswire continuing as the world’s largest press release distribution network, Cision remains committed to enabling communications professionals to effectively manage and measure media impact.
